Guardians of the Galaxy!

Went and watched this last night. Not all that good IMO. One of the weaker marvel movies. Writing was meh, characters were Shallow. story is hugely predictable. The humour was not to my tastes. Action scenes were ok. Effects were good.

This is not even close to being in DOFP's realm of quality.
Movie was a joke. F*ck the Guardians.

Saw the movie again today, this time with my girlfriend. It's probably my favorite superhero movie since The Dark Knight. I am a big comic book guy, too, just so it's out there.

Never takes itself too seriously, even when it should.
The dialogue was so great, too. There were deliberately funny things, but a lot of the subtle stuff was hilarious.
The action was a little toned down compared to The Avengers, but the characters were way better, in my opinion.

So happy for the cast. They seemed so humbled and modest towards the positive reception of the film. Just watch an interview with Bautista, the guy is almost speechless. He seems so sincerely grateful.

I think it's safe to say James Gunn is the man. Guardians of the Galaxy was awesome. That's all i got.

A lot of people I know love Paranormal Activity. That does not make it a good movie, but yeah, different strokes. It is not like we do not have enough Comic-book movies to satisfy most:)
In fairness to GotG, it's not a typical crime fighter in spandex fighting a one man war on urban criminals type of comic though, is it?
I haven't seen it, or read the modern GotG comics, but from my understanding, it's not exactly a "superhero" book.
I just mean being based on a comic shouldn't be a reason to disregard films anymore than we should disregard films based on books because Jack Reacher and Tom Clancy films often suck. The Walking Dead is based on a comic. Road to Perdition and Ghost World were both comic movies too, but you wouldn't guess it if you didn't know it previously.

I am not disregarding it because it is a comic-book movie. I simply felt it was not a very good movie. I judge all movies the same, and the main criteria for that judgement is entertainment, and this one just did not entertain me enough.

As for the movie, no, it is not your typical spandex one man army superhero movie. In fact, I would say the movie is more star wars esque than typical superhero. With the main protagonist being akin to Han Solo. Perhaps unsurprisingly I am not a Star Wars fan either.

Fair enough, I don't like Star Wars and I didn't enjoy Serenity, which people were raving about, too. I never got the love for Star Trek: The Next Generation or the old Shatner/Nimoy movies either. Far-flung space sci-fi doesn't usually do much for me.

Strangely, I do like the old school Star Trek TV episodes and the modern Star Trek films.

I think people tend to overrate Star Wars and Firefly myself as well. I do enjoy Star Trek though.

Just got out of watching this at the imax. I really enjoyed it. It's a good popcorn flick with some very funny moments. That dance off move was classic.

Nice try, but PA averaged 64 over at IMDB.....while GotG is averaging 8.7. I think it's safe to say that GotG at this point is generally accepted as being a really good movie.

I think you missed the point.

Holy s*** 8.7/10 on IMDB! thought it was gonna be cheesy but definitely gonna watch this on Tuesday.

Chris Pratt is an A-lister now because of this movie. Wow.

Watched Guardians Sun. with my son and a couple friends. Awesome movie, great action interspersed with some great comedic moments and a awesome soundtrack. Definitely not the typical "superhero" movie, however, it still has no trouble fitting into the "Disney" Marvel movie universe. I don't think the movie would have worked if they had gone the action first with a more serious tone approach.

Finally released last weekend here, & went to watch. Really enjoying it. Action & comedy. Laughing all the way.
