FTC trial leaks show that it cannibalized sales . It may be profitable but what exactly is that profit number ? $1?, $1000? They all can be deemed "profitable".
I don't think Microsoft has any idea what it is doing anymore regarding xbox. If they are going to go third party, just f***ing pull the bandaid off already.

Microsoft is no worse than any other major publisher who are all doing the same thing or similar things and they don't deserve any more flack than anyone else but Microsoft BSed their way into convincing people they were above all this and so many cheered on their acquisitions because of it.

You can't blame it on the acquisition unless you know this wouldn't have happened without the acquisition, which nobody does. HiFi Rush just went to PS5 and sold poorly with people knowing in advance it was a great game, so clearly it isn't GamePass. This is such a stupid take.

Yes, but he has to hit certain metrics, and those are usually mandated by someone above him. I imagine that came down from someone like Amy Hood and put him in an unwinnable situation.

During the acquisition, I'm pretty sure some people posted about how MS could absorb these massive publishers' costs/expenses and boast about their massive piles of cash until things get more rosy.
Well guess what, 3 years into Zenimax acquisition, we got some of these studios last titles release when they were still being worked on. Would they have closed if they were still independent ATVI? Would they have closed even if they exceeded expectations of what a studio size Tango and Arkane Austin are expected to perform at ? Who knows but reality is MS has decided to close them, one for underperforming and the other even after exceeding. That's all we can react on right now in the moment. Damned if you do, damned if you don't vibes.
So it's based on "some people posted" and "who knows". Which is my point. For all we know these studios could have been shuttered months ago if Zenimax was still independent.
