I only lurked and never joined because honestly, the place was a little too big for me. I could imagine myself getting caught up in a billion constant little conversations and/or wars... and I'm too old for that s***.

But yes, the place had some good points for sure. But I'm happiest here, so this place needs to last forever.

I get what you're saying, but it is a tad different.

A product, and an actively involved community are two different things.

By the sounds of it, the mods were rather vocal in the way they were shaping the community, no?

If the VP of a company was comming into your home and telling you how to live your life around their product, I'd think it'd be more comparable.

Yep, it's me. And yes, I remember you, and that thread. I was waaaaay too obsessed with Fable before it came out. When it finally launched I was oddly more interested in making Sims 2 comics based on TXB members.

My God I was a dork.

I wonder how many of these mods knew exactly what evilore has done in life, but still rode the coattails of gaming's biggest forum..... only to bail ship if it came to this. And if it didn't and every thing was normal, they'd still be moderators hoping this issue is kept secret.

Yeah, I'm with you there.

I kinda feel weird knowing that it's going on at all. I mean, it's kind of none of our business in a way... And I'm pretty sure I only feel that way because none of them are attractive.

If they were hot celebs, I'd be bathing in the juicy gossip like it was my weekly soak in a tub of virgin blood.

If it turned out that Andy and PV were like JinCA, and were into donkey porn, I'm not sure if I'd be bothered by it all.

I guess I think of them as our cult leaders, and they can do whatever they want in the purity barn, as long as we don't peak.

I also remember that Madden 05 vs. ESPN NFL 2K5 thread... Man, that was classic! 2K5 was the last NFL game I bought

I miss those days... It was the best time I ever had at a forum, and I'm glad to see some people still around from those days :txbsmile:

The gaming world kinda let it slide and slip under the rug with Itagaki and were like "oh you kooky bloke, you're a live action Quagmire aren't ya".

More people will come out if they have nothing to lose.

It's actually like the whole Harvey Weinstein/Hollywood shenanigans where everyone seems to know this has been going on for ages, but almost nobody says anything about it. A big hush-hush industry.

Gaming is an odd industry because it's almost all guys working at devs, and most people on forums, running forums etc... are probably mostly guys. And gaming is not a glitzy industry like Hollywood, BUT because there are seemingly so few women in gaming industry, maybe it means there is more sexual assault and stupid things because every guy is so horny at the lack of females.

Who knows. But just like Harvey, more gaming related issues will surely crop out later on.

Don't be surprised if he does.

Even some terribly bankrupt companies can still get outsiders to buy them up to salvage something.

However, unlucky for GAF, it is just that GAF. Other companies seemingly dead in the water may have some scraps worth paying pennies on the dollar in hopes of a turnaround.

The GAF brand is basically dead now. It's just a matter of whether the user base (millions?) is worth taking the risk to buy assuming they stick around.

One thing I don't get.

With this fiasco happening tonight, lots of GAF users were asking to be perma-banned.

Why?

I get you don't want to be associated with the site anymore, but why get yourself banned? Just quit the forum and forget about it. The site is probably going to disappear any day now anyway for good.

Who knew that Fisting: The Musical would be such a potent moment for my career! Combining a catchy showtune, with the correct lube and a decent run up created something magical.
