Penello: Microsoft will talk about Xbox One's architecture "very soon"

So, we should cast an equally jaundiced eye at anything a Sony game studio says about the PS4?

No, not at all. And neither toward independent 3rd party developers and their statements about either company.

Lorne Lanning says "Hi" btw.

That's a rather "odd" reference. Now read my amended post and reply to that.

If Oddworld received financing from Sony, that's news to me.
Only thing I read (not that he would divulge the info publically anyway) is that he chose the OTHER console to bring Oddworld to simple because they were easier to get along with, didn't charge for updates n stuff, and didn't shut him out like last gen. Yea, he is hugely butthurt, I know.

Didn't Oddworld apply for ID@Xbox though when it was announced?

Rudi what you are describing sounds like you are just connecting to a VM, and while in VM can be part of a cloud system, it is not all the cloud is. In fact you could connect to a VM system and not have it be cloud at all.

Yup - we used to work by remote-server before, that were much better - now when I log on with my client - a virtual machine in the clouds spins up, creates a session wich it streams to my client, then it loads various software from various server-farms depending on what program I run, or have access to. :(

Who is supplying the cloud services? or is it in-house?

I don't feel like skimming 20 pages. Did Albert reveal more architecture stuff from when he said this?

Oddworld is a multiplatform-franchise.
New and Tasty is coming to all platforms, except for the Xbox-platforms.

Just Add Water, got thrown so much back and forth by Microsoft last generation - when trying to make Oddworld: Strangers Wrath HD.
They got into pub fund for that game - this program is basically, Sony matching JAW and Oddworld Inhabitants developement investments, dollar for dollar, in return for 3 month exclusivity window, I think - and Sony got their money invested returned when game were released - before Oddworld and JAW started getting the profits. This means basically a rent-free loan, doubling your available money. And keeping the ownership of the IP.

Updated stuff from HD-remake were added to PC-versions when time ran out, but they had huge problems getting it on Xbox. :-/
Each time were a new Arcade-requirement - MS kept saying we'll make this work - and when they turned in their latest fixed version according to MS guidelines - there were a new batch of requirement - it ended when they couldn't self-publish unless they had sold two million retail copies.
However, they were told they could allways fix the patch for the Xbox classic, wich didn't work in the Xbox emulator - and when they had done that, MS suddenly decided to take advantage of the 'not sell the title if superior version is available on competing platforms' - when they asked if they could just put up the remade Strangers Wraith HD version amongst the classic, i.e to get it equal - and they were told they couldn't.

So, they basically figured they weren't wanted on the platform, even tough they offcourse wanted to bring the game out there, they didn't want to relinquish the IP to a different publisher.

I don't even know why you brought him into the discussion. He's an independent studio, now, but far from a true indie, and all he's working on now is a shiny remake of Abe's Odyssey.(yawn) I don't think anyone on the Xbox will miss it and it will be available on computer and (probably) through steam.

People really care for an Oddworld game? Out of all the game forums I skim over the years, yeah, I've sure seen tons of threads and gamers asking, waiting and pleading for an Oddworld game. lol

Microsoft.
Then your company's issues are specific to o combination of your company's ISP, network setup and/or connection to Office 365 as I have not witnessed any such latency issues as you are suggesting. Obviously as cloud services are internet based, everyone's mileage will vary by service paid for, hardware, security layers, etc..

What do review ratings have to do with what I said about gamer interest, demand and sales?

Never cared for platformers--too much gratuitous platforming. I did love Stranger's Wrath, however, and still play it, from time to time, on the original XB1.

Those are "User Scores" not press reviews - ratings by actual people not websites.
Notice that the user reviews are higher than the press reviews.
Gee I guess that means that people really do like Oddworld, huh?

As I mentioned before, Oddworld applied for ID@Xbox, I suspect X1 will see their games eventually....why exactly are we talking about Oddworld though?

Well...they are both developing games exclusive to the Xbox One. Obviously, they are going to compliment the company throwing the money at them.

Becouse we have nothing better to do with our time

The people who liked it liked it. That's what the user reviews say.

Actually, they had the games fully ready for the Xbox, but balked at the now abandoned policy of requiring Indies to partner with a publisher.Unless Sony has paid for console exculsivity, there's no reason the games won't appear on Microsoft's console at a later date. Lanning contributed to the design of the Original Xbox after being displeased with the limitations of PS2 tech.
