Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition

I'm loving that PC's greatest visual milestones are being offered for next gen console owners.

Of course at lower settings, resolutions, or frame rates.

This game wasn't hard to run at max settings on PC so it doesn't surprise me they are bringing it to next gen.

Loved this game since day one. It is one of my favorite sandbox games thanks to the kung fu fighting. Seems odd though, this was a Games for Gold title so I cannot imagine anyone still desiring a copy some 2+ years after release. Especially in November, considering the flood of next gen games that will finally be hitting stores.

Yeah, Sleeping Dogs was a last gen game that was easy to max out, even on mid-range hardware. Hopefully not too much fidelity is lost in the porting process to the PS4 and X1. At the very least, I want 60fps prioritized for these ports just because 60fps is too beautiful.

I need to finish Sleeping Dogs. It's funny hearing about an HD version coming out.

Surely we should be getting to a sequel time. Sleeping dogs released when, 2012?. I enjoyed the first, but it needs a second to really build on the core of the first.

United Front Games did the X1 version of Tomb Raider I believe, I don't know how big that studio is but it could be that the sequel to Sleeping Dogs is pretty far off. I do hope we get something soon though, I'd even buy this HD release on PS4 if they do it, I loved that game and I traded in my 360 so I can't play it anymore.

I thought they only helped out, but Crystal Dynamics did the bulk of the work. Either way, we need a sleeping dogs sequel. Like you I enjoyed the first game. All I wanted was better driving physics and more depth to the fighting.

Look, I can appreciate HD remakes of games as much as anyone, but seriously? Why are they putting out HD remakes of things from just last gen!? This is getting to be a bit too reminiscent of movie studios needing to re-release their entire backlog on blu-ray, since DVD just isn't good enough anymore.

Last gen was a lie, I thought it was HD already.

It was a lie. I would say the majority of games last gen were not HD at all. They fell below the 720P minimum of HD.

Because gamers buy them. Just like people buy the blu-ray re-releases. I do not do the former, much. but the Latter I do a lot.

It's called cash-ola.

I'm pretty sure the only remaster or remake I've ever bought will be the upcoming Halo Collection. It's got so much content and 1080/60 that I can see myself getting into it as I hated Halo's 30 fps gameplay from before. Could never get used to it after playing super smooth CoD. This comes from someone who played maybe 20 online Halo matches and quit due to avg frame rates and god awful blur effect almost as bad as Mass Effect's.

Looking back at movies, a hit movie over the past 15 years probably goes like this:

Standard DVD
Special Edition DVD
Director's Cut DVD
Some kind of Superbit, Criterion or some other fancy name DVD edition
HD-DVD
Standard BR
Possibly a deluxe BR version

Getting back to games, they release them because people buy them and the trend is getting moreso. Just like nickel and diming microtransactions. People all seem to hate them, yet they are still out there as people keep tossing the publisher $1 here, $2 there etc.... And they won't stop.

Not sure if these would be called microtransactions, but the only online things I've bought are maps packs and for one NHL game I think I bought a Bauer Booster pack (though I might have got that free because I pre-ordered it.... I forget as it was for NHL 10). But for sake of argument, let's say I did actually buy it. That's it for me. No theme packs, no gamertag icons, no paying for extra guns or other BS. No avatar clothes, paying $10 change a gamertag or any other nonsense out there.

If people stop supporting, publishers will stop.

Quick bucks. Making a more polished version of a game is far less work & cost than creating a new game from the ground up.

The main debate is should they charge full retail price for it. Afterall you can get sleeping dog now like 20 bucks now at gamestop.

Meh been there done that, would only really consider buying it if they added all the DLC and gave us some more fighting moves and animations.

I also don't get the hd pc version. They already released high res textures for it. Were they holding out on pc users last time?!

I bet it will be the same as the original PC version. You know how Square-Enix wants to make that money.

this is coming out in November
2014 the year of the remakes!!

This was rumoured a little while back. Great game but don't see myself double dipping. Too many ports coming at the moment for games that are still fresh.

hmm these remakes are getting abit ridiculous. work on some new games please

loved the game but there is only one way i would buy this and that is if it has more graphical improvement than just PC at ultra.. since i can just buy the game on PC for much cheaper.

I don't mind some of the remasters and definitive editions but I'll agree that the sheer number of them is getting a little ridiculous. We'll see less of them as the new games start to hit though. I think this is all just filling space before the inevitable onslaught of new titles for the new consoles.

The Sleeping Dogs thing has been rumored for a while now (behind closed doors meetings confirmed it at E3) but of course we were under an NDA so couldn't talk about it. Looks like Amazon let the cat out of the bag! Depending on what the overhaul really ends up looking/playing like I might consider picking it up... at the right price of course. No full price game! A lot of people skipped this one and it developed a bit of a cult status so I can see why Square is making this move.

I will double dip if it comes with all the DLC. I really enjoyed the game but did not get a single piece of DLC for it, and if I recall right this had a lot of DLC.

Let Sleeping Dogs lie.

Got it free through GwG and haven't played it much yet. Future XboxOne GwG game confirmed. :p

love the remakes that are coming out. gives me a chance to play so many of the games i owned on PS360 but never got around to playing.

reveal at next weeks Gamescom perhaps?

Times like this make me happy I game on PC; good god. $60 for the original then $5-$15 for the DLC, then another $60 for this "definitive edition", which chances are high will be the same game with the PC texture pack (it really did make an absolute huge difference), HBAO, AA.

It's getting a bit ridiculous.
