PUBG will be remembered, but more like WoW than anything like a Mario, or Zelda... GotY SP games are timeless.
Great SP games will always be played again, especially Nintendo's GotY SP games.

Zelda reviews and keep a eye on the awards (IT WILL receive) for buzz....
How many Switch's did its userbase sell? How about more copies of Zelda sold than Switch's on the market.

and of course unannounced. On the PS side, the only thing of interest that they announced for 2018 is God of War.
Yeah, that's pretty good, especially with a new Halo on the Horizon. For me anyway.
It eclipses all of your criteria you laid out over every game, and it does This by a large margin. It's not that Hard to see the flaws in your argument. It's also the biggest game. The Land is endless in it.
No, I agree...but Minecraft came out in 2009. Therefore ineligible for this years award no?
Heard something about Gigantic's dev closing or getting cut way back or something. It was in connection with the Torchlight/Hob dev closing. Can't recall the specifics. Don't know if it'll affect Gigantic or not, but just thought I'd mention it.
MS's offerings look pretty good (not for me personally, but objectively) -- particularly if they can add Halo 6 to the end of the year. It's certainly a big step up from 2017.
Nintendo's offerings look pretty weak in 2018. Hopefully more will be announced.

I feel like Halo 6 would be a 2019 title. I thought they traditionally announced Halo a year before, but I am hoping we do get one. It will be 2 years since the release of Halo 5. Not sure if they are on the same schedule as Forza Motorsport, which is every two years?
