I am surprised the X software sales are as high as they are if the PS4 is outselling the Xbox 2:1 over there. In many cases, software sales are almost 50/50.

Possible 1X effect? People buying the big AAA multiplats to play on their 1X? Possible, although it's hard to tell just based on one week.

To get a real idea, we'd have to know 1) install base differential in the UK (not just recent sales ratios, but install base) and/or 2) previous platform splits for these types of titles. I don't know either. I would guess the install base ratio is similar to the US, which is, what? about 1.2 to 1, something like that? 55/45? I'm just guessing, but that's ballpark. And the previous platform splits I've seen have been all over the place, depending on the game, but in general seemed to favor the PS4 by about 60/40 -- although that's very much just my guesstimate, and I wouldn't put any real faith in it.

Anyhow, it'll be interesting to see if we can suss out (as the Brits say ... do they still say that?) whether the introduction of the 1X produces significant shifts in multiplatform purchase splits (i.e., whether people start buying more multiplats on Xbox than they did before). It would stand to reason, as that is the big selling point.

I'm surprised at what long a tail that bandicoot has. Still hanging in there at #10, even after six months.

I believe these are the prices for Dec 17-31: Xbox Ss bundles for $199, PS4s for $249, and Switches for $299.

I'm guessing Switch will be #1 in December (US), because of all the parents buying Switches as gifts, Xbox will be #2 because of the $50+ price difference and new hardware, and PS4 will uncharacteristically limp in at #3.

Crash is dirt cheap now and bundled heavily in the UK

Some believe the 360 outsold the PS3..

don't be a dick

When Sony actually release numbers...

Anyways Okami HD limped into the charts at 37

Would have bought it myself if not for the terrible motion blur

Okami HD is a great game. Just beware that the game is extremely long. It took me about 40 hours or close to that.

My guess is:

1. Switch
2. PS
3. Xbox

Isn't PUBG digital only anyway? The boxes at the store are just digital codes. Or are they counting boxes with digital codes in them as physical sales?

In this case it's just a quibble over definition.#bison Some games come on disc, others on memory cards, others on pieces of card. There's basically no difference in your example where you sell a piece of paper with the code on and the card you buy in stores.

In this case it's just giving it more exposure...and why not, it's the biggest game of 2017. I mean they could have made a disc with just the code on it and it prompts you for a 5GB 'patch' which is secretly the whole game.

It's never been disproven

PlayStation 3: A Sony press release reported 80 million sold as of November 2, 2013.[23] 3.4 million were shipped in 2014 and 0.4 million in the first quarter of 2015.

83.8 million by April 1 2015

Xbox 360 shipped (or sold) 84 million by June 2014

So even launch aligned it didn't catch up.

Though I think most would agree at this point, the Xbox 360 library isn't inherant to one console and so will probably be thriving more than the PS3 ecosystem over the next 3000 years.

Numbers been posted>wiki a site anyone can edit.

This again? Console warrioring at its most petty. Whoever "won," it was by a miniscule margin.

Nintendo won by a good margin

The simple fact is we don't have any official numbers on what the 360 or PS3 ended up on but I have no problem winding people up about it if the thought of Sony finishing 3rd worries them so much.

Xbox having a 2nd place,3rd place and 3rd place(if we go by month to month ww numbers) hurts.

Well that is a slippery slope. So essentially, I could just write down a 25 digit code on a piece of paper and sell it for $30, and it's a physical copy.
They've been doing that on PC for years.

Open up a nice big PC game box, just to find a steam key.

f*** you MGS:V!

Or 3 2nd places in a row if we don't try any lame spin.

The Wii U needing nearly 3 life cycles to catch up with the Xbox one sales... "hurts"
Or the Xbox coming in and beating the cube despite being a lot more expensive.

Anyways. UK charts won't combine retail and digital sales till 2019 so next year will see 2 separate charts.

You on like monkey dong!

Are you asking if he likes monkey dong or if he's currently on it? I need to know because I've been meaning to start devoting my spare time to being a chimp pimp and if I know I have a guaranteed customer, it's time to throw down.

Both. PM me the details

Ok this is totally crazy! The other day I was googling about how to get a pet monkey into Australia, and then someone mentioned about smuggling monkeys in the political thread!

Then just earlier today, I was wondering if you could rent a monkey for just an hour or two, since I'd get sick of it/jealous of its fur, and would get rid of it quickly. And voila! You talk about monkey pimping!

Other news:

Cuphead hits 2 million (PC/Xbox).

Crash Bandicoot is "No. 1 top selling remastered collection in PS4 history. The title has continued to remain among the top 10 selling PS4 titles in the US for the year, so far, in units."

The "top selling remastered collection" is not exactly a highly competitive category, but it did beat out the Uncharted Collection, which is noteworthy. And it's good to hear it's selling well in the US, with a long tail, like in the UK. I thought it would make a nice Xmas bundle with Ratchet, although I haven't see that.
