Duke Nukem forever. Landed into development hell. Games usually never recover from that.

Name yours?

It saddens me to say this. But Quantum Break.

I didn't finish the game. Not even close. But so many things about the game annoyed me to the point that I didn't want to play it anymore.

I remember when EGM talked up Eternal Champions something like a Street Fight killer for preview after preview. Oh was I disappointed and never looked at game mags the same. Sega CD Eternal Champions is shockingly alright though.

Looks at op... sees game not even out yet for the Sony console.

Mmmm
Stay on topic, mod, and don't play into ad hominem tactics.

You're supposed to be monitoring and preventing that, idiot, not personally being responsible for it.

So agree.

Man that takes me back. Great post. I still played the hell out of that game.

How about Killzone? I was pumped, but it didn't quite deliver. The original I mean.

Yeah, I'm totally with you on that (Killzone)... And of course, Haze... So rarely does it work to do the whole, "we need a new franchise to directly compete with <already-successful-franchise>"

With Forza, it worked though... Forza is well beyond GT at this point... But that's for another thread.

Gran Turismo 5 - Was a big disappointment and was not what one expects from a franchise known for quality.

Gears of War: Judgement - Being a huge Gears fan I was so hyped for this, but it fell well short. The single player was very good though.

Battlefield(Not Bad Company) - Pretty much everything since the transition to console.

To be honest I could probably write a list as long as something very long, but I will just state those three above.

Yea Killzone had a great atmosphere and style, the gameplay was close but off a little and after Halo it became difficult to play a PS2 FPS, it was just too big a difference in graphic fidelity.

Totally agree. I could barely play through the first couple of levels of Judgment, and I got it for free.

Don't agree.

While I do think Forza is the better game nowadays thanks to the amazing levels of polish and T10 prioritising gameplay over visuals, it isn't well beyond Gran Turismo at all.

Both franchises seems to have hit a baron spell of evolution and innovation.

Despite my disappointment in Gran Turismo:Sport's visuals and sound which don;t seem current-gen at all, I am excited about their new Competitive Racing direction. This is something I want for Froza.

The current League system and single player "story" of Forza is, well, s***. It needs a proper league system implemented where more time to play doesn't = winner. And the single player campaign would be far better if it utilised the car groups and had a proper race season set up. You could even have progressions from things like MX 5 Cup league to Touring Cars to GT racing to Le Mans, etc. But also keep it open so people can jump straight in to whatever from the start. Some rules and flags would be nice, and some goddamn penalities for track cutters and serial rammers is needed too.

Both franchises have issues and room for massive improvement.

Every Halo since the 2nd one.
Every Call of Duty since MW2
Killzone (all of them)
Gears of War (all of them)
Quantum Break
Infamous Second Son
TitanFall

You haven't actively played Forza titles if you believe that.

Forza has changed racing sims more than any other console game title in the last decade. It's been hugely innovative. The livery, drivatars, street arrows... It's been a game changer.

GT hasn't brought anything innovative for several iterations...

I actively play Forza all the time. Was actively playing Forza 6 last night.

Then what could Forza be doing more of to innovate? I mean, seriously?

I said they seem to have hit a barren spell. I never said they were never innovative. All your stuff is old hat anyway. Liveries 10 years a go. Drivetars is an evolution of the driveatars we got 8 year a go, etc.

They don't even need to innovate anyway. Everything I suggested in my post is more an evolution of the series and content.

You're back. The plot thickens.

ON TOPIC:

Pretty much every Assassins Creed game since the one with Ezio.

Also every Halo since 2.

EVERY DAMN COD game since MW2.

That about covers it for me.

Sunset Overdrive for me. What a stinking pile of s***e that was.

Watchdogs, the Order, Halo 4, Halo 5, Rage, Just Cause 3, All Killzones (except 2) Mass Effect 3, All Assassins Creeds (except 2 & Brotherhood)

I'll keep removing the last Guardian because it's clear trolling. Or I can just lock the topic?
You haven't played this still in development game so leave it.

Skyrim
GTA IV
Uncharted 3

Pains me to say it but, Halo 5. I'm playing through it again and the campaign is just a mess. As someone who has read all the novels it's just one big missed opportunity.

Did you try ass creed Syndicate? I loved it all, excluding a few missions. The ziplining really added to it.

And the first CoD I ever played was AW, so I just think of them as chick flick gaming. Pretty visuals with b grade acting, that try to make you feel "emotions." Still entertaining though!

For me.
Paraps the Rapper 2! And donkey Konga.

They could have been great!

Malice, the game that had No Doubt doing the voices/music (who the f*** would cast Gwen Stefani as leading vocals in an acting role? She makes Valley girls want to stab their ear drums)

Banjo Nuts and zbolts: I just... Can't

FFXV demo: I swear a jihad!

Actually, include FFXIII: Lightning returns. You can't do action game SE... You haven't improved the formula since 'The Bouncer'

Street Fighter V: I think it has a story mode now?

Conversly: On a happy note, one series I thought I would hate, but have a deep respect for, is The Wolf Among Us. And the majority of their ilk. I found myself thinking "s***! I want to rewind 5 seconds! So often! Choices felt weighty. And the QTE didn't make me want to get stabby, for a change.
