It just cracks me up when someone "jumps ship" from one console to another, they jump in with both feet.
I don't even disagree with some of the points brought up. But why continue trolling the thread of a console that you have no interest in?

You know he was coke head right, and that a lot of what was though to be phycoligy is not accepted by modern phycoligist.
The ships aren't even out yet. People trying to hop from one to the other is falling face first into the ocean.
I see some people here saying that MS with the X1 lost focus of gaming, yet they clearly have the stronger launch lineup and their E3 was full of games. Plenty of great games coming too. Kinect as a gaming device has been moved to the background and it shows with a lot less games where Kinect is shoehorned in. So lost focus of gaming? I'd say not at all.
Something else I don't get though. I know it has been said to be a tools issue that CoD is 720 and BF4 too, but why CAN games like Forza, NBA and Fifa be 1080p? Those devs didn't have a problem with tools?

Because all of those games are running on new engines. Not ported last gen ones.
The games are the reason I'm buying the X1 along with my PS4. I hope Microsoft keeps this supposed lack of focus.

I really don't think there's even been or will ever be someone who is as in to his company as that man. He's got my respect.
The res difference is being artificially imposed by something other than the GPU.
I do note, there seems to be no difference in texture or model quality of these games, which means the input side of the GPU is fine (this is what is supposed to be crippled in bandwidth BTW -the whole DDR3 thing can now be debunked, it's more than capable of feeding the GPU).
That leaves us with these options:
1/ The GPU cant handle the increased res due to too much going on
2/The bandwidth out isnt fast enough to the ESRAM
3/The ESRAM isnt being used at all
4/Something else is artificially causing the res (size of buffer limitations etc).
I think, after hearing that both BF4 and Ghosts are both 720p. We can disregard 1. As while I could have possibly said that yes, BF4 is putting the GPU through it's paces, I cant possibly even say that with a straight face after watching the PS4 footage of Ghosts.
We can rule out GPU power as the reason these games are running 720p.
That really leaves us with either ESRAM (used or not) or something else.

You didn't speak to my 360 RROD example though. By your logic, with Sony having the massive advantage going into this gen, why did the red ring not spell the end for Xbox?
And what's this about PS3 outselling 360? Last I read it was the other way around, although not by a lot. Has something changed, or am I just wrong?
It's apparently an issue with eSRAM and deferred shading.
"Only DDR3 for system/GPU memory pared with 32MB of “ESRAM” sounds troubling. 32MB of ESRAM is only really enough to do forward shading with MSAA using only 32-bits/pixel color with 2xMSAA at 1080p or 4xMSAA at 720p. Anything else to ESRAM would require tiling and resolves like on the Xbox360 (which would likely be a DMA copy on 720) or attempting to use the slow DDR3 as a render target. I’d bet most titles attempting deferred shading will be stuck at 720p with only poor post process AA (like FXAA)."

I can spell it, but I'm on this thru my phone so spelling isn't that important to me. If I was worried to spell every word right it would take me about an extra 20 minutes going through and proof reading. You obviously got the jist of the point I was trying to convey. Otherwise you just wouldn't of replied back. So I ask again. Did the 360 have any competition in it's first 16 months on sale. No. If you wanted a HD console it's all there was. You put up with RRoD because you had no choice if you wanted to console game in HD.
By the time the PS3 shipped, the 360 was sorted and had a 3 year warranty. Then Sony did their best to lose the generation themselves. Massive Damage, Giant Enemy Crabs, get another job to save up and Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidge Raaaaaaaaaaacer. Remember.
At the time, many people thought it was the end of the world, much like now. MS will be just fine, again.
Dude you really need to get your facts right or watch the history channel. The entire nation of Germany didn't want the Fuhrer as their leader. Their election system was a lot different than the USA is. Taking that as an example..... Let me very clear I am not comparing the two Leaders in this example.

I've got a degree in contemporary international history from Manchester university. In particular I studied German history from the first war of unification 1864 to the end of WWII 1945. I don't need to watch the 'History Channel' to learn anything about Germany thanks.
