The Nintendo Switch

Given the power of Switch and Nintendo's historic legacy of releasing hardware at low prices, I say $249 US. $299 with a pack in game.

Although that will be butting heads with all the X1/PS4 bundles.

The most logical price should really be $199, but I don't see Ninty having it priced that low.

Generally speaking 3.2 GB of Ram will likely do wonders for a handheld, rest assured virtually port will be the worst version on Switch, but I don't think the gap to bone/ps4 will be any greater then Vita/PS3....but that Scorpio gap will be huuuuuuuge.
I don't think Switch's specs even hit X1, never mind PS4 or Pro. It'll be another batch of low end ports (for devs who want to do them), no ports for many franchises, and probably some shovelware mobile games which take advantage of those detachable mini-game pads which is a tiny d-pad and a couple of buttons.

I see devs testing the waters in the first 12 months... just like Wii U which got lots of AAA games along side 360/PS3 in 2012.... but after sales fizzles most third party games will dry up by 2018-2019......

.... Nintendo will put more focus into Apple/Android games..... and maybe.... just maybe they will finally go third party MS, Sony, PC by let's say 2020 or 2021.

I won't touch it for a dime over $200. Exclusives be damned when you've got 'dat backlog.

No rush. Given Nintendo's track record of first party games, a Mario or Zelda probably won't come out till fall 2017 or 2018.

It's been a long time since Nintendo released their key franchises at launch.

Its possible. But there's enough memory to make a version of most games with severe cutbacks IMO.GPU and CPU I don't know, will wait and see.

One issue I think could backfire is...if devs are bringing typically 3ds only titles to switch, they might bring them to Xbox and PS4 too, which would certainly loosen Nintendo's grasp in that area.

Same old tricks from Nintendo. Whatever, they knew people were never switching from PS4/X1 to play third party games on a Nintendo console. Focus on the first party games. That's all i need from them.

The Switch is the successor to the 3DS. Let's just call it what it is. Nintendo is obviously done with hardware, in the traditional sense. Not like it's the start of a new gen anyway. I'm sure Nintendo will release a new console when PS5/Xbox Two launches.

Nintendo has to make a console with agimmick if they want to succeed. If they made a normal-like console, they'd to have to change their backwards ways to meet the modern gamers expectations. "No, we don't have a competent online service for gamers, but look! It's a freaking tablet! Wooo!"

I wonder if they've planned ahead for covers etc. Portable devices get thrown in bags, screens get scratched etc.

But having to take the cover on and off to dock it, or plug in those god awful controllers would be an epic boner killer.

I gotta say this...

...watching that video made me fully realize that I would never "switch" my Switch to play it in public. I'm an old man and would feel weird hauling out this thing in public to play a cartoony game. My Galaxy S7 I rarely will game in public with that and stick to checking emails or even this forum when stuck at the doc, waiting in line, etc. I just don't fit the demographic for mobile gaming with a setup like this.

So this basically is just a home console that would never be used for what it calls itself. An underpowered console that I would buy ZERO cross-platform games. So now it is just for Nintendo exclusives which come out at the rate of anywhere from 1-4 good ones a year. Yeah, this thing really really needs to be $199. Sorry Nintendo, this really comes across as a kiddie* console again to me.

* note: when you are as old as me, the word "kiddie" has a broader range to include anyone under the age of about 25 years old.

Good presentation and points but he is going to be wrong on this. Gamers will get back on the Nintendo bandwagon when it gets out of the hardware biz and becomes a Sony/MS publisher. /bank.that.td

This is tomorrow right? I keep forgetting about the damn presentation. Which is good I guess so now I only have one more day of hype.

No.

Only $299. Looks like Sony and Microsoft have some work to do. PS4 Pro is done. Scorpio is DOA. Unless they drop the price real quick.
