PC gaming brings in more $ then consoles.

I will ask this again. True or false, do I need a monitor if I want to play a game at maximum resolution (assuming the game exceeds 1080p). Say I want to run ARMA 3 at 2560x1600, are you telling us that I can do that just fine on our 60" Vizio LED at 2560x1600?

Do you have the option of playing at higher than 1080p on consoles? No. If they did would you need to buy a new TV? Yes.

PC games render natively at whever res you set them to, unlike consoles.

All once again, based on ignorance.

For the record.. i was just in here, in vain, trying to clarify Kvally's point a little.

I don't game on PC, haven't in more than 12 years.

I am out of this thread, as I can see the PC guys are a little touchy.
Meh, it's just general discussion....no need to leave ;)

I didn't need any clarifying. I was pointing out that PC gaming isn't the best (too many variables), and console gaming isn't the best (gets dated too fast). No doubt there are gaming rigs that can run multiplatform games substantially better than consoles. But that isn't going to the the $400 PC that you pick up at Best Buy or Walmart (like you do a console). You have to spend some quality time researching and building your own, which I plan to do at some point again. It's been a long time since I built myself a bad boy.

Oh
my
gawd

What does higher resolution have to do with anything. Resolution in pc gaming is NOT restricted to any particular resolution.
Why would you need to ask about 2560x1600 when most console games barely can do sub-1080p?

I am asking a question about PC, not console. Let's try this again...do I need a monitor to play games at a res higher than 1080p, or are you going to play ignorant and not answer the question?

Jesus age Christ on a Popsicle stick. Answer the f***ing question. Would I need a monitor to run a game at 2560x1600, or can it be done on TV. Remember, it's the PC crowd that has said that gaming on PC is less expensive than consoles, and is much better performance wise and resolution wise.

Do I need a monitor to run a game at 2560x1600?

I understood your point... but to these guys, it seemed like it was missing the target.

And PC isn't the best gaming platform (stating that as a fact). Would you agree that is just an opinion?

It depends on the pc of course. A high end pc designed and capable of running today's games is indeed better. Higher resolution, better performance, options to use various input devices, free online gaming, etc.....those are metrics that can be measured. Higher resolution when all else is equal,is better. Better performance is.....better. Free is better. More options are better than less options.

Yes, of course, not ALL PCs are better for gaming, but again, no one ever claimed all PCs were best for gaming.

Really?

So, when he said this, you didn't think he wasn't being dishonest in the least bit?

I bought a brand new computer, and I should never have to upgrade...according to the PC elitists.

Before you answer....consider that PC gamers, or elitists, ever said that.

LOL.

Mod's please lock this thread.

LOL..doesn't even know the answer. It's pretty simple.

Nah, Qbert gets it....but he is missing one....see below.

You missed one key factor here Qbert. PC is NOT the best gaming console as a fact, because PC does NOT have all the AAA games available to that platform. There are far too many good exclusives on the Wii, Playstation and Xbox. If exclusive titles on those consoles are NOT available on PC, and gamers prefer to play those titles, then clearly PC is NOT the best gaming platform (nor is console).

Because he won't answer the question he's asking as well. I had to answer it for him because the answer is the same for PC and console gaming, with console gaming you do not have the option of playing at higher than 1080p, alot of games don't even render at native 1080p, but if they did render at higher than 1080p then you would require a new TV. Does this guy also not know you can hook up a PC to a TV?

If you want to the best you have to dish some money out, but you can beat next gen consoles for rather cheap as I have already proved with my AMD build, just because he made a uneducated purchase with an AIO crap machine it does not mean the general public is like that as well. I see every dayers go into Microcenter and get help from their associates on PC builds when I go over there for PC all the time. I sold PC hardware to a guy who was clueless but was willing to get the knowledge and learn and he texted me later thanking me for saving him money and making smart recommendations. Just because he's an idiot it doesn't make the general public idiots.

People also forget that PC's do alot more than just play games, they do EVERYTHING, which is point that alot of people forget as well.

As far as more FPS shooters on PC than consoles, right now there's 78,000 people on Battlefield 4 on consoles and 25,000 on PC playing.
That's because everyone on PC is still playing Battlefield 2. That's right. We PC gamers have actual taste! :D

I've already answered that question ya dolt, but you never answered mine.
The answer is YES, you need to buy a monitor to play a game on PC at 2560x1600. Glad we could help you...it wasn't that hard, was it? :) As I seem to recall, resolutiongate...resolution is important for the BEST gaming experience.

Please don't call members names.

Do you have the option of playing at higher than 1080p on console? Would you have to buy a new TV if you could?

I'll answer then for you since you can't read. No, and Yes.

So I will ask what again what the point of the res and TV arguement was?

Another question, do you have to pay to play online on next gen consoles?

I will answer your question once you answered mine. I asked first:

Do you need a monitor to run a game at 2560x1600 or can I do it on my 60" Vizio LCD 1080p TV? Remember, I am told that PC is the BEST gaming experience and is LESS money than console gaming.

I know you do with the PS4 and Xbox One, absolutely. It's free on PC. Games are cheaper on PC too.

Can you edit and render movies that were captured from a camera on console?

Can you edit and record music on console? What about CAD?

and 3D rendering/modeling, can you do that on console?

Another question, can you make MOD's on console?

Not legally.

Can you do school work and or work on a console?

No.

Can you edit and render movies that were captured from a camera on console?

No.

Can you edit and record music on console? What about CAD?

No.

I can do all that on my Macbook Air from 2013 and on the HP All In One from 2013. Can I play ARMA 3 on my Macbook Air and HP All In One at the best possible experience?
