DOOM

Snapmap is genius allowing for campaign like experiences and coop.

Yeah it just feels like free DLC lol. PC players probably get this all the time, but as a console player it seems pretty crazy.

I have to say, I've had the best night on TDM in years playing this tonight. I don't like competitive game play multi player but this feels like a throw back to the 1990s Unreal Tournament, which got me into video games. I played this with a buddy for 3 hours straight tonight and only backed out of two games. I have not felt this comfortable with a shooter in years.

Better than Halo 5?

Single player?

I haven't finished Doom yet, but I'm already leaning towards yes. It's a game that knows exactly what it is and nails it... kind of like Wolfenstein before it, it just does what it does well IMO.

I have not played the retweaked Halo 5 campaign that just went live recently though.

Yeah, they tweaked all AI, sp difficulty, co op difficulty, weapon efficiency and balance for player and AI, enemy damage/health, Warden, new enemy moves and frequency, etc etc.. pretty big update overall. MP update is big too, I just haven't had a chance to hop back in and try it with all the other new games coming out.

Either way, I doubt they can tweak it enough to make up for the slow story and boring walkthrough levels. Maybe they can at least make it a bit more fun though.

this game plays as satisfyingly as it looked! best shooting in FPS for a long time

in other games you sometimes go "*sigh* another room to clear out" but in this i look forward to the next area of baddies

Just going off videos and impressions this looks like a Doom/Timesplitters hybrid. Doom meets fast and fluid gameplay plus a great map making component.

Just by going off of that comment it sounds like you've never played a Doom game in your life.

Just a shout out to my fellow PC gamers.

If you have a graphics card that has the available VRAM (in this case 5gig+) you can enable 'Nightmare' Graphics mode which is a step above the 'ultra' level.

Add the command line 1 +menu_advanced_AllowAllSettings to your steam launcher settings and you are good to go.

Can't believe some people are knocking this game because 'It isn't scary enough'......

Doom was NEVER meant to be scary. The only one that had jump scares was Doom 3 and even that game is probably the worst Doom out of all the games. This Doom is actually more faithful to the original version thankfully.

Doom 3 didn't feel that way to me. Seemed much slower and methodical, though it has been a while.

It was a little slower but that's because they didn't default with run activated. MP in Doom 3 had run by default and was very fast...

I guess they're finally letting the reviews loose. It's running an average of 8.0 on Metacritic (PS4 version) -- for those who care, anyhow, which I suspect is a small number in this thread. Doom seems to be one of those games where you know whether you'll enjoy it or not, based on watching a few minutes of gameplay footage.
