Eh I think the only part of me that makes me a good contender is that I'm not biased towards a console.
But I've never been a mod of anything, so I have no idea how to strike a good balance of being to hard on posters or being to easy. Etc.

It would be nice if we can have a mod that can look at a discussion objectively decide if someone was trolling or making a factual statement even though it would upset some posters. I've being staying away from the Xbox forum because it seems that a few get upset over the slightest negative comment made bout the XB1 and then complain to a mod.
the way I see it, PV will pick whom he believes is best for the role. I don't see campaigning, or chest pounding as mattering in his decision making process.

I think the only reason xbox is my preference is because I really only play call of duty and they get all the DLC first.
If anything I like my PC da most.

I now know how people felt when I posted that I was promoting someone to MOD at PSU. We'd have our back room discussions, pros/cons of all the potential candidates, then sometimes I would be weeks to make a decision.
To us, it didn't matter, we were staff LOL However, now I can see that the suspense probably killed them.
Each time I was promoted at PSU, I wasn't even aware I was up for it. I just would sign in and my name would be a different color.
I can guard either....Time permitting of course...Most of the time I'm ducking in OTL anyways...And being a Nintendo fanboy, I can be fair and square on both Xbox or PlayStation....
There really isn't a pro-PS4 or a non-Xbox orientation among the mods. I think that's a misperception. Most of the mods are actually absent or inactive, and the one or two active mods are pretty balanced. I was the only one who leaned PS4 in his moderation; I tried to be balanced, but I also wanted to protect the PS4 forum, because of the site's predominance of Xbox owners/fans. With me gone, there is no reason to think moderators are weighted against the Xbox. I'd say it's the opposite, in fact, since PV does the majority of the moderating now, and he's pro-Xbox.
I don't think appointing mods who are weighted toward one side or the other is a good idea. I think it is better to pick mods who are balanced and active in their moderation (in other words, will moderate for the whole forum, not one side, and who will be present/active on a daily basis).

agreed Andy... I nominated and activated most of my staff on PSU based on their merits, not based on console preference. We were a PS site after all, so there were tons of PS fans to pick from, but if we put only those folks in the power seats, you can see what happens there now that has been done. All non PS discussion is trolled to death, discouraged, etc...
On a site like this, the mods SHOULD have the mentality that the site comes before console preference. Moderate evenly, fairly. Not stay in PS threads because that is there preference.
I play on Xbox One, PS3, Wii, Mac, Nintendo handhelds, Android and Apple. I don't give a damn who sells more, or who has 5% more pixels. All of that matters f*** all, if the site isn't around to prosper.
When I was PSU staff, I devoted at minimum 24 hours a week in my spare time, and some weeks even more, ensuring the site was fair and level. I expect I would do that same thing here, maybe even more since i enjoy this site more than my last ever was.

I agree with all of this. And I think there are people here who can definitely put aside console preference and moderate fairly. There are also plenty of people here who can't do that. I want whoever is moderating me to not be the ones starting flamebait posts.
A side note: Every DF console vs console post does not have to be posted on this site. Yet it's seemingly what keeps the multiplat section alive at times.

yeah I know but sometimes one person will try to stop, and another keeps stirring the pot. I won't mention names but I have 2 members in particular who I have in mind. I don't ignore anyone becouse they might have some usefull info eventually. So I just deal with it.
I think DF analysis keeps the forums alive because a lot of posters will participate, just need to keep on topic and we're good.
Most of the longest threads in the forums have been DF or DF related, I'd gander.
I agree and add the fact that some are multi-platform like myself and wanna weigh the pros and cons before purchasing.
