I see this is what is new with ME L as far as graphics and performance
  • Improved depth of field
  • Dynamic shadow improvements
  • Unified motion blur solution
  • Lens flare upgrades
  • Remastered for 4K UHD
  • Uncapped FPS on XSX
  • 60 fps on PS4/X1X

What does that even mean?

This remaster on XSX/S is no different than Gears 5, Horizon 4, Cold War, etc.
Games with native versions. COD is even on PS5 too.

Even with Xbox better BC handling there should still be native versions. Its not just about 60>120 fps.

How is it any different? Cause EA couldn't bothered to port it to PS5? Don't need porting on XSX/S. This game is no different on Xbox than any other last gen game sporting the Optimised for X/S logo.

So, make up your mind. Either they all are or they all ain't.

Still not native despite the fact that plenty of games are doing native Series versions despite there being no reason to according to you

But if you prefer me saying "where is the PS5 version EA" so you can't move the goal posts then I will say that instead.

I'm not moving goal posts, you are. Just because the PS5 has a s***ty set up doesn't make any difference to the XSX/S version. The XSX/S version is optimized for X/S. It has improved graphics. Higher res. 120Htz support. Takes advantage of the SSD. But somehow isn't the same. Lol. And your only argument is it isn't "native" which isn't even a thing on XSX/S.

It performs better on PS5 too but that doesn't make it a next gen game because it isn't

Any game that runs better on next consoles is now next gen. Who knew?

No. It is how much faster it loads that shows the effort put forward.

I'm not calling it anything. 120Htz is a next gen feature as is massively reduced loading times. It isn't debateable. Sitting there saying they didn't put any next gen features in means you render 90% of next gen versions as not next gen versions.
The load times decrease because an SSD is included, they'd load even faster if Bioware actually went in and did the work to truly take advantage of the SSD's in these new consoles but they didn't. RDR2 loads a minute faster on PS5 than on PS4 with no work being done to take advantage of the SSD but it still takes over a minute to load. Spider-Man which they actually went back and worked on to make it take advantage of the PS5 SSD loads from dashboard to gameplay in under 10 seconds, you can load a saved game from the menu screen in 2 seconds on PS5 vs 26 seconds on PS4 that's actually putting in work, if they hadn't done that it's probably be somewhere in the middle.

Bioware has done nothing for the next gen consoles, it's the consoles BC restrictions or lack thereof that make the 120hz possible bioware didn't do that.

Next gen games actually have work put into them to take advantage of the new consoles, graphical upgrades for one which this collection does not do, there are no graphical enhancements for next gen consoles in this collection. If it's a next gen game you can buy a PS5 or XSX version of the game, that is not an option here, it is only a PS4/X1 game collection that happens to be playable on new consoles and that part is what's not debatable.

Your logic here is flawed to f***. It has everything all other optimized for X/Stitles have, but this is somehow exempt.

You can play all X1 games on XSX/S, but get guess what, they don't take advantage of SSD or get higher FPS. But sure, yeah, right, not debateable. What a joke.

In an interview with IGN, director Mac Walters said that a full-on next-gen launch of the collection was "just a bridge too far."

"To me if I'm buying a game on this next-generation of hardware, I expect a lot from it, and I think it's more than what we could have pushed [Unreal Engine 3] to do, and again more than we could've done with a true remaster," he said. "To me it would have felt a little disingenuous. I think it's better suited for the next Mass Effect."

Walters also denied that BioWare was considering an eventual optimization patch instead -- at least not for the time being. However, he added that the game would experience some next-gen hardware perks for those playing on PS5 or Xbox Series X.

You can play all X1 games on XSX/S, but get guess what, they don't take advantage of SSD or get higher FPS. But sure, yeah, right, not debateable. What a joke.
Pretty much every X1 game loads faster when running on the internal SSD of the Series X, have you not been paying attention? every game I've seen tested loads faster on the SSD's, they do it to varying degrees but they all do it without any work being done to make it happen. The higher FPS is there because the framerate is unlocked and MS's BC allows older games to use more of the available power than Sony's BC does, if Bioware actually did some work they could have made the PS5 120fps as well, these are slightly dressed up xbox 360/PS3 games for crying out loud. Where do you keep reading about these greatly improved loading times? All I can find are things where the writer just makes the assumption that they'll be faster because all other BC games are to varying degrees on the SSD's.

Yep those hardware perks are the things you automatically get when playing an old game on these new consoles, they didn't actually do anything to take advantage of them during development. If they actually patched in some other stuff this discussion wouldn't even be happening.
 
I feel like we're getting a bit shortchanged by not having Andromeda included in the collection. If you're not making something new, make it a complete collection then.

A higher FOV for consoles would be nice.
 
I feel like we're getting a bit shortchanged by not having Andromeda included in the collection. If you're not making something new, make it a complete collection then.

Nobody cares about that 🗑 game....lol

I enjoyed Andromeda. Was it the same calobre as the OG trilogy, no, but it was still a decent ME game.

It wasn't the suckiest suck that ever sucked, but it's also the only ME game that I only played through once (and I've never really felt the pull to return to it).

I'm playing on PC today. Boy does it feel good to have native controller support on PC. Forgot how much I loved to cooldown system for the guns in ME 1 instead of the thermal clips later on.
