Platinum Games Scalebound

The majoruty of gamers don't include BC as new releasws it's merely bonus for MS. The real issue is their line up is unpressive. Scalebound was the OH s*** game for 2017 on Xbox brand. Nothing else really standsout.

The majority of gamers? Do you have the results?

Because my report from The League of Extraordinary Gamers says the majority of japanese shovelware and remasters arent counted either.

So lets be objective.

Objectively you can play more games on Xbox One both digital and retail or combined.

Unpressive? Yes the lineup is slightly smaller because believe it or not Microsoft released more games in the last 6 months then Sony did. That is what happens when you get games out on time.

Negative. No-one knows what the standout xbox game is for 2017 because we dont have the entire lineup yet (especially with Next gen announcements being held until E3).

This last year, the highest rated MS game was announced in 2016. For Sony, it was 2013.

Just like we don't know what the outstanding PS4 game will be for 2017....because the odds of Sony giving us accurate release date and keeping them is miniscule.

Scalebound looked terrible. That's my opinion though. I mean it sucks losing games but this or Fable, at least to me, are not misses.

I think people are focusing on the wrong thing here. On one hand, you have to commend MS for shutting a project down rather than release a mess. If they didn't release review copies early, they could sell a couple million copies on hype, pre-orders and first day sales alone.

My concern with MS isn't that they canceled a game in production hell. People didn't freak out when Too Human and 99 Knights bombed last gen. That's because MS had more than their fair share of wins. MS has struggled this gen establishing new IPs and this was just one more check against them. Hopefully the rest of 2017 produces results and restores faith.

That and the Hate that goes above their heads.

That's an opinion. Just like mine is that Scalebound was never impressive.

Many gamers in general are upset with line up. wich is why see an uproar th community.

Why would you yourself include BC as new releases?. That doesn't make any sense tbh.. The fact you are including BC shows it's lacking. Ofcourse Remsters don't count they fall in the BC category. Also why would you not include japanese games other than bias and stupidity?

You do realise Sony had more releases than Microsoft last year even with delays?

That's the problem. We shouldn't hafto wait so long just to know what games are coming out this year for X1.

You do realise Uncharted 4 is the highest rated exclusive in 2016?

Not really. We knew about Sony line up since December 1 2016 for this year. .

It's not just MS. New IPs have struggled this gen.

The internet crowd always asking for new stuff...

1. Don't speak for most gamers who are happy to just buy Fifa, COD and so on each year

2. Don't buy the new games themselves because...reasons!

To me, those Scalebound preview vids looked cheesy, no skin off my back. Never the less, a game like Scalebound is a good example of what's wrong with the industry.

Console makers and devs themselves like to promote games way far out. Everyone knows they do this to drum up interest and preorder sales, but if gamers didn't gush over a game that looks like won't be released for ages, they'd stop doing it and simply promote games coming soon that are far enough into development that it's basically 99% it will launch.

Bethesda does this. They say hardly anything about Doom, Dishonored and their RPGs until maybe 12 months or less. Some games they say basically nothing until E3 of that year and then the game comes out in November. So if they can keep quiet, why can't others? I don't think Bethesda has ever promoted a game 4 years out.

And the farther out a game is from launch, the higher chance it has of being canned or heavily changed because development may have just begun so who knows what will happen.

Name one other industry where the companies drum up hype for products 4 years before it actually launches.

Well if you want a JRPG that you know will be done right all you have to do is pick up a Switch this year. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 got announced.

Or as PS4. I hear Persona 5 is looking good.

Plenty of new IPs have done well. Even Nintendo managed to launch one.

Microsoft has to do better. And they know this.

But uproar?

It adds to the drama to say words like uproar or dire straits or losing 10 MILLION prospective consumers....
I'm still waiting for words like Armageddon, apocalypse -- phrases like, the Red Coats are coming, the Rapture has begun, do you think Microsoft headquarters is actually ground zero for hell? And my personal favorite, "MS is gonna drop out of the console race and create Angry Bird versions of Gears, Halo and Forza".

Wasn't this more of an action game than rpg? Like DMC and Monster Hunters had a baby.

Nope. Well not according PG who said it was a full on RPG....Take the dragon for example, you could customise the s*** out of it from general skins to changing breath type and body dimensions. As well as adding armour and weapons to help it deal more damage, like spiked tail armour.

The game was non-linear, had an economy, NPCs, loot, exploration, customisation...pretty much everything you would expect to find in a Fallout or Dark Souls.

The only thing I haven;t seen or heard about was character building skill points or Skills being upgraded by specific actions, etc.

Looked forward to the game personally. It was one of the reasons I switched to XB1 from PS4. At the end of the day though still plenty of great games to play coming out and plenty I have already played. So a minor disappointment for me.

Lol what? What uproar? Its identical to last year and the year before. Sonys output drops to zero around June (because their holiday games finally release) and MS cranks theirs up to max around August.

What happened to a game is a game is a game? Or indies count too. As predicted, now MS has pulled ahead in releases and overall librasry, they suddenly don't count. I called this a year ago. Cease your incessant flipflopping and stick to your guns.

Japanese games don't count for whatever reason you say BC games don't count. They're old (they were released in 2015 and are simply just localised) of that they're on Vita/PS3 too.

Being objective, the way things are going the PS4s library will be behind by 400 hundred games by the end of this year. Talk about squandering their inroads with indies/remasters/first party.

You wait 3 years for Sonys game but 5 months for a MS game is too long.

Uncharted 4 isn't exclusive, Sony released it and every other game on their new console this November! Sounds to me like you're including backwards compatible games too! In which case I raise you a Red Dead Redemption and Mass Effect 2.

Exclusive means one platform only. Uncharted 4 is on two..so far. Its not even console exclusive.

McMasters is right, when Sony and Nintendo unveiled their new console and new games to go with, doesnt excuse for their poor output in the last 12 months. In the very least MS should be allowed to present theirs at E3. The difference between Nintendos lineup last night is immense.

But hey we know the whole used game/Xbox live is broken/ weak hardware / price/ where's the indies s*** ain't gonna fly this time around is it? Need to find something else to critique.

OK, can you tell me in order of release which games are with 100% certainty going to be on PS4 this year and if they are delayed for any reason you cede the point.

MS with their game cancellation.

Sony with their studio closure, firing lots of people and all...

Perfectly timed to get overshadowed by Nintendo news. Those sly smug f***s.

The uproar you guys are Damage Controling...lol

360 games are not Xbox 1 games no matter how you spin it..There is NO reason to not include japaneses games other than bias. You ar assuming every Japanese title is a Ps3/Vita game wich is incorrect.

Riiight by that logic PC has no exclusives. Sounds to me like a cheap way to downplay Sony exclusives but whatever makes you sleep at night.. Mass Effect and Red Dead are LAST GEN games they don't count in my book..

Sony had more releases than Microsoft last year. You are delusional... Poor preformance? That's opinion.

What are you on about? Crackdown 3, Halo Wars 2, Sea of Theives, Cuphead, Fable Legends and Scalebound were alll suppose to come last year. Outside a few titles none of these are guranteed this year on either platform.

At this point you are just rambling... LOL

I was thinking the exact same thing. Now instead of Scalebound and Guerilla on front page news, it's now all about Nintendo Switch.

I think MS actually did it a week or so ago and waited for the news to come out.

With Sony, judging by some of the employees twitter, it looks like they literally found out and it was announced that day.

I mean, I guess if those things were going to happen regardless, they couldn't have picked a better time. The Nintendo stuff is going to be clamoring up until March, Sony has a slew of titles coming out soon and MS is ducking their head under a pillow and then it's time to start hyping up e3.

BC has always been a bonus since the Ps2 era. You Xbox gamers including them as new releases is just sad.

They're games that weren't on the console before. They aren't Xbox 360 executables either so the aren't 360 games. They're remastered to run better then the Xbox 360 versions and support crossbuy and modern UI features like streaming.

Sounds quite familiar! Would it make a difference if MS charged you for each one again? Cos I'm kinda glad they don't...but if you do you can still do that! It also means my Games with Gold has twice as much value.

At the end of the day little jimmy has to decide what he values more, to play the mass effect trilogy or Black Ops or Skate or Burnout Paradise or Rage or does he want to play next gen console exclusives like Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls.

It might not cater 100% to the tune of new releases...but I believe people buy consoles based on the existing and forthcoming library. If the new additions are not upcoming games, that that kinda makes the library and market place increasing by a few hundred games a year quite mysterious.

Or maybe its just cos MS said there are no more generations and the Xbox 360 never stopped and Xbox One is just Xbox 360 Pro!

If BC didn't denote significant value, why would Sony devalue the PS4 just to give the Pro a boost?

Is it really that simple?

Neither of these consoles launched with BC, right? I'd say it went from being a bonus to a commodity.

As a consumer, what is the difference between a "normal" remaster, a port and backwards compatible release? I think it's just scemantics.

If I'm on Steam and let's say Nightdive studios resurrects an old game, making it compatible again and put it up for sale.. is it a new release? How would you look at the title? I'd say the fact that it's available, compatible and now has better functionality is a good thing and worth mentioning. Would you say, "that is an old windows game, shut up about it? "

All i know is that when a BC title pops up on my Xbox One, it's treated no different than a new release.. you aren't playing off the disc naively, you have downloaded a modified version of the game, it has new added features by default that you couldn't do on older hardware, it generally runs better, looks smoother, has no screen tearing etc etc.. does the fact that the title was released on 360 matter? If the put it on an Xbox One disc and had you walk into a store and buy it, would that change things?

To me it doesn't. Especially so if I've never played the game. To Xbox consumers, theiy are simply "more Xbox games" we can buy.

Sad?
