2014-2015 NBA Off-Season Thread

No. When Jordan retired the first time, Scottie Pippen led the Chicago Bulls to a 55 - 27. So yeah, if Lebron James was added to a team that won 55 games without him, I think he'd be doing OK in the Finals record comparisons.

I'm tired of all the reminiscing that people do. Jordan dominated during your youth so you automatically think he's the greatest of all time. In 20 years, old farts will be doing the same thing with Lebron James.

If Michael Jordan was on another level than Lebron James, it would show up in the stats. It doesn't.
what exactly did Scottie Pippen win again when Jordan left???? Michael Jordan never lost a finals dude. also are you telling me if Michael Jordan had Chris Bosch and d Wade on his team it would have been more challenging for him to win a finals??? sometimes I honestly wonder what kind of hard drugs you do. something is seriously wrong with you dude.

success is measured by championships. same thing with any sport. stats mean absolutely nothing when you lose. just like Peyton Manning. the year he set the record with the most touchdown passes. do you think he would rather have had a Superbowl ring over breaking the record for TDs? you too hung up on Stats, when at the end of the day. It means nothing when you walk away a looser. also Michael Jordan proved he was the greatest player of all time. Period.

No pro scout looks at a college teams success and evaluates its players based on the championships they won.

Scouts generally look at players individual characteristics to determine what kind of pro they will become.

It's foolish to judge LeBron James as a player when basketball is a team game heavily reliant on the quality of that team.

But you guys are old so you have to make MJ some god.

Also, why wasn't MJ able to bring his team a title in 9 of his 15 years as a player in the league?

Success may be measured by championships, you're right. I would admit Michael Jordan is the more successful player but you're on crack of you think he's, without question, the better player.

Maybe we've been arguing using different sets of parameters. Then again, if success if measured is Championships then Jordan takes a seat to this guy...

Jordan never lost a Finals without Scottie Pippen. How many Finals did he lead his teams to? I'd argue if you're not leading your team to the Finals, it's an even worse blemish on your record.

Jordan led his team to 6 Finals.
Lebron led his team to 5 Finals.

Lebron is nipping at Jordan's heels.

That's hilarious of you of all people accusing someone of being on crack. Wow just wow. Damn. Anyway... there's a big flaw in your logic. Jordan "won" six championships. Matter in fact he has never lost one. Math lesson today for you. Six is much larger then 2. Just think about it for a little bit and it will make sense to you. Also... Your right. No way in hell jorden would have won more then two championships with d Wade and Chris Bosch on his team. LMAO You can make every excuse in the book for James but none of it matters anymore. It's already done and over with . James is 2 in 4 for finals. Jordan..6 for 6. Perfect record. flawless... Also there is an distinct difference between leading your team two 6 finals and actually winning six finals. Class dismissed ..

What is a bigger failure?

Leading your team to the NBA Finals

or

Being unable to lead your team to the NBA Finals

Checkmate.

After 12 seasons Lebron has played for 5 titles and that is great.

After 12 seasons Jordan won 5 titles.

Lebron was able to enter the league after high school.

Jordan needed to mature a bit in college.

So, Lebron has a few more years to collect more Finals appearences.

You mean collect more losses? Nobody is impressed by those.

Don't you see the circle we're going in?

You say Jordan is better than Lebron because his teams had more success in the Finals.

I bring up Tom Heinsohn, who had more success than Jordan in the Finals.

Thus, using your logic, Tom Heinsohn is better than Michael Jordan.

Am I doing it right guys?

As long as we agree that Lebron isn't the GOAT than I am ok.

if I was 8 that would make you about one dude.

Is this sarcastic? This was either legitimately funny or it was cringe worthy.

Listen, there are 13 players with as many, or more, NBA championships as MJ. What makes him better than any of them? I'm embaressed to look over the last two pages in this thread and see that I debated with a group of people who's sole argument is"...duh...MJ has more championships...duuuh."

I'm partially to blame for giving you an audience but the level of discourse in here has been incredibly shallow.

I'm so sorry to disappoint you. let me go put on my concern face....

Jordan being better than Lebron, lol. If they went 1 on 1 in their prime Jordan would have been carried out on a stretcher. There's no answer for the strength, length, speed, and skill of Lebron James. None whatsoever. Only difference between their careers is Jordan had Pippen and Kerr hitting shots for him. Lebron had Hughes and Dellavedova lmfao.

If you want to say Lebron chased championships or quit on his team then you have to say the same about Jordan. The guy was a coward. He quit on the team and left to play baseball because he knew they weren't going to be good anymore. Then he comes back when the team is good to chase more championships. What a fraud.
