TDbanks....platforms evolve overtime. The PC was originally conceived as a device for using mathematical algorithms for guiding missiles. As time progressed, and technology improved it became less about computational tasks and more about entertainment. PC's gave birth to the modern gaming console. This is factual. The console is a direct spawn of the PC being used for entertainment.
In that vein....yes consoles were designed for games, but as stated platforms evolve over time. Now consoles can surf the internet, download games, and even perform complex mathematical algorithms used for non-gaming functions (a la folding @ home)
These are tasks PC's have been doing for years....and coincidentally the PC platform has also been a gaming platform.
You can't say that 'PC's aren't meant to be gaming machines'
That is like me saying 'consoles aren't meant to be media (all in one devices) which coincidentally the XB1 bills itself as.
