Who Will Win E3?

A meh conference from Sony, which is what I expected. Seems like they're putting this info out there now to deflate expectations and make it clear that there will be no surprises this year. Fine. Maybe there will be some little surprise related to content or maybe a release date given for Days Gone (or Dreams, which is still MIA), but that's about it.

Looks like the excitement will come from MS this year. We hope.

Or maybe Bethesda.

I just hope it doesn’t turn out like MS last two attempts, I forget the names to them, but I bought the first one on 360, it was neat.

Well they pulled it off with Little Big Planet. It will be good but their biggest problem will getting people to understand what it even is (and actually releasing sometime this century)

Sorta, it think it just had better marketing and a cuter aesthetic really helped. I really enjoyed the last one and the cart one tho

Two of my favorite E3 gifs from the past.

I feel the pre-E3 lull setting in. No big news or announcements for a while.

For anyone interested in Biomutant, it won't be at E3, but it will be at Gamescom in August.

Xbox

They relied too much on Halo, Gears and Forza over the years. My hype for those games are at zero. I do expect new IP's although they won't measure up to Sony offerings IMO. We constantly hear "wait for E3" but nothing ever happens. Ya saling me hopes and Dreams. *tear drops*

Sony

Ghost of Tsushima + Deathstranding + The Last of Us 2 gameplay all in one show is insane. Sorry, the Xbox can't compete.

Nintendo

No Metroid or Beyo 3 is a L.. Nintendo sounds like it will be meh.

RLOU2 and Dearhstraong fanelmah You omr be exciting?

They never said it won't be anything new. Focusing on 4 games and showing 4 games are 2 entirely different things.

We haven't seen gameplay in three of those titles. The exciting part is seeing those games in action. Many of us waited all gen for this moment (TLOU2). That alone is worth it for some people.

They are terrible at new IP's outside of indies. I waited for new hit since Gears. Things won't all of a sudden change.

More like phone hackers. They control my keyboard at times. It's annoying.

Anyway I'll leave this here

But... no one has said that.

He's being dramatic but there have been a lot of tweets as well as people on forums acting like they are disappointed, doesn't make much sense to be honest. We know what all of that haven't released a game in the last year are working on so we are going to go through a bit of a dry spell when it comes to big announcements, doesn't mean we aren't getting a ton of new games though.

People like announcements. Nothing wrong with that.

Sure but I think debut gameplay from two new IP's and the sequel to one of the best games of all time would be enough to get people excited instead of bitching about no new big announcements lol.

This is kind of where Sony's plan of announcing games far off comes back to bite them a little. When they have a lul like this it seems like nothing new has been announced for a while.

Atleast you get new IPs....and big reworks of long loved franchises.

Maybe I’m in the minority but I’m far more interested in seeing gameplay for Last of Us 2, Death Stranding, the next Halo, Red Dead, Crackdown’s multiplayer, Splinter Cell and Cyberpunk than I am for potential surprises. Outside of Bethesda games, surprises generally mean non-gameplay videos of games that are years away. They’re usually concepts.

I thought Andy was joking around with Hedon about the witch thing and it didnt make sense. Now I know he was referring to the only member on here that I have on ignore. Now it makes sense.

Yeah it's the same issue MS has been going through the last couple of years, we already knew everything their main studios were working on for a long time, sadly I think we still do even when they aren't announced yet lol. Maybe the coalition could surprise us with something other than Gears but that's doubtful, especially with that retailer leak that seems pretty legit now.

True, big announcements are always fun but as you said they tend to be for games we won't be able to play for a long time to come. We all just have to remember that this hobby isn't one for people who need instant gratification, games take longer to make than movies these days.

Yeah don’t get wrong. I’m not anti-surprises. Just against surprises without substance.

It’s like finding out you won a trip...that you can’t take for at least 3 years, destination could change and of course could be canceled. It’s merely a good intention and not a commitment to anything.

Microsoft does need to sell their long term commitment. Explaining how they’re stocking AAA developing talent is more substantial to me than a teaser trailer with no gameplay and no real sign of how big a production it’ll be. Good example is Recore which showed off a teaser trailer for what looked like a AAA game which later released as an unfinished AA game.

Reveals without gameplay mean nothing.
