Mario Kart 8 megathread of reviews, WW sales, and videos!

I think Nintendo has said that the increase in console sales has been rather significant.
 
After watching a few different Let's Plays with Mario Kart 8 and the great buzz Nintendo got from E3, I finally bit the bullet and picked up the Wii-U bundle today. A year ago I would have bet the house that I'd NEVER buy one.

Depends a bit if he has humour or not. I suspect he has, otherwise he will be in for a hard time playing Mario kart, those shells get on your nerves if you don't learn to laugh about them ;).
 
Had my first WTF moment in an online race today. I was running in 2nd in a 10 player race with the finish line in sight when all sorts of hell was unleashed on me...... and I finished 6th. :mad::mad: :laugh:

My only complaint is how sore the A button is making my right thumb....

Looks like this is gonna end up being the best selling Wii U game. It seems to have had a small long term effect on console sales too. Only small though.
 
That's what Nintendo needs to get right. A big, appealing game every month for 6 months would really get some momentum.

Remember the first DS? After the launch buzz sales were pretty low, then after almost a year they released a succession of compelling titles in fairly close proximity and it was smashing success.
I know DS development is cheaper and faster, but it might just be time to bite the bullet and throw some cash around to get the ball rolling. I also think that Nintendo should consider releasing games with more obvious numbering. Like MK8 - obviously the latest release in the series. There is too much history and giving games subtitles and adding "New" or "U" doesn't always make it obvious that a game is a major new piece of software, rather than a re-release or HD compilation or something.
