Aside from Lara herself, the character assets in God of War stomp the s*** out of Tom Raider. I'm not sure how they both can't be great looking. It doesn't matter which one someone prefers.

I'd actually say god of wars character models are step below uncharted 4, lost legacy and horizon zero dawn, the more recent call of dutys, Injustice 2 and the facial animation doesn't seem to have the polish of some early gen games. Maybe they will upgrade it before next month but I doubt it.

99% of his posts are drenched in console wars. We should all chip in and buy him a PS4 so he will stop embarrassing himself.
No one's models are better than Uncharted 4's (though Ryse and The Order come close). At least in cut-scenes. Game-play models are on par in Tomb Raider, IMO. I always thought RotTR was on par with Uncharted 4 in general, with each doing some things better than the other.
Horizon's models look wonky and a bit plastic to me. They have some nice textures up close.
COD's cutscenes are mostly pre-rendered (Same with Battlefield). Injustice 2 has fantastic facial animations.
I will agree that it doesn't look generally better than other top tier games, but who cares? It still looks fantastic, and I have no doubt there will some amazing water-cooler moments in GoW.

And in saying that, I still feel that Ass Creed has the market on fabric shaders.
Still haven't played GoW 3 yet.. maybe sometime this year. Either way going to be a bit before I play this which is fine. Haven't really been following it or watching any videos so no hype to worry about.
GOW3 was the first and only GOW I have ever played. I finished the game, so that means I liked it!
You aren't missing much, the story wasn't told very well in that game. It had some nice set pieces and gore but as an overall experience it lacked a lot.

That's fine, I was super hyped for it and even bought the collectors edition but after playing it I couldn't help but feel the story was chopped up, the writing and acting were awful and graphically it looked awesome except for a few character models but that just wasn't enough for me. It was that directors first time leading a project and I thought it was obvious. I thought GOW2 was awesome, easily the best in the series IMO, that's why I was really happy when Barlog came back to take this game on.
I know i'm no advocate for talking sense when it comes to console wars but Sasquatch strikes me as the kid who's parents won't buy him both consoles so might as well try and trash the one you don't have. Get a lemonade stand or a paper route kid, holy s***.
I mean really, trying to downplay anything to do with God of War tech wise when Microsoft is releasing games like Super Lucky's Tale and Sea of Thieves comes off as rather ridiculous and grasping for straws. Not the time or place when Xbox is getting demolished in visuals by a weaker console.
Now when Halo 6 comes out and offers something other than G.I. Joe action figures and nerf gun looking weapons we can have a debate but until then keep the nonsense on the Xbox side of the forums please.
Speaking of Halo I just played Halo 5's MP the other day for the first time, I couldn't believe how flat everything looked. I know they are going for 60fps so visual sacrifices need to be made but even on the One X it was really unimpressive compared to games like battlefield and COD. They may be pushing other tech that looks impressive on a checklist but it didn't translate to what I saw on screen, at least not on the map I played. Of course it's designed mostly around a 1.31TF console and prettied up from there for the One X but it just doesn't look like a hardware manufacturers top franchise to me.
I don't want to derail the thread so that'll be my only comment on the game but I wouldn't bet on 343i doing anything amazing for Halo 6 based on what they've done so far.
