Football/Soccer Video Games Discussion

Playing pro club seasons with 4-6 other guys is something I can do until the wee hours of the morning. From what I've seen on Pro Clubs it seems pretty similar though the games definitely are playing unlike what I saw in a few hundred matches in '14. While I can see many similarities to '14 I can also see how much has changed quite clearly and can't see myself ever wanting to go back to '14. I'll need to play another few dozen matches in '15 before I draw any full comparisons/conclusions. I am sure EA will do some fine-tuning if they see any disturbing trends (like 30+ yard shots dropping too much).

Pro Clubs is such an overlooked mode it's disappointing. EA never do much in the way of improving it. I'm looking forward to it though, it's been my most played mode for years now and there have been a couple of improvements to it from what I've seen.

Enjoying the full game if I'm being honest, not much has changed minor changes from 14 but all for the better nonetheless.

Does anyone suffer from the image of the game not fitting the screen completely? I had the problem in the demo and had hoped it would be sorted when the game was released, no luck. It's a disgrace actually, I didn't have a problem with the Xbox One version during access.

It needs to be patched and soon.

Did they fix the defensive issues from the demo? I'm still on the fence. I'm not a hardcore fan of the sport so I may just stick with 14.

yeah only through ball and shooting is different (through ball is manual, shooting is semi)

thats similar too mine, but my crossing and air balls are semi/manual too. i dont know then. game feels different to me

ya, i'm looking forward to see how clubs plays with the new level of inertia. can see there being a lot more time for attackers and a more room for error for defenders (both in good ways)

in ps4 settings if you change your screen "barrier"/size to the very smallest it will fix that for fifa 15. not sure if xb1 is the same

Xbox One works perfect and fits to size. Problem with the fix above is it will effect all of my games. It's not worth it, it's something EA should fix.

something i always wanted in FIFA is in this one atleast... aggregate scores actually show on the scoreboard!

Thought they did that last year? Or was it just at the top of the screen during games?

it only showed it before kick off in the little practice arena.. and when it displayed the half time and full time score at the end of the halves.. but it never had it on the actual scoreboard during the match

I don't think i like this years fifa will give it some more time.and stuff like this don't help

FIFA 15: the Digital Foundry verdict

On balance, this year's FIFA makes a satisfying march forward on technical grounds, for both PS4 and Xbox One alike. From the new bokeh depth-of-field effect, to the new player animations and revamped lighting model, both versions offer practically like-for-like returns on EA's investment into its Ignite engine. A slew of other subtle extras make it one of the series' more progressive entries overall, and crucially, both perfectly hold at the 60fps mark where it counts.

But with all the additions being made, there are already signs that the thin end of the wedge is dividing the PS4 and Xbox One versions. The omission of motion blur from the Microsoft release, for example, plus a few occasional frame-rate dips during cut-scenes, suggests the weight of these engine advances is starting to take its toll. It's rare to see a break in parity between the modern entries in this series, but FIFA 15 marks the first time a more obvious distinction can be made.

It's not a deal-breaker of course. To the Xbox One version's credit, it receives 14 exclusive Legends players for FIFA's Ultimate Team mode, joining an existing roster of 41 Microsoft-exclusive players from last year. From a content perspective this is a boon, but in the face of the PS4 version's technical advantage perhaps a trivial one - give or take your commitment to this mode. The PC version also makes a sturdy first use of the Ignite engine; a frills-free offering outside of its 4x MSAA, but - for better or worse - a match for the PS4 version in visuals and frame-rate locks.

To add what else they said in the comparison video.......In a curious twist, the Xbox One's FIFA 15 demo features the effect - and at no apparent performance penalty. What's just as strange is that this Liverpool versus Manchester City demo actually loads on first booting the Xbox One retail disc with the effect intact, but once the match is played out, motion blur is switched off for the main game (a bug perhaps?). In all, this is the only major technical division between the three versions - with the PC release retaining the effect. that's obviously a bug..

I see a patch incoming for the Xbox One version, looks like it's a bug that has cause the difference.

Wow! These articles are soooooo redundant and unremarkable its not even funny. DF is a joke. LOL. Both games look and play identical. The One needs a patch for motion blur but its not worth even remotely creating an entire article about. Much less the banter than follows from stuff like this. I've said it before and will say it again; the performance of both machines are really close regardless the hardware within them. The whole console war over this insignificant stuff is the thorn in this generation's side. I'm going to download the demo and decide If I'm gonna buy digital or wait. FH2 and Mordor are due for an incoming next week so this may come at a later date....

I can do that...

Then stop complaining, nobody is forcing you to read DF threads. If you're going to respond with the same tired posts about how they're (DF comparisons) lame and boring...then simply stop posting in them. s***ting them up with your same tired trite isn't an option. If you feel you can't contain yourself, send me a PM and I'll help you when it comes to DF threads. I swear you weren't nearly this whiny during last generation's DF threads for some strange, unknown to all, absolutely not at all due to 360 being the victor in these face-offs type reason.

Back on topic: Meh to the results. Par for the course and all that jazz. Pretty much told people before these consoles launched how these comparisons were going to play out based on the leaked specs. Too many people didn't want to believe in truth so they stuck to fiction. Two platforms of the same GPU/CPU architecture are always going to turn out like this. Long gone are the days of 2006 PS3 vs 360 differences. Framerate and resolution will always be the major differences between these due to as I previously stated their hardware similarities. You might see more pronounced stuff like reduced compute effects on XBO in comparison to PS4 later in the generation as developers start to utilize compute shaders more but even then you guys shouldn't expect colossal differences.

Wait? This is an opinion forum for games right? So, let me get this straight; you're asking me to not post my opinion on a forum created for sharing opinions about video games and all things concerning video games? Seriously?!

Even as a mod you s*** up plenty of forums here with the same crap, over and over and over again. Pot meet kettle. I shared my opinion on the topic at hand. Agree or disagree but as far as I know, I'm in the zone.

BACK ON TOPIC...(seeing as the "SUPER MOD" seems to have a problem doing so....)

Aside from the slide show provided by DF, Fifa 15 looks great on all platforms. Just wish people could get past the small crap and look at the bigger picture.

No, I'm telling you (big difference) to stop with your persecution complex in every thread involving PS4/XBO. You do it here, sales thread ad nauseam and you stifle discussion every time because everyone decides that talking about the purpose of that thread is no longer worthwhile and instead decide to focus on you and your inane posts. So it becomes yet another thread of you whining about the thread as if you couldn't read the title and comprehend what the thread was about, talking about how much more awesome the Xbox One is and how boring the PS4 is and how it has no games. You do this in so many threads. Example being, in the Hardware/Software SALES thread. What exactly does Kinect working for you and how "innovative" it is compared to Sony's "always making promises" have to do with the current sales state of either console? What does it have to do the current sales trends of their platform? What does it have to do with this week's PAL numbers? What does it have to do with this week's Japanese sales numbers? What does it have to do with last month's NPD results? If you want to make an estimate of the breakdown of XBO Kinect vs Kinectless SKU, go for it. I think it would be awesome to talk about quite frankly; I wouldn't mind discussing such to be honest. Though I doubt we'd ever get actual numbers, never the less it'd be fun to take an educated guess.

Writing a wall of how awesome XBO and how much Sony sucks/is evil then writing one sentence at the tail end about how it's all about the games and who cares about sales/DF discussions IN A THREAD ABOUT SALES OR DF discussion doesn't absolve you of pointless offtopic bickering because you feel as if your platform of choice is being threatened.

I get it, I really do. You love MS and the system the created, absolutely nothing wrong with that. I completely understand it, it's just like sports and sports team. We have an entire subforum dedicated to how awesome that console and that company is. There are many posters in that forum who are just as big of fans of the system as you and you can pretty much get a great echo chamber going any time you want. You don't need to defend MS in every thread in which the XBO is mentioned, you don't need to justify your purchase in every thread in which someone doesn't view the company or it's system in the same light you do. You don't need to try and convince people to buy XBO over PS4, you don't need to try to "equalize" the two consoles shortcoming, you don't need to tell people it sucks.

If you want to make a thread dedicated to spreading the gospel of XBO and how it's here to save us from the devil that is Sony and PS4. Go for it, chances are high it'll get locked rather quickly but regardless I implore you to do such at least it'd be absolutely on topic and no one would be able to take that away from you.

If you want to make a purchase justification thread (and completely miss the point of each subforum) go for it, feel free to make a thread with a character limit article explaining why you think the XBO deserves to beat PS4 in sales and graphics, feel free to link to MisterXmedia, feel free to show videos of PS4 "sucking" and other nonsense, again it'll prooobably be locked pretty quickly, but that's a freedom you have!

Even as a mod you s*** up plenty of forums here with the same crap, over and over and over again. Pot meet kettle. I shared my opinion on the topic at hand. Agree or disagree but as far as I know, I'm in the zone.

Irony. Anyways, I've said what I needed to say and as you said in the other thread. Words are hollow speak with action, I can accomendate that with some nifty mod tools.

Aside from the slide show provided by DF, Fifa 15 looks great on all platforms. Just wish people could get past the small crap and look at the bigger picture.

The entire purpose of DF discussion is to discuss issues big or small. It's a technical analysis, that IS the purpose of them. You're basically saying "I wish people would stop talking about the technical aspects and just focus on the fun"...in a thread about discussing the technical aspects of the bloody game!

Got the game this morning. It is fun so far. The defensive AI is still a bit of a problem but it isn't horrible.

Seems like a bug that needs to be patched. I'm sure the OP will be updated when it is to retract the boldness?
Let's hope so. Now with more and more games being nearly identical as the generation has gone on, it's nice to see things like this more frequent. But yes, fix dat bug.

The more I play the more issues I have with defending. The issues aren't as glaring as the demo, but you still get little help from your CPU teammates on D. If you use tactical defending, you risk getting dribbled around and beaten. If you don't, the CPU is too passive and lets the other team move the ball around too close to goal.

I'd bet it is more of a bug/oversight by EA. Supposedly Madden 15 had a few minor things it did better than the PS4 version. I don't think stuff like this has anything to do with the console performance (console warz lol). Seems like just stuff EA doesn't bother to test/fix.
