If this game was on PS4, I believe it would have scored the same as it has now. In fact, it might have scored worse, as PS games tend to get more critic reviews.

This is my opinion based on my game time so far:

Pros:
  • Feels like Crackdown 1
  • Audio/Sound Effects are really good
  • Very vibrant compared to Crackdown 1
  • Fast loading times
  • Very easy to pick up and play
  • Has an arcade feel to it, makes me think back to the 80s and 90s
  • Unique art style
  • Obtaining upgraded agility never gets old
Cons:
  • Enjoyable art style, but dated graphics
  • Can't really tell that it is 4K
  • Story telling drawings are not drawing me in
  • No static orb tracker
  • Literally does nothing new
  • Feels empty most of the time (not sure if it is because I am early in)

It is clear (as far as campaign goes) that this was designed to be an AA game, not an AAA game. I feel like it probably should have been at $39.99 game, but I haven't played Wrecking Zone yet (other than the technical test).

If the game remain consistent to what I have played so far, it will be a solid 7 for me.

It controls much, much better than CD1, and there is an expanded move set. There is also a much greater variety in enemy types.

I honestly don't feel like the graphics are dated, but the art style is simple and very readable. I played it right after playing some Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and they didn't jar me at all.

It has a very solid use of UE4. Great, detailed textures that are designed well for the style. Good materials and lighting. Loooong draw distances. lots of 'splosions.

Dialogue is fun.

It doesn't feel like anything else on the market right now. It's loads of fun, and hunting those orbs if as addicting as ever.

The animations don't really bother me like I thought they would. They certainly don't break any ground or stand out as great, but they are certainly serviceable.

TLDR: 75-80/100
Competent and enjoyable if not ground breaking. Nice to look at. Controls well, and visually extremely solid.

To be fair, gaming all over has turned into the click-baity "why game X sucks". Anytime I search for videos on a game I play my homepage turns into a flood of "this game sucks". Every game I play is apparently "broken" and "awful".

The click-baity world we live in has turned into extremes. Everything is either the best ever or it is total trash.

'Crackdown 3' feels dated after four years of development, but it's a fun throwback to the days of the Xbox 360

Crackdown 3 review: the Netflix Original of games

At this point, though, I’m just relieved and a little surprised that Microsoft and Sumo managed to ship another competent Crackdown game. Like most of what you’ll find on Netflix, it won’t blow your mind — but it’ll go out of its way to make you feel at home.

Reviews be damned, I'm really excited to play this. I didn't love the second game, but the first Crackdown is easily one of my favorite exclusives (on any system) from the prior generation. Bummed to see that 4 player coop was removed though.

Well if you really want to be fair then you should have acknowledged how games these days make it so easy for such content to exists.

This game is easily a 7.5 or 8 to me. If you notice its not being judged so much for the game itself. It's being judged against other open world games which is fuking bizarre. I really hope Microsoft continues to support this game and make a Crackdown 4. Dont let a toxic place like the gaming community talk them out of what is practically GTA with super cops. There's nothing else out there like it.

I think it's being judge harshly because it's one of the very few high profile exclusives Microsoft has put out recently . If they had a string of hits like Sony has, CD3 would be looked at more favorably imo. A fun mindless romp.

Well this thread has too many posts in it too but I don't see how that is proof that it got bad scores because its on Xbox

All you are telling me is that people are paying close attention to a game that has had a long development on a system that has first party problems.

Which is why I think it's being dumped on.

If this was on PS4, coupled with its list of exclusives, it would just be another game. Unfortunately for Microsoft, this is an important release.

I don't know if this is the case for everyone, but my HDR in Crackdown 3 was off by default so I enabled it.

It would get the same bad scores but you are right that nobody would blink an eye about it. Which I think is fair. Microsoft deserves the criticism when they put out lesser games at this point.

The question is whether its getting bad reviews because its an Xbox game and that is a laughable idea.

I think some are critisizing the game and Microsoft in general. And maybe that is fair?

We can and do have our own opinions it's just funny when people talk about certain games like they are the 2nd coming.
it is also funny when people who didn't touch the game or ever will go online and add their scores to say how bad it is when it is far from the truth.

Definitely agree with others in that the game is really fun, but could see how high expectations could cause some disappointment.

60/100 critics and 36/100 user score.
Which=universal dislike.

But some are so thirsty...
Serious question: Does it really matter? People who like it are still going to, and if the game got 10's across the board the people who don't like still wouldn't.

I mean do gamers only like God of War because of a numbber it got on a website?

I haven't finished it yet but so far it doesn't have the fun factor that the first one had, I still need to upgrade more but I'm not jumping several stories in the air yet or able to pick up cars etc. So far I think the review scores are probably fair, I'm talking the ones in the 60-70 range, I'll have to finish it before I can say for sure but 70 would be tops for me. Like I said before it has good bones, they could really have done something good with this but it seems like a bit of an unimaginative effort so far.

No. NO ONE has hailed this game as the second coming dude. NO ONE. People were expecting another Crackdown game. Not some GOTY Ip when the original Crackdown wasnt that either.

Thinking this might end up like ReCore, patched in a few months to make game better (more multiplayer modes etc.), it won't help with the metacritics though. Anyway, falling asleep on couch, play tomorrow instead.
