So has Lockhart been confirmed and if so the question would be why while the OneX exists?

Lockhart is not confirmed. Pretty sure that if it does, they will discontinue the Xbox One upon release of Series X/S.

Never heard of them.

They are the company that bought Plantronics RIG wireless headset line, really good headsets, I posted about the RIG 800 and 800LX here a while back and have been using them since launch. Very nice for the price.

Mine still works great actually, excellent sound and battery life is just as good now as it was when I first bought it. If I ever need to replace down the line I'm glad to hear they're going to be working on new stuff.

It seems MS use a something called Game Core that supposedly makes it easier for devs to port there games across multiple SKU’s. Sounds like it’s pretty much there but still a few bugs to be ironed out before launch.

that controller is pretty neat, but in the full size image it seems to be missing a share button, where it’s shown in use it looks like it has another button near the button/underside of the right thumb...

Nothing official yet, but my understanding is both the S and the 1X will be discontinued relatively soon, because apparently it’s going to be more costly/difficult to keep them going due to their Jaguar cores, which are being manufactured less and less.

What people haven't completely figured out is that Game Pass is GAAS. It needs a large variety of consistent content to be successful though. So an Xbox single player game is a cog that keeps the GAAS ecosystem going.

Not necessarily. Most people will never finish all the games they want to play on available for the service. Other games come up and you just keep putting them on the back burner.

Game Pass isn't GAAS. Game Pass is a service that has games. GAAS is a game that has services such as seasons, extra content, pushed out maps, microtransactions....services to keep the game active.

There are GAAS games on Game Pass though.

But that service needs constant drip feeding of games/content. They work similar enough.

I don't subscribe to the notion of rent to play.
I do like the idea of paying to get extended content of games I already play.
Then I assume you don’t rent movies or have a Netflix subscription either.

Games and movies are TOTALLY different and renting games can't be compared till gamepass is a household name type successful service that can be used on every device including the PS. I can see the later happening but not the successful as NF happening.

I do it all(well except gamepass/psnow)
Buy physical copies of movies I like, pay a fee to watch thousands of movies/shows via streaming services and sometimes do a individual digital rental when the price is right and it's in HDR/Dolby Vision.
Biggest gaming bullet I take is paying to play online(THX MS)

Oh so you do subscribe to the notion of rent to play. You’re just unreasonable.

Rent to watch.
I buy my games.

Rent to watch = Rent to play

Hence the play button instead of a watch button.

I’m sure every subscription service/streaming service you use is a “household” name as well.
