Dragon Age: Inquisition - Nov. 18

I don't disagree with some of the sentiments. Alot of it feels like more of the same. Some of the quests are glitched in that the achievements don't show up. The DLC isn't much for story and does feel like a quest line that got cut during crunch time and re added as DLC. So far its a 6.5/10. But for how fast I'm getting through it, it is severely over priced.
If I had to compare it to a previous Bioware DLC it would be Bring down the sky for ME1.

That said, it lays a good foundation for future dlc with the lore its creating.
Challenge wise, its tough. I'm at level 26 and there has been a few enemies that have given me a run for my money.

Kinda rambling cause its nearly 2 AM here.

After completing the dlc, I can honestly say I'm disappointed that Bioware charged $15 for this.
The dlc shed a little light on some of the lore but ALOT of it was a waste of time. The revelations, if you want to call it that, shows up near the end.
The last big quest before the final boss fight was a long fetch quest.
Not much new banter between companions if any.
The new loot you find most times is not better than stuff you can craft. Again the exception is some of the stuff at the end.

I feel like for $15 I got taken for a ride, and I've NEVER felt that way about any dlc Bioware has put out before.

I'm not saying it wasn't enjoyable but I guess I expected more at that price point. I came away underwhelmed.

Thanks for the impressions. They match what other people have been saying. It does sound underwhelming. I'm particularly disappointed by the lack of new banter or party interactions. If all it has to offer is more of what I already spent 130 hours doing, with a minor reveal during the end, I'll pass, at least for now. I've got better games to spend $15 (or less) on.

I remember how great Lair of the Shadow Broker was. Now that was some DLC worth paying for.

Lair of the Shadow Broker and The Citadel DLC were masterpieces. Hakkon seems like Return to Ostagar level at best.

I made the mistake of going over to the Bioware fourms. I swear, every time I go over there, its like going to the wrong part of town at night in the middle of a sweltering summer.

One of the writers came out and said this dlc didn't get worked on until after the main game shipped. This was in response to fans claiming cut content. Now usually I tend to agree with the devs but this just has that feel of " we pieced some stuff off the cutting room floor". Plus I kinda feel Bioware has bait and switched me with the game before........ Which leads me to a rant.

Rant ON:
I keep thinking back to the Pax Prime Demo they showed when the game was pre alpha.

Now while the final product was enjoyable, it is not nearly as impressive in my mind as the pre-alpha stuff they showed off. To me they showed us what they could do in all its glory then reigned themselves in and gave us Dragon Age: Skyrim lite.

Rant over.

This is my most played game, but I really aren't being motivated to download the new content. If the story was earth shaking, ground breaking, I'd be all up in that grill.

However, I just started my rogue and am more interested in seeing what I missed out on with my other companions.

Yeah, based on impressions this DLC is a no go for me. Hopefully they do better on the next one.

Plus, I am perfectly happy with Vanilla content on my Mage play through.

I'm happy that I got a new power as inquisitor and some of the weapons you get at the end. The main story was nice and they should have made the side quests in the main game like the main quest in this DLC. One of the fights in the end is very hard on nightmare so I really enjoyed that. The game felt much more buggier than before(imo). I really liked the area but would agree that it wasn't worth $15 but I don't regret getting it......if you can understand that.

Yeah,EA always overcharges for their expansion. I can believe I paid like $100 for all the Origins crap.

If you just started playing the game, you might as well grab this one. It basically adds a new map. Not that Inquisition is lacking in them (which is why people don't like this DLC), but it's better than going back to it after finishing the game.

Thanks. I was looking forward to it, I just I wait out a little longer, & buy it next to more DLC. More is planned right?

Edit: Oh wait, its not on PS4 yet? Hmmm, ok then, I wait anyway.

Well, I lost my DA save during a re-initialize of my PS4, so no DLC for me. No big deal, I guess. 130 hours in the world was plenty. The Dakkon DLC looks kinda meh. I'll be bummed if they come out with some really good SP DLC, though.

Gah....I still haven't bought this game.
Going to get it on the PC.
Seems well worth the money from following this thread.

Now is a good time to get it. They have fixed a lot of the annoying bugs and crashes on PC. Plus, the game is very good. Just don't get too hung up on doing side quests.

Sounds like the perfect excuse to start a new playthrough with a new class.

Yeah, I could always do that. I would play as a female character, probably a warrior. I'd go down the main path and skip most of the sidequests.

I'm not feeling like it right now, though. Finished 130 hours in that world, then around 60 hours in another huge, open world (Far Cry 4). And we've got Witcher 3 in about 6 weeks. Gah. I'm OD'ing on open-world games this year. Right now, I'm taking a break from the big fellas and just playing little indie games.

Some free DLC, to anyone interested in the multiplayer component. It releases Tuesday, May 5th, and it is free of charge. I never played the MP and don't have any interest, but I thought someone else might.

"BioWare has announced that all owners of Dragon Age: Inquisition will receive a new multiplayer expansion, for free. The expansion is called Dragonslayer and it’s centred around fighting dragons, hence the name."

"Three new playable characters will join the roster as you explore an all-new Ferelden castle. Dragonslayer will release May 5 on PC, PS4, PS3, Xbox 360, and Xbox One."

"The DLC will feature new agents, an Avvar warrior from Fallow Mire known as Skywatcher, Zither! The Virtuoso. The next DLC will also feature a character who will be very familiar to those who played Dragon Age 2. The beautiful Raider Queen of the Eastern Seas Isabela will be there as well."

I found the game to be very tedious and boring.

Biggest issues:

-Loot/Inventory: Boring loot & awful inventory management
-Dialoge/Story: Long winded and bland dialogue, unengaging story
-Combat: Awful tactical control, very spammy MMO type gameplay
-Quests: Never-ending fetch quests and Ubisoft-like busywork

If none of those things bother you, or if you enjoy playing a mmo as a singleplayer game, then this game might be for you.

I thought it was awful.

I enjoyed it. It wasn't their best game, but then, I've never gotten into the DA franchise all that much, compared to their other work. I gave it an 8.5, irrc. I thought the story was pretty well told, and some of the characters were engaging, likeable, and well-realized, for a videogame. The environments were varied, and exploration was worthwhile if not particularly exciting. The combat was fun and had plenty of options (I played as a mage), although it started to feel by-the-numbers after a while.

I'd say the main drawback was that the world felt artificially stuffed with a lot of uninspired, shallow sidequests. That dragged the game down, slowed the pace, made it seem too long.

The game is definitely too long. I got bored when I got to the higher level areas. It was like, "more of this again???". I still haven't finished it. Still a good game, and this coming from someone who is not a big RPG fan.

The other problem with loot in addition to the inventory was the fact that 90% of the loot was junk, and money was useless. I got about 1/2 way through and realized that there was no point in picking up most of the junk you find. The crafting was ok, but nothing special, but that was the only real way to get useful gear. I would have enjoyed it more with more interesting gear drops like Diablo. May have made those side quests and exploration more fun.

Yeah, that's true about the loot/economy. Most of what you picked up was worthless. Even when you traded it in for money, there wasn't anything worth spending it on.

Almost 90 hours in, have final story mission left and 2 dragons to go. Def got my money's worth with this game.

I just want the next story DLC that comes out down the road to be good.

What about the new shop dlc that just came out? They claim you can buy epic loot at the new store now.

Not Epic at all. My late game gear and 1st story DLC is better than what the emporium offered.

Dragon Age: Inquisition to ditch PS3, Xbox 360 for future DLC

BioWare will abandon the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Dragon Age: Inquisition for future DLC.

The developer hasn't said how many add-ons it is still planning to launch.

Existing PS3 and Xbox 360 players will be able to carry their save files across to PS4 and Xbox One - if they keep within the same console family - via a new save transfer tool.

The tool will launch as part of the game's July update (Patch , BioWare has said.

Transfer to/from PC will not initially be possible.

Previously-released DLC such as the Jaws of Hakkon and Spoils of the Avvar packs will be free on PS4/Xbox One if you bought them on PS3/Xbox 360. Promotional items will also carry over.

You'll just need a new copy of the game, then.

Handily, Dragon Age: Inquisition is currently half price in the Xbox Ultimate Game Sale. Or if you can wait a little longer, it will join the EA Access subscription programme in August - so you could just subscribe to that for a month and play any new DLC that way.

Dragon Age creative director Mike Laidlaw previously told Eurogamer that Inquisition had been a challenge to develop across five platforms and two console generations, and bemoaned the "memory limitations" that had caused some ideas to be cut.

It could be that the upcoming DLC will be able to move beyond these limitations for the first time now that the PS3 and Xbox 360's decade-old hardware does not have to be considered.

But what will future DLC add? BioWare said earlier this month that "we're not quite done with story content for DAI just yet". Shortly after, a marketing survey leaked ideas for a new campaign add-on that would reveal "the final fate of the Inquisition" and that would be "a last adventure".

The DLC's story will revolve around confronting "the one who started it all" and about facing "a great evil before it is too late". Players who have reached Inquisition's ending will have a good idea who that may refer to.

Game is now free with EA Access!

Any recommendations on character class? I can't decide!
