Mario Kart 8 megathread of reviews, WW sales, and videos!

No surprise the reviews are good. Very bold to say it's worth buying a Wii U for, though.

Sounds great. I watched the Gamespot review earlier. He commented on how it emphasizes skill in a way that previous versions didn't.

My son is a huge fan of Mario games. Might pick this up whenever I get Wii U.

Reads the scores and starts salivating:
My go-kart is ready!

I hear a lot of people praising the details on all the objects, even the stitches in the para sails of the Karts. Quite a few wondering how in heavens such "archaic" hardware is doing that, forgetting that even though the GPU might be a bit slower, it still is a newer GPU supporting newer techniques than PS3/360 :). Plus Nintendo showing that brains over brawn always is a good thing. I really can't wait to see that baby in action, UnionVGF CUP!?

The game looks awesome, the Kart series has always been one of my favorite Nintendo franchises. Good to see its reviewing so well, the Wii U needs more games like this.

Lag free multiplayer. :bang:

If enough on here buy it and we get some good multiplayer games/tournaments going across the board I'm going to go out and buy the Wii U for sure.

I bought it at my store today and there are two negatives so far:

- I do not like the sense of speed, or should i say....lack of. Maybe it's me but the Sonic racer had a better sense of speed. Even at 150cc i am like...jesus man, can't this go a bit faster?

- I have not seen all the tracks yet...not by a long shot, but the ones i saw while racing against friends online are simply way too short.

I do not agree with Eurogamer though. Yes there is aliasing but it really is not all that bad. Overall this is a great looking game. Love the vibrant colours, some very cool effects going on on some surfaces in some tracks and it just looks damn good really. Some stupid things though, typical Ninty things:

When i was in a room my friend created...we cannot change character and/or customize our kart. We then have to wait for the host to quit the room or you leave it. Why the hell can we not just do that IN the room?

Mario Kart 8 has been released by now in most territories, now before we start competing with each other, maybe some of us would like to post some videos of himself or herself playing. One should be able to share videos from Mario kart 8 with your friends on line :).

I downloaded my free game from registering this game. Pikmin yeah. I wish Super Luigi Wii U would have been an option. Oh well.

Club. Nintendo website was a pain in the ass to navigate to process my order. Broken links, site maintenance and just general weird crap I had to endure to get my free game. First world problems.

Yeah, Club Nintendo is a pain in the ass. I keep getting the same errors as Dno. First I was getting site maintenance, then invalid birthday. I finally got registered but now it's hung up on logging in. I'm stuck between Wind Waker and Pikmin 3. I loved Wind Waker and would love to revisit, but I hear good things about Pikmin 3.

Keep trying. Nintendo is just making us work a bit for our free game. :D

Wind Waker looks beautiful on Wii U man. That would be a hard choice.

Yeah I tried to register MK8, put my code in and kept getting errors. Hope my code works when I try again or I'll be kinda pissed.

My girlfriend went into GameStop to by a Disney Infinity character and came out saying she came very close to buying Mario Kart 8. I looked at her demanded to know why she didn't buy it. She asked if I wanted to go in halfsies and I said TRUCK YEAH!! So here we are.

The free game offer sold me on buying a Wii U. Bought the New Mario/Luigi Deluxe Bundle and Mario Kart. Haven't had a Nintendo system since the GameCube and I really felt like some Mario/Zelda action was missing in my life. Been Xbox only since like 2005. Picked up a great value for $360 with the system, gamepad, New Mario/Luigi, Kart + the free game which will be Wind Waker HD. So pumped, it arrives on Tuesday.

I absolutely love Mario Kart 8, the only 2 gripes I have is:

-No battle arenas for Battle mode. lolwut?
-No voice chat online during the race, only in the lobby. lolwut?

Stopped and picked up the bundle on the way home from work. Awwwwww yeeeeeeeeeah

But but but... It's the same old game! (Says the person that has never played it or any other recent Mario Kart before).

It's a great game and the graphical jump is simply amazing. Game looks just as good as some games on PS4 and Xbox One. Let's see how long this lasts; Wii U needs all the help that it can get.
