It's a game, you just can't buy it or play it yet. But I'll give it the independent film of the year award if I get a vote.
Apparently this game will be available to purchase early digitally on the 11th.

Can someone explain the hype around this game to me please?
All I've seen are videos of choppy gameplay where people wonder around aimlessly trying to find a weapon that doesn't suck.
Why would I pay $30 to play a pre-alpha a of a game that wont be finished for another year? Are Xbots really this desperate for console exclusives?

The intensity of gunfights in this game are unmatched by any other game out there. I know that sounds like a marketing phrase but it's actually true. Your heart will literally start racing when you get the the final 10. It's insanity.
Pay 23.99 if you got a GCU at bestbuy, the game box states there’s a “digital code inside”...do correct me if I’m wrong but upon official release don’t they go higher/full price?
Did you try fortnite battle royal? It’s close enough to this if you want to see what it’s like.
I haven't played it myself, but have watched hours upon hours on Twitch.
You can also squad up in teams of 2. Not sure if there are other options.
Depends on what you want to do.
You can go it alone, you can go into it with a single partner or you can get a four-person squad together.
Each one of those player choices has a completely separate queue/server, so if you're doing solo, everyone is solo, so on and so forth. If you're a crazed lone-wolf, you can still join the Duo/Squad servers on your own, but once you are downed, it's game over; on the other hand if you have a partner you get a chance to be revived.
Like people have said, give Fortnite a try, it has the exact same set-up, it's just streamlined.
If it's anything like the PC version, it's going to be a very playable early access with nothing but refinements going forward. Content aside, Xbox One version will be starting with the playability level of the 1.0 PC version, which should be great. Xbox gamers will never know the struggle of not being able to jump over small fence and getting shot in the back as they jump around like morons trying to clear it.

The game looks like it takes learning the map to a whole another level. It’s pretty cool the release of one map is so celebrated. They are huge. I have never played anything like that.
I ran into this game once watching a friend play on Twitch and it memorized me for a couple hours. That was about 6 months ago. Haven't seen it since but it left an impression so I went in and pre-ordered a copy. I will likely being playing the role of cannon fodder 1st-to-die but even that looks like it will be some fun.
If we can play in a Union VGF room I would think that would be the balls. Maybe someone could create a thread for us to have some kill nights together. I can help with your stats so keep me posted!
