Dragon Age: Inquisition - Nov. 18

Because I like the Dragon Age series, I'm pretty much going to get this dlc next week. But I'm going into it with expectations very low. After the Jaws of Hakkon lowered the bar and the Witcher 3 raising the bar, I'll be pleasantly surprised if the content is any good.

I'll wait for the reviews of the DLC before I decide on buying it. Not really interested if it's only 1-2 hours of content.

When it comes to DLC claims about how much game time you get, make sure to do x/2=y, where:

X = content length claimed
Y = actual content length

Pretty much. I'll be waiting for user reviews before I decide to pick it up or not. I did enjoy the main game a lot, but I still need to complete Witcher 3 still so I'm not lacking in RPG goodness to play.

Hows it feel? I didn't get the last one. It was a tad rich for my blood.

Realistically, I've got Witcher 3 ahead of me...

I didn't get it, don't plan on it. I lost my DA save, so I couldn't play it even if I wanted to. I'm a bit over DA, so that's okay. I'm in the middle of The Witcher, too, and have other games I'd rather play instead.

Sounds like you and DA don't really get along for reasons that are not related to games themselves. Having to return a rented DA2, losing saves for DAI...

Yes, I blame the PS4. First, I stopped playing DA2 two-thirds of the way through because I wanted to capitalize on a nice PS4 trade-in credit deal. Then a few months after finishing DA:I, I was having some problems with my PS4, and I re-initialized it. That fixed the problem but wiped the DA:I save in the process (I knew that would happen; didn't mind).

I enjoyed the game, probably more than most people. I think they did a good job with the characters, and I had fun with the combat. I don't really feel the need for more, though. 130 hours was enough. If I had the DA:I save intact, I'd probably get the DLC eventually -- mostly to hear a little more banter with the crew -- but I wouldn't be in a rush.

That's the "problem" of this game I think - After putting 95 hours into the game I'm drained out and I have no intention to start over. I had the greatest fun, loved the game, but I've seen it all already and I got so attached to my first run that I don't really want another version of the arc. The only reason I would go back would be a highly story-driven and self contained DLC, but either that's still in works or Bioware has no such DLC planned.

Ok. I can say that this DLC is better than the first outing, Jaws of Hakkon.
However that not really saying much.

Pros:
More story based content
Better pacing as compared to previous outing

Cons:
Lore wise, the content raises more questions than it answers. The question of what is causing the tremors is answered but it leads to other more important questions that don't get touched.
The new gear you get, while cool looking, is still not better than some of the stuff you can craft end game or receive from the 1st DLC.
Length is moderately short. I got through it in 3 hours. ( Mind you I have a OP character at this point)
The price on this is $14.99. You can get a copy of the full game for about $30. So to charge essentially half the cost of a new game for content that lasts about 3-4 hours seems like a rip off. Had this been an expansion a la Awakening, I'd have no complaints but this is piece meal dlc.
There is very little new banter between companions in the dlc. Most of the new banter is done between the Inquisitor and the people he/she meets in the Deep roads.

Overall, unless you are REALLY into dragon age lore, I'd say skip it or catch it on youtube. To compare it to previous Bioware DLCs, this is NOT Citadel dlc or Lair of the shadow broker type dlc. But its not Pinnacle station either. It sits somewhere in between and that normally would be ok if the price wasn't so steep.

Bit disappointed by the length. Not really interested in revisiting the game for a night, I want something a bit meatier.

Thanks for the input. Hardly any new banter or interactions with your group is disappointing. That would be one of the main draws for me. Good to know I'm not missing out on a great piece of DLC.

For what its worth, Kotaku echos my sentiments in their review of the new dlc.

If you’re a big Inquisition fan who wants to spend more time exploring and learning about the game’s world, I’d say sure, play The Descent. It has some cool moments, and while its quality is uneven, there’s more good than bad. If you’ve moved on to other games and can’t remember when you last thought about Thedas, Lyrium, Darkspawn, or the Grey Wardens, you can safely skip it.

That Dragon Age DLC we always wanted is finally here. Trespasser is set in 2 years after the end of the Inquisition, and is coming out in September 9th.

The last single player DLC for the game better be excellent. This better be mindblowing. And if you ask me, it's set to be like that.

Hoping that romance will continue in the new dlc.

Without that it's going to be pointless, especially those who romanced Solas.

Yeah the Solas one will be very interesting , but hopefully they got something for everyone (if only a scene and some extra dialogue that would do nicely) and as two years have gone by would be great if they had.

If it is like the first 2 story DLC's then I'm preparing myself to be underwhelmed and to over pay for it. Sorry to be so pessimistic but Bioware is not Batting 1.000 with their dlc with Dragon Age.

For all I know it's exactly like Citadel DLC for Mass Effect 3. So no it's not like the first 2 DLCs. BTW I heard the second one was handled by Bioware Austin.

Third times a charm and all that. The trailer does look far more interesting than the previous two DLC's, so here's hoping this one will be worth the price.

I'm currently playing The Descent now, hardest s*** I've played in a while. That one part where I had to fight waves of Darkspawn was brutal.

Still haven't finished it yet.

Downloading the last DLC, "trespasser" right now. Impression to follow later tonight/ early tomorrow.

Finished "trespasser". If you get any of the dlcs, THIS is the one to get. Trespasser serves as an epilogue to the main quest line. A few of the decisions and choices you made along the way are mentioned directly and indirectly in this new content.

Pros:
New party banter
New out of combat scenes with party members
New locals to visit
New weapon/armor
The questline directly answers some of the big questions that the ending left ambiguous and also answers some of the series-long unanswered questions.

Cons:
The content is short. I got through it in 3 hours.
Based on length, content is SEVERELY over priced. Something Bioware has been having issues with as of late.
Purely my opinion, but this content feels like it was cut and repackaged to sell as dlc. Having finished it, the original end point doesn't feel as complete as this new one does.

Neutral:
Trespasser's ending is unambiguous. From it we know exactly where the next game will take place and who will be the main antagonist. I can't wait to see what Bioware's writers cook up for DA 4.

Rambling as it is very early in the morning here but this is the dlc to get if you're going to continue with the next Dragon Age game. Trespasser drops too many big revelations for the hardcore fan to pass up. But wait for it to go on sale as it isn't very long.

IGN has an article about all the free updates that Rockstar has given all players of GTA.

It got me thinking, how after GTA, and the Witcher, dishing out all these free updates, the idea of paying for minimal dlc seems... Painful. I have a copy of Destiny that I haven't gotten into, because I know if I want to do anything end game, I probably have to shell out the price of another game.

Give us freebies! :p
