So got to play it last night. Did the story mission and 5 or 6 strikes as Titan Sentinal.

  • Love the new sounds. Everything sounds great and different.
  • Loving the nee visual effects, namely all particle stuff.
  • Sentinal class is good, but not happy at only being able to throw shield once.
  • Class shield not stopping splash damage is dumb. Hoping this is an beta error.
  • Guns don't seem very well balanced. There are clearly good and bad weapons.
  • Love that weapon perks now make big differences. Shame the perks per gun is too limited.
  • Power ammo drops are way too infrequent.
  • The. weapon slot system is ok, but seems pointless when you see how ammo is given and how many shots it gives you.
  • Not a huge fan of the strike. They tried to make it interesting with floors disappearing and a hjge AOE boss attack but it doesn't really work.
  • The Ghost is just annoying.
  • If the Homecoming mission is a good representation of the campaigh then it could be really enjoyable.

I will do crucible today and change class to Warlock.

I was able to throw it twice here. It may have a cool down.

The Sentinel class is bad ass. I think all the classes should have a offensive and defensive super.

Only played PvE. Quick thoughts on it.

Enjoyed the campaign mission. When it briefly opened up to add a couple randoms in was cool. Really dig the aesthetics. I call shenanigans on Zavalas' Titan Bubble, i died twice trying to get cover inside of it from the missiles.

Gameplay feels as good if not better that D1. Not really feeling the new weapon system yet. Probably because power ammo is far to sparse.

Strike is ok but it gets to some wide open areas that make me wish they added a 4th person to the strike. Boss is kinda annoying.

It does have a cooldown. If you look at where your grenade usually is that is your thow cooldown. You only just managed to squeeze that second one in.

I'll plan on playing tonight on XBO. If I do like it, I'll get it for PC.

The big complains on reddit and elsewhere are that they sacrificed pve to balance pvp, and unfortunately I think that's spot on.

Right now I could see myself completely reversing from a pve player mostly to pvp. The pvp is way more fun for me (primary weapons are... primarily used!).

What made the pve fun is what made the pvp an unbalanced mess... now we lost that fun. I can't see myself grinding strikes all afternoon, only being able to throw the occasional grenade and pop an underpowered super now and then.

I'll keep my preorder on PS4 and play for sure but not sure if I'm going to endlessly grind this one. Heck I still have the urge to play D1 pve for no other reason other than the shooting and gameplay.

PvE is fine IMO. I already done 15 strikes.

We have no idea what else is in the game. The armour seems to have an empty mod slot, maybe a mod will speed up cooldowns. Some. weapons might come with cooldown perks, maybe the raid weapons will have it maing them highly sort after.

The elemental mod in the beta ks rare class, which means there could be legendary and even exotic versions with extra benefits.

Still, I think it is fine as is. I just want to be able to use power weapons more.

I know it's a Beta, but I would hate to purchase and have to deal with another title pushing balance and updates for the first year again.

I understand balance issues, but there's a threshold there. It always seems it's smarter to wait 6 months to a year for the game to reach it's sweet spot.

Been exploring the strike and found 2 Lost Sector symbols. Can't seem to find anymore. Wonder if there is an entrance or something in between these 2 symbols?

Supers recharge time are not fine as they are.
They are. The base recharge time makes perfect sense relative to time required in a strike. In D1 strikes last 10 mknutes, in this beta they last twice as long.

In PvP you're not meant to have a super every 2 minutes.

The bigger issue with Supers is how unpowerful they are.

I'll check out the open beta on PS4 when it drops. I played the hell out of the first game and while it was a lot of fun it was also a major time investment. At times it felt like a damn job logging in every day in the hopes of getting the loot drop that I wanted. And then once said loot did drop it really didn't make much of a difference. Well, that's not true with some of the weapons. Fatebringer was a game-changer for Nightfalls with the right burn modifier and the Blackhammer sniper rifle before the change had to be one of the most powerful boss killing weapons.

For those who didn't stick with D1 though the later years, they really improved the drops a ton. It was still a grind, but there wasn't that "forever 29" or 31 or whatever. The only real problem was you could get a great legendary gun to drop, but only to have it have terrible perks and be useless. Hopefully the new fixed perks help that.

What was nice later on is you could just run heroic strikes or whatever and have fun and still grind out. You didn't have to do activity X to get drop Y. Plus special events like Iron Banner and Sparrow Racing had great drops. You could level just playing iron banner.

TTK fixed that. Was way to easy to hit max level. Weapon drops were far greater too.

Now in ROI it is a casual fest. Hittin 400 takes no time at all, or any effort. Don't need weapon drops either, just buy them from vendors who seem to have god or close to rolls on multiple things each week.

Oh and year 3 Fatebringer still rocks. I got mine Sunday night and instantly fell back in love:banana::bang:

I skipped the last DLC for D1 but played for well over a year and a half and got to experience much of the changes. Loot drops got better but by that time I had exhausted most of the available content. Most of what I wanted was locked behind the Raids. So I had to spend a lot of time on LFG to get put on a team. Some of the gamers I played with were cool and didn't mind explaining certain mechanics while just as many didn't want to be bothered and would boot a player for nonsense.

I guess my main issue is the lack of Raid matchmaking. Its like Bungie doesn't want everyone to be able to experience all the content the game has to offer.

Not agreeing and you are the 1st I have seen say this.
It will be changed I guarantee.

Somebody was the first to say everything, doesn't mean they were wrong.

I don't think it will change. If they change it significantly then PvP will suffer. That is something they don't want. Not too mention that sentinal and golden gun have perks to speed up the super in their other node.

As I said previously, we don't know if there will be things in game that speed it up. We have no clue what armour mods do. We have no clue what ghost perks do. Class items could easily have perks. We don't know all the weapon perks.

It makes far more sense to add a perk that speeds it up than it does to decrease the base time.

LFGs for raids is fine. The game just needs one in game. I have been using the Xbox LFG via game hub the last 3 weeks or so and got plenty of cool swag.

You guys have all played a ton more Destiny than me.. does the aiming/gunplay feel off?

I haven't played Destiny in over a year but I remember it feeling more like Halo 2/3 but a bit smoother and a lot more controllable, like Halo 5 but a touch better. Played a bit last night and I couldn't shake the feeling that it was a bit jerky and maybe a little stiff; if that makes any sense.

I was really tired after working like 14hrs though, so I'll give it another go soon.

I can't shoot worth sh*t.

Also, the XBOX one version is Dynamic Resolution. So I am guessing that's saying Bungie is letting this game scale in 4k and add a ton of graphics for the 1X?

Okay after that strike I uninstall that demo. I didn't do anything for me.

I wouldn't say it feels off. It is different to D1 though. What I will say is there seems to be alot more aim assist in this beta. I played a few strikes in D1 yesterday after a few hours in the beta and my aim was all over the place initially.

I agree that the way the game is now it caters to PVP.

They should definitely shorten cooldowns of abilities for PVE while keeping the longer cooldowns for PVP.

A weapons buff for PVE wouldn't hurt either.

They can't though. What ever they do in one mode transfers to the other.

If you want shorter nade cooldown you will want to find a gun with Grenadier or Army of One:wink:

According to Bungie, they've already made PVE changes since the beta build. They haven't mentioned the cooldowns specifically yet, but I'm not worried that this experience will be close to the final game:

"The PVE game tuning has changed pretty significantly since the Beta build was deployed. The nature of a Beta of this scale requires that it’s based off a build of the game that is now months old. So, in many cases, your feedback is helping us validate changes that were previously made based on internal feedback and playtesting. For example, we too felt that ammo (especially power ammo) was too scarce in PvE. In addition to retuning the drop rates, we built a system that guarantees power ammo drops for you and your Fireteam from certain enemies, giving power weapons a more reliable and predictable role in your arsenal. Other areas where we’ve made significant tuning changes include grenade effectiveness in PvE, Boss vitality, and weapon damage against non-player combatants."

Read that earlier. All those changes make sense.

All I want now is a significant super damage buff and I am good.

Also hope weapon rolls are better in the full game, cause they kind of suck for PvE in the beta.

I thought there would be more to do in the Beta. I played the strike a few times. I have no interest in Competitive. It just looks like more grind for better stuff...rinse and repeat. I'm not giving Bungie my money this time....maybe after reviews and the first cycle of patches (game of the year).

That's exactly what a loot game is.

Why would you think there was more to do in the beta. Not only was the beta content known for weeks, but it is a beta not a game trial.
