Infamous: Second Son Discussion

I'm actually pretty calm, and you'd be surprised how far off you are with your assumption I think. What happened to the old friendly and understanding blue that was at txb, what did Neogaf do to you :( There is a reason hive mind comes around a bit, there is more truth than not to that. Even though I do hate that actual phrase.

I've always felt that way. I know your posting style. I just get a kick out of thinking playing games is painful to you.

But it isn't painful, but my stomach does hurt often. Unrelated though, if that helps atleast. Even though I did make the game a lot harder for my self than I realized. I played most of it on expert apparently without realizing it, honestly thought it was on normal the entire time. I was a little upest about having to replay the game, but not really too angry and mabye that is where your getting that idea. But, if you remember my posts well, I hardly ever replay a game at all. I just sometimes like the progression and to see what happens so it would only make sense I didn't want to replay what I just played so early. I only replay games like Halo cause of the driving, Ai etc or a 2d game, contra whatever. I have never actually replayed OOT all the way through despite finding it one of the best games I ever played at the time just for a reference.

I actually did find a lot more things I liked in Infamous though, so would people take that positive as a negative just because it goes against the new Infamous? is that even fair logically at all?

As far as the old infamous is concerned the music was good (not that it is bad in ISS) but it was really great, and the style of game had not really been done in a open world before. So, a lot of things could have been forgiven that can't be now. I also liked that you had to climb around and the game was sort of built around that mechanic. Now, climbing is sort of an after thought , and that is fine I guess but the powers didn't get it right to go along with taking away from the original style I guess. I still think KZ is a horrible horrible mess, but Bioshock Infinite's second half really surprised me and I think it was a lot better than BS1 actually.

seemed like constructive criticism. i dont get you people, when i say i didnt enjoy a game you cry about it asking for reasons and essays.. when someone does that you bash him too for talking too much about it LOL

most of the things he wrote were on things they could improve. if you cant post things like that then why have a discussion thread, just make it a 'Infamous: Second Son Only Positives Thread'

this seems to be a trend on the Xbox section, you cant say anything remotely negative. too sensitive
Fixed

well i dont remember getting so many defensive replies when i posted about Ryse being average (i liked it but mention the problems), or any other 3rd party game tbh

but any exclusive PS game thread is filled by defensive replies. dont wanna start something though so i wont go into it more
At least in the PS section, as I don't spend much time in the Xbox area, this is how I see it: There is usually a certain group of people in the PS area that post here often and contribute. I'm more willing to listen to that group than say Intelli (very generic example) that comes in here once a month just to post "holy sht this game sucks balls!" Actually now that I think of it I should use Flynn since he claims to have had a PS4 for what, 2 days, and then couldn't even sell it? Right. I really don't care what his opinion would be on any games on the PS4 that he claims to have played.

Not saying this is you (if I remember right you played on your brother's PS4?) but at least in general it's how I feel about comments about a game. I'm more willing to listen to other people that are at least interested in the console and games.

lol. I will agree melee in the game was a little let down. I don't remember the first two so I can't compare, but it seemed like it was so slow. There were times I'd hit the button only to be countered quicker and get knocked back. Just felt really slow.

The problem with melee for me was the camera. With no lock on, you can find yourself swinging wildly sometimes.

I do like the way guys fly backwards and disintegrate.

I don't know, I'd just rather people talk to me without feeling angry, I'm very easy to talk to if you just talk without some kind of degrading or insulting comment. I't fine to disagree, but I obviously like games, even if some of you try to make a joke that I don't or whatever.

Not sure when I'll finish up the collectibles. Took a break yesterday with a movie, and I will get back to it, just doesn't feel as fun as Sly for finding things though

I'm done with my heroic play-thru and it was a lot of fun. I think the good side powers were more fun than the evil side. The ability to slow time and snipe enemies with lasers was a lot of fun. Sadly, there isn't much left for me to do with the game and so starts the wait for DLC.

Finished my second playthrough. After getting both endings, I really wish the Evil one could be canon.

I did see a lot of people on gaf have the same basic ideas as me and a lot of them prefer Infamous 1 as well, so I'm not alone! ah, oh well.

I'm at 93% for SS, going to look around for infamous 2 to buy though.

I had really wished Cole was in this game as a bad guy and a boss, was disappointed.

What exactly was the cole missions from the pre order, and what exactly are the paper trail missions that apparently add hours upon hours of play? I haven't did any of that stuff yet.

Cole's legacy is about an hours long gameplay talking about the history and there are some interactions with characters from past games.

The paper trail DLC adds about 5 hrs long gameplay once everything comes out. It centers around a mysterious conduit with paper like powers. They are releasing it part by part on a weekly basis right now. I finished part 1 and am waiting for all the parts to come out before finishing it.

Patch out tomorrow, looks like there are some nice surprises.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/04/16/infamous-second-son-patch-out-tomorrow/#sf2609005

I have some good news for you. We’ve made great progress on the inFAMOUS Second Son patch on PS4 I promised you a couple weeks back. In fact, we expect to publish it on PSN tomorrow, April 17th.
Now first, let me update you on the specifics I promised, and then toss in a few extra goodies that we managed to squeeze in when nobody was looking. First — addressing one of the top two requests we’ve gotten — you’ll be able to disable the HUD, and once you’ve finished the game you’ll be able to adjust the time of day as you like.
We also promised, and have included, an option to cap the game frame rate at 30 FPS if you prefer playing this way. To set expectations for you all: this is a frame rate cap — not a lock. It won’t eliminate the rare instance of a dropped frame during gameplay.

But that’s all stuff you expected. Let’s talk about a few surprises, saving the best for last:
A handful of localization text changes, and a couple of fixes for rare crashes in the game (Thanks to all of you who uploaded reports on those, they were extremely helpful!).
If your controller runs out of batteries in the middle of gameplay, your game will pause. Our art director pulled a hamstring scrambling to get his second controller mid-boss-battle, so we needed to fix this.
If you’re choosing expert difficulty, we let you know within the options dialog if you’re qualified for the “Unstoppable” trophy the moment you opt in.

Photo Mode.
Wait, what’s that last one? We were totally amazed at the quality of the screenshots you all shared. Amazed. So we thought we’d try to help you all out. With this patch, you can enable photo mode within the options. Once you do that, clicking L3 will pause the game, and allow you to use a suite of our internal tools (like setting depth of field) to take even more amazing shots.
To hold you over until the patch goes live tomorrow, check out the brief video tutorial above showing how the Photo Mode works!
Final full disclosures and fine print: these options and settings, including frame rate, will reset to defaults each time you restart the game. We chose to not disturb our game save file format with this patch in order get these features to you as quickly as we could. Additionally, Photo Mode will only work in situations where the camera is freely movable by players. In scripted sequences/cutscenes you can still take screenshots of course, just not with the Photo Mode tools.
We hope you enjoy the new tools and the Photo Mode, and we can’t wait to see what you come up with! Enjoy, and talk again soon

Nice. My evil run is on hold indefinitely as I am currently playing DW FFXIV, but perhaps I'll fire this up to give the new options a whirl.

How is the update? How is the new photo mode etc? Also, I want to try the new 30fps mode out, Every time a game is unlocked and if you move the camera around slowly the background always stutters, I know the 30fps patch helped KZ in this regard A LOT.

Did you know that you can make it rain whenever you want at ANY time of day?

You can activate the rain effect regardless of the time and weather setting by exploiting what seems to be a very easily accessible glitch.
Run all the way back to the bridge where you came from at the beginning of the game (there are ways to actually cross it again, but you don’t need to for this). Once you reach the place showcased in the screenshots below, just jump in the water between the broken extremities of the bridge. Anywhere beyond the black concrete spike in the pictures is fine.

Then press the touch pad to get your feet back on dry land, and it’ll be raining, no matter what time of day you have activated, giving you quite a few more weather combinations for your photo mode adventures.

Not to be the Debbie Downer of the thread, but I'm finding myself not really getting into this game like I couldn't get into the first two games. I probably should have figured that would be the case.

The game is absolutely beautiful. But feels like a chore to play so far. Clear this zone. Clear that zone. Etc.. But I am way early in the game. So hopefully more interesting encounters pop up.

Also the game feels cheap. Snipers just have a constant bead on you. I'm assuming I should take them out first.

My main issues are gameplay related. Running around on roof tops and doing aerial moves is fun. But the shooting is not. And neither is the melee combat.

Like I said I'm way early in the game. Hopefully some of the powers will change my mind about the game. It's just at this point, the desire to push on just isn't there.

Yea I'm pretty bored with this game now, seems like it's on repeat. Just got the 3rd power.. But have no interest to play anymore. Can't wait for watchdogs to come out, something with more depth to it.

I actually don't like the visuals or the citys that much. It seems to flat and a bit lifeless imo, I preferred the other game's overall design and look a lot more.

The gameplay really needs less powers, more enemy types, more bosses, and just more areas imo.

This screen is amazing, really looks like a movie is going to come out about Infamous.

Nice screenshot. Though you'd think the guy behind it would spell Heroes correctly after that amount of work.

I just scaled the space needle, looked great while doing it, felt a sense of vertigo towards the top. Overall though I'm not sure I will be able to finish this game, just no desire to even do anything.

Digestive enzymes, probiotics, and a ginger/peppermint combo. You're welcome.

I loved SS, but this is not doing anything for me. Looks to be just more of the same, was hoping for something a bit more diverse.

Well finally beat it that's the last of the games backlog not that bad. I also got the 100 percent that took some time lol.
