The final battle against the Brute Chieftan was fun, took me a bunch of tried to beat it. Story wise though, it really kind of sucked...also, at the end of Halo 2 he arrives on the Arc ship and then at the beginning of Halo 3 he fall to earth from a comet...didn't really make sense to me.

Wouldn't anything falling from space that size look like a comet/meteor? Maybe he was ejected from the wreckage

Okay after playing though HALO 4 this weekend it is my favorite of the Halo campaigns. I had so much fun and the variety of levels are great. Not to mention how dang good it looks!

I see this opinion a lot.

EDIT: Found this
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halo:_Uprising
Uprising 's story begins after the events of Halo 2, in which the alien collective known as the Covenant discovers the location of Earth and begins a full-scale invasion of their enemy's homeworld. The supersoldier Master Chief is stowed away aboard an ancient Forerunner ship. On a course set for Earth, he is overwhelmed by a Covenant strike force and rendered unconscious. In the next scene, Colonel James Ackerson is being tortured by Covenant forces on Mars, to whom he betrays the existence of something called "The Key of Osanalan." Ackerson admits the Key is located in Cleveland, Ohio. In Cleveland, the narrative follows the point of view of a hotel concierge named Ruwan as the city falls under attack by Covenant forces. In the mayhem he meets a woman named Myras Tyla. Tyla remains calm even as Ruwan edges towards all-out panic. The pair are captured and with other residents herded into a sports stadium. The Covenant declare that the humans must give up the location of the Key to save their lives; Tyla is confused, but Ruwan states he knows exactly what it is.
Onboard the Forerunner ship, the Master Chief is captured and interrogated by Covenant forces, but manages to escape using a concealed weapon. On Earth, Ruwan and Tyla escape detection by the Covenant and appropriate a vehicle in an effort to escape. Ruwan reveals that the Key is in fact a fictional object that he and his brother James Ackerson made up as children; James told the Covenant about the Key in order to prevent the outright destruction of Cleveland. After fighting Covenant forces, Ruwan and Tyla are rescued by marines and leave the city. The Master Chief attempts to kill the Covenant's leader, Prophet of Truth, but is discovered as he takes aim; Truth escapes as the Chief is left to kill the Prophet's guards and find a way off the ship. Learning that there is no way to change the Forerunner ship's destination, the Chief jumps to Earth using a piece of the vessel as a heat shield.
After informing the UNSC about the true nature of the Key, Ruwan volunteers to "give" the Key to the Covenant. He is captured and brought aboard a Covenant ship. While the Covenant believe he is to be rescued due to a tracker embedded in him, Ruwan reveals he is actually a target. A coilgun takes aim at his position and destroys the ship. Upon learning that the Key is a fake, the Brutes on Mars behead Ackerson. In a relief camp, Tyla writes a song about Ruwan.

IF I had to rate the 4 MCC games purely on Campaign mode. 4>2>1>3

Not that any of them are bad games. 4 and 2 are my favorites though. 3 is very uneven and CE(1) is awesome but the sneaky repetitive levels have worn their welcome on me over the many years of playing it.

ODST would actually be my favorite besides 4. That game was awesome. Reach I would put between 1-2 for me.

Just started Halo 4 campaign last night after finishing Halo 3 on Sunday. Jesus, the difference in graphics is pretty astonishing.

After playing all 4 again(well almost done with 3 I saved it for last..) I rate em.

4 > 2A > 3/CE Tie.

I found the focused narrative and firefights more interesting in 4. Halo 2 was the template that set the standard and I feel holds up better than CE (repetitive though classic) and 3 (although good it has levels that plain suck and levels of greatness but its a mess overall)

I think Halo CE's campaign always stuck out to me because I just didn't know what to expect. I remember the first time the flood showed up as an oh s*** moment in my gaming history. After that they were still good and expanded on a universe I loved. Honestly though, I barely remember the story behind 4. When I started it up last night and they were interviewing the Dr. who created the Spartans I didn't have any recollection of that whatsoever.

I never read any of the books outside the series so for me what I got from the games was all I know about the Halo universe. I remember the story from 4 being confusing. I didn't get the whole Didact/Forerunner war until recently when I read a little into the mythos on the Halo wiki page.

I am reading some more of the wiki page. If I got this right....

So it all started with Precursors who were near immortal beings with great intelligence. The fostered and advanced various life forms through out the universe.

Their next creation was the Forerunners who thought they were going to inherit the mantle of protectors. They were very advanced and decided to take the mantle from the Precursors rather than wait for it to be passed to them. They because pissed at the Precursors for deciding the mantle should be passed to Humans instead of the Forerunners. Promethians are the strongest warriors the Forerunners have. They survived the firing of the Halo Ring by being turned into digital beings. What I found to be really cool is that the Prometheans' arsenal of weapons was specifically tailored to disintegrate targets to prevent the Flood from repurposing any available biomass. Never really understood why every enemy in Halo 4 disintegrated until now.

Shadow-of-Sundered-Star,[3] more commonly known as the Ur-Didact (Ur- meaning original), was a Forerunner Promethean who held an extremely high status in the Forerunner society as supreme commander of the entire Forerunner military.[4] He wholeheartedly believed in the Mantle of Responsibility the Forerunners held to protect life, and initially opposed the Halo Array as a sin beyond measure. He was also the lover and husband of The Librarian. He serves as the primary antagonist in Halo 4.

Bornstellar Makes Eternal Lasting (commonly known as "Bornstellar") was an untried Forerunner Manipular whose family and ancestors came from a long line of Builders, the highest and most powerful rate in Forerunner society.[1] He effectively became another incarnation of the Promethean known as the Ur-Didact after being imprinted with the latter's consciousness and memories; this incarnation was known as the IsoDidact.[2]

Its no wonder I didn't get it, very confusing.

Yeah, it's a lot to take in. You should read the Forerunner Saga (by Greg Bear), it basically chronicles Bornstellar's transformation into the Iso-Didact, as well as right up to the firing of the Halo Rings. They can be pretty slow moving though, but are pretty well written and involve a lot of the Forerunner social structure as well as showing us where Guilty Spark came from.

The Doctor at the beginning of Halo 4 is Dr Halsey. You should also watch the Spartan Ops episode story videos if you haven't already. They are good fun. That seems to be a good set up for what's coming in Halo 5.

I did not find it too confusing. The level with the librarian she explains all of that. I knew who Hasley was from Halo 1-3 via the dialogue with Cortana and Halo Reach. The books enhance that but they are not "needed" to enjoy the games.

There is certainly a lot more "mystery" if you don't read them, I imagine.

After replaying the 4 its going ODST>3>CE>2>Reach>4 for me

Too many corridors levels, Pressing X objectives, and Prometheans for me. Worst gameplay climax of the series too.

Seems like people are clamoring for the white. Have to say, I think I prefer the white one as well.
I'll keep mine big an black, thank you....

We're almost at the end of May. Where is Halo 3: ODST remastered as promised?
