Assassins Creed Unity wrings current gen dry!

Beautiful game, lots of fun to play. But yes, the frame rate and pop ins are hard to ignore (and I'm trying REALLY hard to ignore them).

There's a lot going on with the game, graphically. Lighting, physics, and textures are all pushed hard. However, instead of reducing those graphical features to get a stable frame rate, Ubisoft decided to avoid a "downgrade" debacle in favor of big performance hitches. I would have made the same choice.

I'm only halfway through the campaign so my full review is still pending.
Have you ever given a negative review?

Okay, so assassins creed locked up my console and halo installed to 3% after 40 minutes… Screw this I'm going to play Lego Batman!

People on other sites in the comments saying that this is all thanks to Xbox One holding back the PS4 and PC...lol.

I just hope there is an alternate universe, where they made the PS4 version 1080p.

The game would be running in the single digits half if the time, no AA, PC low settings for graphics etc etc..

God people are stupid.

Real talk, this game should've been 720p to maintain a solid 30fps or delayed until spring.

So AC:Unity wrings current gen wallets dry, then?

Wow look at this s***, saw it on neogaf

"I tried to open a treasure chest, but was told I needed the Assassin’s Creed companion app to open it, with no additional information or context.

I tried to open another treasure chest, and was told I needed to sign up for Assassin’s Creed Initiates to open it.

When I paused the game, the second option in the pause menu is an eStore that lets you spend real money on time-saving boosts, bonus in-game currency, and so-on."

What a joke this game is, really hope Ubi gets a wakeup call. Probably going to be their best selling game ever though.

Ubisoft defining parity to the P with the performance issues on ALL platforms!

I still have it sealed. Might be a good time to return it now. I'll wait a few more days and see.

Even if this game worked, no way I would subject myself to this mess.

AC:U is popin

Holy cow. It's like Ubisoft didn't even try to hide it. They said they were limited AI-wise because of the lackluster CPU power, and yet they advertised "crowds of 10,000!" And now I know how that pieces together, but how can they not even bother to hide that awful transition?... :/

The game runs like Donkey poo on PC. Even on my second rig (which is pretty high end.)
Ubisoft is a joke. Ugh...
The new drivers did alleviate some of the pain though.

Black flag was fun but the reviews are lackluster at best and user reviews....just ouch. I am glad I passed on it.

Everyone who is playing it, except you it seems, is reporting atrocious framerates and pop-in.

I've been playing it on the PS4 for a good 3-4hrs in, and haven't noticed much of these atrocious framerate claims a few slow downs here and there, but nothing gameplay breaking.

People really need to try the game for themselves if they're even mildly interested, the game is pretty fun. The combat is definitely more of a challenge than previous AC games.

Although the graphics are a mixed bag, at times it looks pretty awesome, and other times it looks pretty bad. Reminds me of Driveclub with the graphical inconsistency.

Game runs like ass on PC regardless of your CPU. A few people on HardForums with 8C/16T intels are struggling to even maintain 30 when a bunch of NPCs are on screen lolololol.

Nevermind the fact any recent Intel has like 3x the IPC per core over AMD's Jaguar architecture.

So scust.

Good god the performance is all over the place.
On my rig (i7 4770k oc'd @ 4.0ghz & gtx sc'd 780s in SLI) I get a good 50-60fps maxed out with FXAA. There are hiccups and pop in though.

Cutscenes dip into the lower 20's.........
:meh:

I got the game but haven't played it yet but I will be soon. I don't know how bad the framerates are or aren't yet but it's hard to go by what people say online since 90% of the people talking about it haven't even tried it yet and usually are exaggerating. I don't know if reviewers had access to the day one patch or not. If I don't enjoy it I'll be trading it in next week when I go to pick up some other games.

You can tell it is poorly optimized by the PC requirements.
So glad my PC does not minimum requirements. Otherwise I would have wasted money.

I was just walking and an entire crowd of people popped in all around me lol. It was creepy.

So it looks like they brought back the old tired formula from the games prior to Black Flag. That's disappointing to hear.

I haven't read any of those reviews, and based on many of the, what I consider overreactions, I'm glad I didn't.

Yes there some framerate issues, but no more than any other assassins creed game, and the comexity in the visuals is mighty impressive, imo.

These are basically RYSE level visuals in an open world game. The animation is smooth, and there is a fantastic weighty, grounded feel to them. The fighting is slower, but you can die fast, and it has that really tangible feel. I haven't been playing long, so I can't go too in depth.

I like the new movement as well. I feel like I have more control of what I'm doing, and the new animations make it look more fluid.

The lighting, modeling, and sim elements are a whole new level and looks the way I wanted this new gen to look. Those materials... the AA is great too, with a very smooth look- jaggies are almost non existent. How anyone isn't impressed is beyond me.
