Marvel is bringing the new (old?) team, Guardians of the Galaxy, to the big screen in 2014 (August 1st). As of the latest news, it has been confirmed that Vin Diesel is indeed Groot!

Guardians director James Gunn said on his Facebook page, "Vin Diesel is a super awesome dude. I can't tell you how much I like this guy." He added in a separate post, "Yep it is completely official. AND he's amazing. I never knew someone could say I AM GROOT so many different ways and with such feeling (and that sounds like I'm kidding but I'm not!)"

I'm very curious about this new movie and wonder if it will, somehow, link to the Avengers (story-wise). It has been said quite a few times that Thanos is supposedly to make an appearance in it as well. Very interesting.

Thoughts?

Not sure about Diesel as Groot but whatever. This is my most anticipated of the Marvel movies. Also curious to see what they do with Nova Corps and if we'll ever get a solo Nova movie.

That said I'm so far behind on both Guardians and Nova as far as comics. I have 5 days off coming up so I'm hoping to catch up on some stuff.

I've never even heard of this. I'm all for super hero movies though.

I'm still waiting for the trailer. They should have it ready by now. Or maybe they're saving it for early 2014.

I'm not familiar with GotG, but I would like to see this do well. I think it has potential. Almost a mix of The Avengers with Men In Black or even Hellboy.

I'm looking forward to this. Love that Marvel is still going to take risks with unknown comic book/superhero characters and not just sticking with the successful current ones. Teaser looks pretty good too....well, till those last 5-8 seconds.

The Alberta Film Ratings Board has just classified the first trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy. The trailer has been classified with a PG rating and a two minute and twenty-three second running time. The PG rating is for the trailer only, and may or may not be the rating of the movie. It’s probably likely that the actual Guardians of the Galaxy movie will be rated PG-13, which is the rating that tends to get bestowed upon most intense action movies.

Usually, when a trailer gets classified, it winds up getting released in theaters in a week or two. It’s unknown at this point exactly when and where Marvel Studios will release the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer. When Disney skipped promoting the movie during the Super Bowl, many assumed they might be waiting for the Captain America: The Winter Soldier release on April 4, 2014. However, with the trailer now classified, it’s likely fans will see it much earlier than that.

News

It is possible that we might get to see the trailer within a week or two! Keep an eye on that, guys!

Wow, exciting news.

Really looking forward to this, especially after having just caught up with the current Marvel NOW run of GotG comics. Should be awesome.

I'm looking forward to a film in the Marvel Universe that I know so little about. It'll be fresher.

USA Today is reporting that the first trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy will premiere on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Tuesday night – with an introduction by star Chris Pratt – before being released in theaters on Friday.

The film’s plot will involve the Guardians meeting each other in a space prison and breaking out together. They then visit Knowhere and the Collector, and are chased by Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace) and Nebula (Karen Gillan) who are after an orb in Star-Lord’s possession.

News.

Imagine this: The Avengers + Guardians of The Galaxy fightin' against Thanos = OMG!

If Marvel is planning to do this in The Avengers 3, then it'll going to blow our mind off.

This film is either going to be amazing or horrific. Eitherway, I'm hyped. I really hope it does well too, so it encourages Marvel to keep going with these riskier films.

It'll be interesting to see if they do explain what Knowhere is, if they do it will kinda open up the whole cosmic gods route. It's just a shame Galactus can't be used.

Because of FF2? The hell with that movie anyway. I heard Fantastic Four might even be rebooted like The Hulk.

Mhmm. Maybe they can get around it like they're doing with Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, but as I understand the right films to Galactus was thrown in with the Fantastic Four rights when Marvel sold them years ago.

The CGI and sets look amazing from that trailer, but no Rocket or Groot voice and no signs of Thanos just yet. Still... Hype.
