Sales Comparisons v. 1.1

Awesome to see good sales on Evil Within. Hope with the shortcomings though that a sequel would still sell good. Disappointed in Sunset Overdrive as well and Bayonetta 2 which I did buy at launch even though I won't get to it for a while.

GAF leakers seem to be MIA, so we may have to wait a while for PS4 and X1 numbers.

Cream's leak I think quit his job at NPD. And AM took a break from GAF because they complained about the way she leaked data (hiding it behind email tags after passing it to someone else to post so NPD wouldn't track it to her from simple google searchers).

Yeah, I've been following the discussion on the NPD thread. Seems like 1) the leakers (if they return) need to find more secure ways to leak the info and 2) GAF members need to be less critical and demanding of them and more sensitive to the vulnerable position the leakers are placing themselves in.

I hope we continue to get more or less reliable numbers. Otherwise, we're just left with the companies' PR, and they can spin it any way they want to. Otoh, I don't think we necessarily need the precise numbers, just ballpark.

Gaffers being less demanding, less critical, less entitled, lolz. Maybe when hell freezes over.

id assume ps4 and gta will have a say in that.

We'll see, the bundle doesn't hit until BF. If the GTAV+TLOU bundle allows PS4 to beats out XBO. MS should just add in free PS4s with every XBO purchase at that point. I'd suggest adding in Wii U as well but that might work against them. Also throw in a Surface Pro 2 and Zune HD as well as a Kin for good measure for $299.

Are retailers not adding GTA 5 to an Xbox bundle over there ?

No clue. I'd imagine it'd be hard since Sony has the marketing deal for it.
Retailers are doing it over here. GAME for example is doing the X1 FIFA 15 Official bundle with Forza 5 and GTA 5 for £350. Would be shocked if US retailers were not doing similar deals.

Oh wow. The Forza franchise was a sales juggernaut for the 360. FH2 is awesome. I know the Xbox One has sold considerably less worldwide than the PS4 but why aren't Xbox gamers buying these games like they did last gen? Makes no sense.
It could be that a lot of xbox gamers have gone digital. They don't account for those sales.

I know for me and all of my friends i game with on xbox , all buy digitel.
I think the game sharing feature that comes with going digital has driven a lot sales. People that have friends they play with on a regular basis are crazy not to take advantage of it. I don't think we will be able to track games sales any longer.

That likely has an affect. Like you said, peeps would be crazy not to take advantage of it.

The main reason I do, as well as my friends is the convenience of it. Meaning , no more swapping disk, or having to drive somewhere to pick up it up. Just one click from my phone and its purchased, downloaded and installed for me.

The end of the human race begins.

To be honest I can not really imagine not going to the store for my games. It has been part of my gaming ritual for 20 years. Plus, I would miss the flirty girl who works in my local :hehe:

It had sold over 600K last time I looked at the leaderboards a while back.

Well, going by that crappy VGchartz, Horizon 1 did 1.7 million with an 80+ million install base. so 600K on 5-6 million install base is actually pretty awesome.

Soon to be 600,001 copies in 6 weeks! :)

Is it? I mean there wasn't much else to buy when it came out either. Other games that came out earlier in the year with smaller installed bases sold better than that. I do think people overestimate the popularity of racing games though, other than GT (and not even that so much anymore) most of them seem to be modest successes. They do well enough but they aren't things that really drive hardware sales or anything like that.

Of course. Because it's an Xbox game. I am sure there are 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,001 reasons that you can come up with to downplay the sales of an Xbox exclusive.

But the one you chose today was a safe one. Nobody can debate opinions.

well if there was some hot flirty girl working at my local Gamestop then I would agree with you, but that's not the case here. Lol. But even with music, I stopped buying CDs as soon as digital downloads for music started many years ago for the same reasons .

I said earlier that we should focus here on console sales, but I guess we can expand that out and make this a thread for talking about the sales of individual games, too. It's hard to avoid the subject of game sales, it pops up naturally as a part of the discussion, and there isn't another place to do it.

Speaking of which, I heard Bayonetta 2 sold "a little" over 68K in Oct. I also heard the first one sold a million. Ouch, that's quite a drop.

I also heard that SO sold more than 100K, but we don't know by how much. 200K? Hard to say, especially with the bundle situation and digital sales. Even if it's 500K, I assume that's not enough to turn a profit, even with the MS money. I guess we'll see how it looks in November.

Which is why I compared it to itself. Comparing to more popular genres is just unfair. Even comparing to Drive club is a bit unfair since it has twice the install base. I think based on Horzon 1 sales( assuming VGchartz is at least in the ball park) Horizon 2 has done well. I think its sales will jump significantly over the holiday period too. Plus, the only sale number we really have is based of an in game leaderboard. So it could be higher.

From the same dude who said that the only reason it was sold out at amazone, SO bundle that is, was because of a very limited supply, then when it broke the top ten he said it must be a "glitch" in the system. Now that's it"s pretty much sold out everywhere I'm waiting on what the new reason is. Lol. You can't make this stuff up.

Well Bayonetta came out on 360 and PS3 to a over 50 million user base, Bayonetta 2 is only on Wii U which only has a 7 million user base.
