Paris Games Week (Sony conference 10/27)

Good fan made video:

Good s***. It felt like modern day Ps2 era.

I woudn't necesserly go by twitter. I would say 50/50 % chance that Horizon Zero Dawn shows up at PGW. You never who's holding back suprises.

Seems like there is a playable demo of Uncharted 4 at Paris Games Week.

Horizon looked great, as before. The world is vibrant and the animations are very smooth. I wish they gave a little more background on the story though...is there an 'enemy' besides the creatures on the planet? And is the bow a permanent fixture? Seems very versatile but can you dump it?

Ratchet and Clank looks fantastic...I even saw a little SSOD influence (or vice versa).

I'm really looking forward to gameplay impressions of UC4 during the week as well.

I like the idea behind No Man's Sky, seems very ambitious....but so far nothing they've shown of the gameplay gets me excited. I'm probably in the minority here, but it looks a little boring....? Maybe that'll change when they show more.

Turismo "SPORT" is in 2016 confirmed:

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/10/27/gran-turismo-sport-coming-to-ps4-in-2016/

Racing fans, brace yourselves — this evening at the Paris Games Week PlayStation Press Conference, Kazunori Yamauchi, along with SCEE CEO & President Jim Ryan, unveiled on stage the latest Gran Turismo iteration: Gran Turismo Sport, coming to PS4 in 2016.

On stage, the Polyphony team talked about the advances that PS4 offers to allow them to continue to improve the graphics, physics, and sound to deliver the most realistic driving simulator to date. But with GT Sport they’re looking to deliver more than that; to deliver a revolution in the way that people experience driving games, a figurative “rebirth” of motorsports.

FIA Gran Turismo Championships
In Gran Turismo Sport, there will be two FIA online championships running simultaneously. In the Nations Cup, players will be able represent their home country. Whilst in the Manufacturers Cup, players will be driving on behalf of their favorite car manufacturer.

Players will not only be able to race as drivers themselves, they’ll also be able to root for their home country or their favorite manufacturers teams.

The winner of the championship will be awarded in the same manner as real life motorsports champions, at the FIA prize giving ceremony. This will be a historic moment, the first time a video game will officially be recognized as part of the real motoring world.

FIA Partnership
Working alongside the historic FIA, to develop a game that continues to be more realistic and authentic, the online racing championships promise to offer something new for players.

But it’s not just about online racing; the GT teams have continued to build on the games legacy of accessibility to ensure that the game is open to all to enjoy.

With the beta expected to begin in Spring 2016, it won’t be long before players can experience all GT has to offer on the power of PS4.

Quantic Dream’s Latest Game Detroit Revealed, Exclusive to PS4
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015...atest-game-detroit-revealed-exclusive-to-ps4/

Hi everyone. Some of you might remember a PS3 tech demo called Kara that we released in 2012. It was about an android who discovered she could feel emotions and appeared to be sentient. Many people were deeply moved by this character and felt empathy for this character who just wanted to live. But everyone had the same question: what happens to Kara when she leaves the factory?

I kept asking myself the same question since we released this short. I knew I had to find out!

So we imagined our world in a near future where androids like Kara would look, speak, and move like real human beings. We wondered how we — humans — would react if we were confronted with a new form of intelligence, how androids conceived as machines would be perceived if they started to have emotions.

We didn’t want to do another story on AI (there are already so many great ones), we wanted to talk about what it means to be human and what it would be like to be in the shoes of an android discovering our world and their own emotions…

I am really excited to announce that Quantic Dream’s new title is called Detroit.

WiLD looks amazing, I've been wanting a game like that for a looooong time. Ratchet and Clank looks beautiful, Uncharted MP looks great and Horizon looks like it'll be an awesome experience as well. I'm not really interested in VR so none of that did anything for me, neither did the GT stuff but I know a lot of other people will be happy with that.

No Man's Sky looks more like something I'd play in clumps, like I'd sit back and relax and play it for a few hours once every couple of weeks or something but it doesn't look like an action packed adventure you are right. I think they've said it's supposed to be more of an exploration game than anything else, I think maybe they announced it too early and it's been shown so many times already that the shine has worn off for a lot of people.

Some trailers and demos from the show.

WiLD:

Looks great to me. I love the inspiration, setting, and the focus on animals, exploration, and nature. No release date yet, but it looks pretty far along. One of those indie gems that makes me glad to be a PS4 owner.

Ratchet & Clank:

Looks great. I've played the first game twice, so I'm not sure I'm up for another run -- otoh, I didn't recognize any of those scenes, and this is definitely a re-imagining, not just a remaster. R & C has always been good, playful fun, so I might end up getting it.

Uncharted 4 Multiplayer:

I never played any of the other Uncharted multiplayers, but this looks pretty fun.

Detroit:

New Quantic Dream game. I'm in. Cage always disappoints me somehow, but I continue to be intrigued by his attempts.

Good news re. Detroit -- Cage is only one of three writers on the project. That's a first for a Quantic Dream game. I'm glad, because Cage's writing needed some help.

Brief summary of the conference:

"Titles like Matterfall, hailing from the studio that brought us Resogun, dropped jaws with its particle heavy, action-packed reveal. And then there’s Detroit, the evolution of the impressive Kara demo Quantic Dreams teased us with three long years ago. We also got a glimpse at Media Molecule’s surreal Dream and the mysterious, portal-filled world of Boundless.

"Fans looking for the return of something they’ve loved for years were sure to be pleased by the announcement of Grand Turismo Sport, which is finally bringing Sony’s flagship racing simulator to the PlayStation 4. Toting a brand new name change, PlayStation VR saw its own share of interesting new titles. Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, RIGS: Mechanized Combat League, and Robinson: The Journey are just a few of the VR games that took the stage at Sony’s event.

"Brand new announcement weren’t the only talking points. No Man’s Sky finally got a release window, WiLD showcased bear riding and giant snake goddesses, and Street Fighter V revealed a new character, a release date, and six mystery characters to be added post-launch. Not to mention new details on Uncharted 4’s multiplayer and Gravity Rush 2 gameplay."

There was other stuff, too, but that hits some of the highlights.

Does Detroit being a game about a robot mean no shower scenes?

Only thing I have seen that looks good is Wild.

Not sure if I have seen everything, though.

Uncharted, meh.
Ratchet & clank, meh.
The entire VR presentation, meh...well except for Robinson which looked interesting, but we need to see more.
Detroit looks interesting, but again, we need to see more.

It was a pretty good conference with a few new announcements and lots of new information on already announced titles. They botched up the GT Sport announcement for me, I have only realised like many it has a single player campaign when it didn't allude to that. Now that is confirmed that is a massive announcement.
