DOOM

The IGN review is getting crushed on YouTube. Meh, it's just his opinion..

I keep browsing this thread, and I keep getting interested in this title. I had zero intentions in buying it but I am really intrigued now.

Pretty intense game, man. When the music ramps up, you better have your s*** straight, or that's your ass. It's that simple. f***ing enemies coming at you from left, right and center..

Last night I had to battle 2 of those huge devil lookin dudes at the same time. Tried to strike up the chainsaw and get ammo? f***ing empty. I just dropped my head and let the ass kicking commence.

This kind of 'hype' reminds me of when I first read about Wolfenstein, I had no interest in the game prior to reading a thread on this forum and it turned out to be the most enjoyable series of this generation so far for me.

I will pick up Doom also but only after I finish atleast 3-4 games in my backlog.

Damn they went with the 7.1. Lol

Oh well.
That's 2 games in the past few months that they pulled that s*** on. Coincidently they didn't receive a review copy of either game, they had to play both at the same time the rest of us did.

lol Sinking feeling isn't it? You gotta start throwing hands and make them work for it. :hehe:

Reviews in progress is something they will continue to do moving forward due to demand.

Well above Ultra(as Ultra isn't the highest preset) @4K...my fps aren't 60fps,instead all over the place so I played it a bit @ 1080p and its a looker that's for sure.

Just finished the campaign, holy hell what a crazy game. I literally had to take a break between each encounter in the last level. Super intense!!

Anyway, game of the generation so far for me. Not only is it a great FPS with a lengthy and satisfying campaign (so rare nowadays), but it's everything you would want from a Doom game. Just awesome.

Go 4k and then you can lower the "Scaling" to nail the performance, while keeping image quality up there, add a tiny dash of sharpness and you can keep it looking very similar.

I love all of the PC specific features this game has for performance scaling; even four levels of settings for performance analysis, frame rate, cpu/gpu load, frame times etc etc.. This should be the standard for every PC game going forward.

And holy f***, TSSAA 8X is some wizard level s***, I wonder if it's based on what the Crytek bro used for Ryse on XBO. Killer performance and it looks amazing. Looking forward to the Vulkan.

So glad enemies flinch to being shot. I love blasting limbs off without killing them. Such satisfying.

Just saw the commercial. I'm probably going to get the game for the Xbox One next month. It needs some love and Doom seems like the perfect game for that.

Don't do that bro. Get it on PS4 instead. The Xbox version looks like some NES type of s***, 10 frames per second with a 480p resolution. I've played better games dodging bird s*** out of the sky on a cloudy day.

Ask VaL. He'll tell ya...

But Intelly said Doom games usually run good on Xbox and he's my go to Xbox guy. In Intelly i trust, most unbiased dude i've ever met on the net. Are you being serious with me? I know the Xbox One has that resolution problem or whatever you call it but i never really paid much attention to that. I'm just a gamer wanting to play good games.

One thing I love about this game, every gun remains important until the very end. You're not just replacing guns with more powerful guns, they all actually become very powerful if you upgrade and complete mastery challenges. I was using the machine gun almost as much at the end of the game as when I first got it.

I've just realized that myself. Even though I've only got the pistol and shotgun. I thought I'd never need the pistol after getting the shotgun until I realized how little ammo there is. So now I'm relying on the pistol for the stragglers. Nice balance there.

This game is seriously the change of pace I've needed lately. Between dark souls and the Phantom pain, both requiring slow pace and patience, Doom has brought the total opposite. Over the top adrenaline rush. It's a breath of fresh air.

I can see how that could be a good thing. That's what youre referring to right, a demand for extended reviews? They didn't really have a choice with The Division, and Doom though because no review copies for those games were sent out, just sayin. You know how gaming sites are, always want to either be the site that gets the early review, if that doesn't work out be the site that gives a great game a low review score. Either way the site is going to rake in hits.

The Doom formula in a more open world is awesome but also pretty damn challenging.

I'm dying a lot more than I thought I would in the early levels. I'm on Hurt Me Plenty difficulty.

I've only died once a few hours on and that's only because I missed a jump.

Weapon mods are a godsend. I highly recom the plasma rifle stun mod for barons and bigger baddies.

Do you stay on the move constantly when fighting, or do you tend to slow down, or stop, to aim before shooting?

I'll say for me I've found that the more I'm moving the better I am doing, especially later in the game. I'll only stop when I see a good opportunity to bust out one of the big guns or when there are only a few enemies left.

Same here, I don't stop moving when the fun starts. Ill slow down long enough to strafe back & forth and kill a few or hit a tough enemy, but when it gets hairy I run straight forward and shoot anything that I can I immediately take out so I can get my health back.

This game needs cheat codes. Not because I need them but because since the game goes back to its roots.

What difficulty are people playing on? I beat the game on hurt me plenty, but am ashamed to say I'm getting it handed to me on the first level of ultra violence lol.
