Microsoft At E3 2018

Rollins - Incomplete. Once the show is over, he'll post the details of the sixteen games in development that weren't announced yet or shown, at least eleven of which are Indie Battle Royale shooters.

Alright, that’s only *partially* true. One top of attempting to steal demos of unreleased games, and trying to get certain cosplay chick’s phone #’s, I will also be attempting to get pics with whatever D-List celebrity is at the MS fan gathering. All the whole pretending to like them while I’m really just comparing teeth whiteness.

Oh and every year I hear this ‘behind closed door’ sh*t.
I will also be attempting to break into any of these that I hear about.

I don’t take anything from Xbox marketing people with any grains of salt. They just ended their pre-E3 Inside Xbox show with a 30 minute poorly acted Escape Room segment to promote their new game. Just another in a long list of embarrassments from that team. Those people are very out of touch with their target audience.

Where did you watch this?

I think that he's talking about the last Inside Xbox video. I haven't watched the whole thing, but I don't care to. What are they going to talk about so close to any E3, anyway? Nothing important, ever.

I know its a long shot but I think there will be 3 different type of Xbox live because they are now discontinuing SKYPE on Xbox one.

I asked the guys to make sure.

Something tells me that Xbox live will go free with no party chat and no gold perks. This is the reason why they stopped SKYPE.

I seriously doubt they will make it free. They make too much money from live subs, making it free would say a massive chunk of those subs cancelled. I know I would. Party chat, GWG are not worth the £40 year.

Yeah, no way they offer XBL for free. That would be giving up way too much revenue.

Well i dont mean completely gone i mean that might be the silver level.

No party chat no gold perks and now no Skype.

I still think there is going to 3 levels of Xbox live

We'll definitely have to see what they come up with. I do think that there will probably be three tiers of Live. I just don't see them giving away more with Silver, but you never know. Phil was a big part of removing that stupid pay-wall from Netflix and other media apps. Anybody remember that dumb stuff that Microsoft was pulling?

I also don't see them taking away features from Gold, to go instead on a higher tier. Phil Spencer is still very backlash-sensitive, I think. Xbox Live Gold is their Bread and Butter. Removing features, or raising the price of Gold would not generate good PR, and there could be big backlash, IMO.

IMO, they need a third tier for Game Pass and whatever else that does not encroach on the other tiers, as they are fine the way they are. No reason to mess with the cash cow. Just build another level on top that's really enticing.

The best I could see is them removing the gold requirement for f2p games. Anything else would just be them giving away money. Its pretty clear that being the console with free online is not much of an advantage.

This is how it can work

Tier 3. Xbox live, party chat chat, free games with gold, gold deals, game pass, EA access, and no advertising on Dashboard. - MS discount price bundle.

Tier 2. Xbox live, party chat, free games with gold, gold deals, and no advertising on Dashboard. - $10 off Xbox live

Tier 1. Xbox live, no party chat, no free games with gold, no gold deals, limit 20 friends on list, and get all the advertising on dashboard to help pay for Xbox live.

That is how I can see it.

I don't think they should change the two current tiers at all, just add a 3rd tier.

I just don't see them giving away XBL for free. They were pioneers in charging for online gaming. They aren't going to pull back on that. Too much money at stake.

I could see them maybe offering a cheapo tier for $40. But not for free.

3 levels, maybe. Silver & gold will just be what they are now. Then a 3rd one for gold & gamepass at a reduce yearly cost. That is assuming MS will even go this route.

Here's Gamespot's speculation about E3. Sounds more like a wishlist to me than actual predictions.

https://www.gamespot.com/articles/e3-2018-microsoft-xbox-one-predictions-halo-6-blue/1100-6459227/

Highlights:

Halo 6
A new Blue Dragon
Platinum has something in the works

MS streaming service
Crackdown 3 battle royale mode
Perfect Dark 2 is Rare's next game

Right..A new Blue Dragon (to get greenlit over LO2) and something again from Platinum after Scalebound? Are they high?

Halo 6 is very possible.

Platinum Games, nah.

Streaming Service, who knows...would be a waste of time IMO.

CD3 BR mode...why not. It needs something.

PD2 being Rare's next game, possibly. Announced this year, nope.

Blue Dragon? Really? A game that was nothing special and didn't do all that well sales wise, nah.

Yeah its pretty much an article of what someone is hoping for and nothing more

I'd love to see Lost Odyssey 2 but them making a JRPG that sells 0 copies in Japan doesn't really make sense.

That would be 4 new exclusives plus a new Halo, Forza, and Crackdown.

Are they saying Alan Wake 2 (Bright Falls)? I thought Remedy was moving on from their exclusive partnership with Microsoft.

"Core"? Is that supposed to be a Recore sequel?

What's that last item -- "Introduction Nintendo"?

Sounds fake.

I’m assuming another elaborate fake:

I want to believe...but it’s missing a lot of 3rd party games we know will be there. Specifically the EA stuff that Microsoft has marketing rights for. It’s also a 2 hour show. Not 2 hours of content right there.

Based on a Walmart leak, something Gears is more likely to show than something Halo.

That type of conference would greatly exceed my expectations. It’s the kind of day Xbox gamers have been waiting for.

Well it is page 3 of 6. So I’m going to believe for now. Just because.

So scouring around the net to see what Insiders think....seems Microsofts E3 might not be so bad after all. The read on it is that it'll get mixed reactions. There are some "nice" announcements but nothing in the category of a Horizon: ZD, God of War, Spider-Man, etc. Microsoft has big stuff in the works but none that are ready for show yet and most likely they'll all release when the next Xbox comes out.

Have heard that Forza Horizon is the only playable 1st party game at E3 meaning that Forza is the last/only exclusive left for 2018. This is where the disappointment comes in. Will highlight huge investment gap. Most big projects outside of Halo and Gears didn't get greenlit until 2017 (which most of us already assumed by now).

What's interesting about that list above is that is does a good job fitting in with the current rumors and almost everything there is plausible. Could be they just compiled rumors and faked something plausible from them. Mech Assault has already been rumored. Conkers has been on their radar for a bit and I'm wondering if the OG Xbox BC release did well enough to get their attention. If Microsoft is desperate for single player content for Game Pass, Remedies games make sense. Either Alan Wake or QB could've been episodic. They have a game engine that looked good on Xbox. Don't need 3 years to get the first episode out.

There's been rumors that Microsoft wants to get streaming on Switch. Switch recently announced their first streaming game with Resident Evil 7.

I'm starting to believe that a spinoff Halo makes a lot of sense because it would buy some time to make Halo 6 a Xbox One Next launch title.
