It is usually best with these kind of games.
But playing it now will land you in good stead for D2. Things will work in a very similar way, so getting used to grinding effeciently and effectively using things like infusion will help.

I took a break after launch too (the game was meh back then). That's kind of the problem with the game - it turns into a major time sink. I mean, the grind is not unreasonable at all, but many of us play more than one game at a time. I love the game, but time is always a problem. It isn't the kind of game you can pop in and out. Either you are in or out. Anytime something new hits I'll play hard for some time, then take a break.
Don't even get me started on raiding which takes 2-3 hours of mostly uninterrupted play time. I couldn't even find 2 hours of play time on a week night, only on the weekends.
I have no time for raids, so I won't be getting any of those done, nor achievements. I "might" try a raid to say that I have tried one, but I would rather do the story and strikes.

I've never done one either. Had plenty of fun in the other activities.
You can jump in the Crota raid solo. You'll get thumped right away but you can still jump in. I know at least the vault of glass starts with a task where you have to have two people standing on something.
Heck if we can find 4 more people we can try to organize a raid. I think my character on Xbox is like 350 light.
You would struggle to find somebody to guide you now anyway.
HHowever, I would strongly urge you to try, the raids are pretty much the best content the game has.

X1X for sure. I might double dip (never have I double dipped between two consoles) and get it for the PS Pro as well, but that is just a thought.
I have it preordered on PS Pro but may change. Would be nice to use the elite controller...

The X1X version will run at 30fps just like the X1, PS4 and PS Pro. However, it will have better graphics, textures, draw, etc.
Yeah that recent bit of news has made me 2nd guess. I ended up playing on both platforms with D1 and it was a nightmare I do not want to repeat. Of course the PS Pro is here for launch. D2 is kind of keeping me occupied, then I'll hit Forza hard in November along with COD and Battlefront. It is temping though.
