Diablo III thread

Not sure Ryu!

I just started a Wizard character and... I'm not sure how I feel about this class. If it weren't for all those paragon points, id have dumped it in the too slow basket 2 levels in.

Is Wiz a fun class?

It's about time for a new expansion. I want a new act and def a new class. Nothing has come close to my enjoyment with the Witch Doctor.

I have only gotten my first 100 paragons, and have gotten every class to 70... Except for Wizard. I really can't enjoy this class. I love flying around as the archon, but I just feel weak in the role (and I always play mage in games).

I've only gotten it to 40, but with the Cain set and gems I've loaded into it, gaining about 10 levels an hour.

Looking forward to crafting some new loot.

A new class would be awesome. And a new act while they're at it.

Archon build is pretty weak for Wizard as of 2.2. It got a big buff with 2.3, but you need the seasons only (not sure how this works on console) belt to make it shine. Of course, that's end-game talk. No idea how it is while leveling.

Whopper of a Diablo 3 patch arriving very soon on PC and consoles

The expansion-like Diablo 3 patch, numbered 2.4, arrives simultaneously on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One before 15th January.

"The January 15th date is the start of the new season," said Diablo community official Brandy 'Nevalistis' Camel (in the comments) "We plan to release the patch prior to the start of [the new season].

"While we typically patch on Tuesdays, dates can always shift if we run into technical issues during deployment preparations. This is why we do not provide hard release dates for any patch."

Strikingly, patch 2.4 contains a whole new zone filled with new enemies - a rarity in this game. But Greyhollow Island, as it's known, also represents Blizzard doing things a bit differently.

You see, Greyhollow Island isn't designed to adhere to any existing story nor extend it. It's designed for Adventure mode, a mode designed to be played over and over. Therefore, Greyhollow Island is designed for exactly that: many, many playthroughs.

To that end, Greyhollow will be mysterious and leave the unravelling of those mysteries up to you, and in whichever order you wish, if you wish to unravel them at all. You may only be there for a quick bounty blitz. There's more about Greyhollow Island in a blog post.

Patch 2.4 also introduces special dungeons with special challenges that relate to special sets of equipment. If you have all the pieces, a portal will open up.

On top of that, 2.4 brings piles and piles of new legendary items and powers, which are more bonkers than ever as seems to be the trend with Blizzard and Diablo 3. Bigger numbers equal more fun, and we're long past the days of Blizzard being sensible - and the game is better for it.

The big list of patch notes for Diablo 3 update 2.4 can be found on Battle.net.

That's awesome that they keep supporting it with not even charging for new areas and modes. Need to fire it up, theres just soo much in my backlog.

I hope the new area is bigger than the last new area they added. Which was disappointed small.

I just bought D3 UEE this Christmas. I can't believe they are still updating the game. I'm looking forward to playing it.

Excellent game. I played it to death and sold it last year.

But the game looks great, plays smooth, very polished, and fast loading menu screens. And like all Activision games (love em or hate em), they support their games with extra content and patches for years.

Diablo 2 probably got patch updates for 10 years.

When you can bump up the difficulty. Compared to old Diablo games, the default is super easy. You might beat the game only dying a couple times.

If you got the free downloadable "items invincible" piece of armour. It is a good starting piece. Don't sell it.

In Diablo 3, the only penalty you get for dying is you pay gold to fix your gear whose durability gets dinged. But if you are wearing this pre-order item I got (even if it becomes obsolete in stats), you never have to pay as your gear doesn't loses durability.

I didn't play the game enough at harder levels to get repeated killed and need to pay for durability repairs, but if you expect to play a lot and die a lot and run low on gold, do not sell or get rid of the Spaulders of Zakara.

Still waiting on a sub 20 digital sale for X1. Awesome it's still being supported though.

Even running Torment 6 rifts, boss encounters and so forth didn't come close to breaking the bank and I died a LOT. By the time you have the gear to run T6 rifts you pick up so much gold that it'll never be a problem.

That's good.

I was just skimming posts about it and some people were complaining they'd be dying a lot, paying $60k to fix gear and were broke.

A t10 goblin rift will likely net you a few hundred million gold, and that's without a bunch of gold find gear. Easy to get a goblin rift too, just cube a puzzle ring.

Well, when I logged off an hour ago, I managed to hit rank 25 with the crusader using Legacy of Nightmare rings, thorns and bombardment. A lot of fun using my skills in a certain order for insane dmg with convention of the elements cubed. Got a 74 grift in 11:59. I think I may be able to get into top 20 next time I play. Love this patch.

Edit: just made it to rank 11 with a 76 in 12:30! Pretty psyched.
