Football/Soccer Video Games Discussion

Bump this for help. How do I keep headers down? Seems to be the cheap easy goal and I get a lot of chances but mine always go over the net. I legitimately just tap b when I power it up but somehow still goes over every time

May just be me, but I have found that timing is very important with headers. I usually Jump a little earlier than I actually think I should. I also hold LT when when powering. No clue if it helps, but I find heading in the net fairly easy.

It's usually around July-August when they start talking about mode improvements isn't it? I'm hoping they finally fix/change the overall rating of 30+ year old players in career mode plummeting after a few months, it really ruined playing career mode for me.

I am not sure there is a specific time frame, but mode changes, additions, enhancements are often discussed after fundamental gameplay changes. I would think news on such things will not be too far off.

Welp, FIFA 14 was teh sex IMO so I'm in for this one

Fifa 14 (on any platform) is still plagued by all the same things that hinder enjoyment and fun as the several before it. Most notably the A.I. It did have some nice touches for all platforms though such as the body shielding and untethering skills from the modifier button. Added animations allowed fro greater variety and slightly more responsive players.

FIFA 15 really should be a whole new ball game. FIFA 14 was simply a last-gen game with a few additions. FIFA 15 really should be pushing everything to the next level. On paper it seems it is doing exactly that, but the proof will be in the gameplay.

It's not "was" for me, it still is. One of a very small select yearly release titles that has held my interest for an entire year (the nextgen reup didn't hurt the staying power ;) ).

Yes, it has it's faults as mentioned and my biggest issue is dealing with the AI. But hundreds and hundreds of games into it and even just last night I'm still seeing new highlight reel material goals and exciting outcomes. League play pro clubs with friends has been so much fun that I've barely gone through 2 SP career seasons nor even touched FUT.

I'm all for the changes they are bringing into FIFA15 as long as it doesn't ruin the formula that has made this my favorite sports, err video, game with friends. It isn't always what we would call football/soccer, but it is damn fun (and frustrating...a good thing IMHO to a degree).

Pro clubs is the hidden gem of Fifa, and it's sad how EA have neglected it has been for years now. They made the switch from using real players and real teams to created players in like Fifa 2010 or 2011, and since then the mode hasn't been improved except for implementing the seasons system which all their online modes in their sports games use now. Would it kill them for user created badges and kits, interesting traits so not every player plays the same, etc?

Ahh, well this is where we differ. 80% of my FIFA time is spent in Manger Career mode. The other 20% gets spread across across online head to head, Ultimate team, and a little of the online pro matches. Reason I play little online is because of online connection quality. There is so much lag in most matches that it totally ruins the fun for me.

That's a shame Menace, I rarely ever get any lag issues even at 5v5 proclub matches. It's a really great experience when you have guys you play with often and work together against other styles of humans playing 'proper' football compared to the AI.

Jason, I can see your angle and it might be good of them to offer both options of pro clubs with real teams or CAPs. I personally like the created players but the leveling up to unlock moves and other features is ridiculously slow. When 99% of pro club players will never have the opportunity to try a bicycle kick because it takes level80 or whatever to unlock, puhlease.

Yea man, I've been playing Fifa for a long time now and I've played from day 1 when they added that EA level feature and I'm only in the early 80's and I've played a crap ton of Fifa. There's still 30 levels of stuff to unlock and it'll probably be a few more Fifa's before I'm at that level.

I barely played those ones. I did play a little of them in FIFA 13 but not too many. The ones I did play were fine but they were low number players. I usually play the quick match variant where you play with all randoms. My god can that get messy. As for Head to head I am pretty sure they are player hosted and not server hosted. Not only that but I am sure EA has some sort of shared host thing going on. I have very good internet and yet the game seems to lag 80% of the time no matter who I play against.

Yeah the drop-ins can be a real mixed bag - idiots screwing up goalkeeper or often just people hogging the ball. But with a good club of guys actually creating chances and moving the ball around is so much fun. It's made me hate "player switching" FIFA games as opposed to playing a real position with 1 guy the duration of the match...to me that's like playing it for real minus the bumps and bruises.

Menace I'm sure you are aware that you can choose the regional server you are connected to as that can really help with lag and find more good matches.

Every year, they say the next one is a game changer. I believe it when I see it.

I spend way more time in the career mode, be a player or whatever it's called, than in any other mode. I'm trying to figure out how I can get my American player who is in MLS transferred over to premiere league. In my 2nd season with I think an 80 rating.

The World Cup mode was a nice little addition, I was not expecting that I figured for any kind of world cup fix they'd make us buy that standalone game they released. Although it is very dumbed down and you can't play a tournament, only friendlies or challenges :( Still, it's better than nothing and a nice little fan service.

If Madden 15 doesn't have moving nets on field goals, i'm hurting someone at EA. After seeing the Fifa 15 video, there's no reason why it shouldn't.

You can see the huge difference between Madden and Fifa. EA has no competition in American Football and it shows. I dread the day PES goes away. 2k stopped making hockey games and EA stopped doing anything to the game.

FIFA 15 WON'T INCLUDE DOMESTIC BRAZIL TEAMS

Changes to the way players are licensed in those leagues means the likes of Pato, Kaka and Ronaldinho may not make the cut, though players who are part of teams in other leagues and the Brazilian national team have apparently made the cut.

"Today, we want to inform you that due to some changes in the ways players are licensed in Brazil domestic leagues, we were unable to reach an agreement with the Brazilian rights holders for their inclusion in FIFA 15," EA said in a statement.

"While this is unfortunate news for many of our fans, we were able to retain the Brazil National Team in FIFA 15 as well as the Brazilian stars that play in other top leagues around the world. Thanks for your understanding as we continue to keep the lines of communication open with the Brazilian rights holders."

FIFA 14 included 19 Brazilian teams, including Palmeiras, Santos, São Paulo and Vasco da Gama. For now though, it looks like if your favourite is only available in the South American country's league you won't be able to play them come September unless they transfer beforehand.

Maybe the game-play have improve, but man, do the graphics looks last gen. The lighting are so flat.

Why can't they make it looks just a bit nicer, NBA2K14 looks so nice. I wasn't expecting to be blown away, & I know its the AI, simulation etc, but can it looks a little more like a next gen game.

It does look like a next-gen game compared to the last-gen efforts.

It depends on the camera view you play at. I play on broadcast view so I'm pretty far away from the players but I think it looks great in 1080p. I think Fifa is one of those games where it's the nuances that change year in year out and the difference is not always apparent from just playing a couple of games. It's the little things that make the difference and I think the last couple of years it almost looks like they're real players on the pitch. With the additions being added to Fifa 15, I think we're looking at the most complete sports game to date.

Possession tackles, finally :bang: that alone ( much like the ball shielding in FIFA 14) will drastically change the game. From a visual point, the grass getting tore up and nets reacting realistically, and goal posts actually shaking, cloths getting dirty, and water kickin up off the pitch will most certainly give a more atmospheric affect throughout a game.

Exactly, although over the years there's only been incremental changes, added altogether with the additions you just mentioned, I think we're getting close to what we could possibly expect from a football game. I've been playing Fifa from Fifa 95, always been a fifa man even when Pro evo was being touted as the best football game but over the last 3-4 years EA have definitely upped there game with Fifa.
