No kidding, that's prolly a little over a third of all Wii owners having bought the game. I can't think of any game that hasn't been a pack in that's had that attach rate.
Looks like MK8 is almost at the same attach rate too...albeit w/a far smaller install base. Anyhow game looks awesome.

Anyhow, I hope it will sell a lot more! The game is fantastic, it's been ages since I've had that much fun online. Just pick up the controller pick a match and go! So that it beats a million straight out of the gate is not a surprise.

I bought the bundle just to play this and it was worth every cent. Game is fantastic.
Not worth a Wii U on its own for me but damn its looks great and I'm loving the Luigi gifs that are popping up.
If Nintendo removed the tablet and knocked £100 off I would probably grab one.

Yeah the Luigi gifs are classic. That MK8 bundle they had a bit back was a pretty killer deal.

. Come time you will learn to love your little plastic wonderbox and give it a hug twice a day and a cuddle before bedtime . Don't forget to read it a story . It particularly likes "The little Engine that could" .Really that controller is half the fun for me, so easy to work with to just quick start a game, to just play while someone else is using the main screen. Nintendo land and Wonderful 101 really showed the game principles as well. Why do people have so much problems with it? It's like Kinect all over again, but with less people moaning about it.
I guess people like babies because they are annoying to lose to. Troll factor I suppose. People want to be arseholes online, and this is about as much "arseholery" as Nintendo would allow
. Plus with Amiibo coming you might actually get what you like .

Nintendo reportedly announced sales milestone to shareholders
While the full transcript of the meeting has yet to be published by Nintendo, a tweet from a shareholder in attendance reported that the company's general hardware manager Genyo Takeda stated that Mario Kart 8 had sold two million copies worldwide since its release in late May.
Takeda went on to say that Wii U hardware sales had also increased as a result, though according to reports he did not provide any figures.
In March 2014, Nintendo reported it had sold 6.17 million Wii U units to date. Though it has yet to reveal updated figures in the wake of Mario Kart 8 sales, this suggests a remarkable attach rate for the game with just under one in three Wii U owners buying it.

It's a fun game and will definitely be popular amongst the younger gaming crowd while still appealing to people of all ages.
Hasn't Mario Kart proven to be Nintendo's biggest franchise (sales wise) over the past ten years? If so, two million doesn't sound that good.
Well, it's pretty good, considering there are only 6 million Wii U sales, so 1 in 3 owning a game is as good as it will get, I think. Plus 8 did have the best opening weekend for any Mario Kart in the series so that's a good sign too. In addition to that, the game came out days after Watch Dogs, which is available for like every platform, so I think 2 million is pretty encouraging.
In all reality though it could sell 6 million copies, though, if it doesn't move any systems it's not really helping the cause. Nintendo needs MK8 to be a system seller as much or more than just "another hit"
