NeoGaf on Life Support, and all Mods quit!

He'd want to be careful making statements like that considering he's a public representative of xbox.
Why? I'm guessing they treated him poorly because he doesn't work for sony? He needs to show respect to someone there for what? All the death threats he probably got...

Make no mistake. The celebration that you are seeing in response to neogaf's downfall is a direct repudiation of the forum's toxicity and vile treatment of opposing opinions. To a large degree, it is also a repudiation of the extremist leftists and their agenda who plagued the forum as well.
Yup.

I never read the Off Topic section, so I'm not sure how well the threads ran in there regarding sports, politics etc.... but the main gaming thread, most of the posts seemed ok to me.

However, the problem with the board is it became too big and everyone knows that board has clout. So all the pro-Sony tards, developer bashers, SJW crap all took over thinking nothing can do them wrong. And let's face it, there is no way anyone can claim that board safely morphed into an anti-MS forum over this gen. And no mods cared. One mod (Bish... not sure what happened to him) even worked with a Sony exec at an old company.

Some devs make an account and chime in, and even when they try to explain things, the sheer number of tards on that board will result in devs getting flak right to their faces. There's too much skepticism. No wonder so many insiders kept their communication low. On one hand, I'm sure they are itching to talk with the GAF members, but they know there's going to be some angry guys getting back at them. So they steer clear.

And no mods cared.

As much as I thought Too Human was a garbage game, Dennis Dyack got banned for bickering with the board and calling GAF a crap site. OK, pretty childish, but for all the people who argued back at him, where was the fallout for the users? None. You'd think a dev would get some respect and maybe give the guy some breathing room as he's talking with 100s of gamers, but Dyack gets the boot (pretty funny though), and GAF members continue piling it on after? Sounds dumb.

Although Cliffy B seems like a worm half the time, when he made a claim that the gaming industry hates the forum, it holds some truth. Amazing how nobody else claims anything against other forums (well, 4Chan weird shyt excluded), but even clickbait junk like Kotaku from years back doesn't even get this much flak.

Amazing. Read Dyack's response during his Neogaf fight with the forum. Who knew he was right the whole time.

I was basically calling out people who had no way of assessing the game... All I wanted to point out to people is that this is so ridiculous... I went through all of this for two reasons.... If you're going to look at the NeoGAF forum as a non-profit organization, if it does not reform itself, it's eventually going to crumble. There's going to be a point where they step over the line where someone's going to shut them down. That would be a loss for everyone.... The question I have to ask the moderators of GAF: Are you going to follow your own rules? With people making GIFs of myself that are, I would say, attacking me.... Why haven't 180 people been banned now? If I wanted to move in and shut that place down, do I have grounds under their own forum policy?

NeoGAF and other forums like this that don't have good management are not only hurting society and hurting the videogame industry, they're in decline, and they need to reform quickly before people stop listening to them... If the moderators and people who run the site think they aren't doing any damage, they are sorely mistaken, and it's only a matter of time before something bad happens.

Fair game.

Major Nelson used to post there as well as that Albert Panello. They would post some small stuff about Xbox, and they would get harsh replies. No wonder they stopped posting. Gamers and mods didn't seem to care, so why should MS execs?

GAF became a safe haven for anti-MS crud. Now that GAF is dead (the site is still down), now all the posters will spread out to other forums that have stricter rules.

Guaranteed..... the amount of pro-Sony/anti-MS stuff will drop 10-fold with GAF gone.

I'll miss "stinkles"....I remember him replying to a thread I started on txb, I got all giddy like a Japanese school girl when I saw "Frankie" at the bottom of active users.

*plays "baby come back" on phone*

Never posted at the site and maybe went there a handful of times over the years if something big happened regarding console rumors etc. From what I heard it sounded like a complete mess to follow anything anyways. I prefer Reddit subs for whatever I'm interested in to at least have some sort of order.

Albert Panello did make an ass out of himself there.

I always saw GAF as more pro Nintendo than anyone else. They were always the ones who who defended despite being the one who has done the least to really deserve that love in recent years. But this is all a result of the console war views where Nintendo is viewed as irrelevant to it and nobody is bothered by Nintendo opinions like they are Sony and MS

The view of him towards them and them towards him is purely a result of the political divide that exists so I really don't find takes like these to be meaningful

The funny thing about checking some boards like IGN and GS who have GAF threads, you don't see anyone wanting to welcome GAF refugees to their board. You'd think more gamers posting = better.

Most people either don't care about GAF posters (indifferent) or don't want them to register.

lol

Who knows. If you check his Twitter, all weekend he's been back and forth tweeting about games or sports.

He conveniently left it open while not referring to anything in particular... I just see it as crazy to think he meant the Yankees are burning down

Just doesn't seem like the right context at all to use, while it fits perfectly for Gaf going up in flames

It's funny how the same WWW of fanboys took his talk of sports and the Yankees going down in flames (They got crushed) and they turn it into fanboy wars. I guess nobody reads in context anymore.

Sounds like more than a political divide..?

He’s a big (figuratively and literally) Youtube game/industry commentator. Major Nelson went to his house and gifted him an X1 (or maybe it was X1S?) when it released.

Exactly. It was left deliberately ambiguous on purpose.

If he had meant that comment was about a sports game he would have made that explicit in the original post. I don’t buy for a second that that was the meaning of the post.

Either way. He’s covered himself now. That’s some master class bulls*** right there, folks.

He posted that Yankee tweet the second they lost last night lol.

I assumed it was because I remember seeing a gif with him talking about meeting in the middle meaning he was on the right with people like GAF being on the left. Seems like he was banned for something gamergate related. GAF claiming he supported it in some way with him saying that wasn't the case.

Either way I am not interested in the opinions of bitter banned members. Anyone that has gone on GAF knows what its like so if you decide to be a member you know what you are getting yourself into.

I have a feeling Denis Dyack will make a statement this coming week. I know it!
