Look, I can appreciate HD remakes of games as much as anyone, but seriously? Why are they putting out HD remakes of things from just last gen!? This is getting to be a bit too reminiscent of movie studios needing to re-release their entire backlog on blu-ray, since DVD just isn't good enough anymore.
It's called cash-ola.
I'm pretty sure the only remaster or remake I've ever bought will be the upcoming Halo Collection. It's got so much content and 1080/60 that I can see myself getting into it as I hated Halo's 30 fps gameplay from before. Could never get used to it after playing super smooth CoD. This comes from someone who played maybe 20 online Halo matches and quit due to avg frame rates and god awful blur effect almost as bad as Mass Effect's.
Looking back at movies, a hit movie over the past 15 years probably goes like this:
Standard DVD
Special Edition DVD
Director's Cut DVD
Some kind of Superbit, Criterion or some other fancy name DVD edition
HD-DVD
Standard BR
Possibly a deluxe BR version
Getting back to games, they release them because people buy them and the trend is getting moreso. Just like nickel and diming microtransactions. People all seem to hate them, yet they are still out there as people keep tossing the publisher $1 here, $2 there etc.... And they won't stop.
Not sure if these would be called microtransactions, but the only online things I've bought are maps packs and for one NHL game I think I bought a Bauer Booster pack (though I might have got that free because I pre-ordered it.... I forget as it was for NHL 10). But for sake of argument, let's say I did actually buy it. That's it for me. No theme packs, no gamertag icons, no paying for extra guns or other BS. No avatar clothes, paying $10 change a gamertag or any other nonsense out there.
If people stop supporting, publishers will stop.
