PS4 Pro Discussion

Never had that issue with the 4 ps4's or the 2 pro's I purchased.
Wouldn't matter to me regardless.

When putting my ears close to the consoles the little noise I do hear is less with the pro's.

My pro is maybe a tiny, tiny bit louder than my launch X1 but not much. I would not call it loud at all. The loudest part is the disk drive spinning.

I don't even hear my PS4 Pro. Likewise my stock launch PS4 was equally quiet.

Quiet compared to what? It's as loud as my PC when gaming. Compare to the ONE S it is very loud.
From my research there are more complaints about loud PS4s than not. There are many articles and forums covering this. Even Kotaku confirmed it on the Pro. Though I don't know why others are lucky enough to have no fan noise unless their fan is broke.

Quiet meaning I don't even hear it while I'm playing, I'm sure if I got down on my hands and knees and put my ear up to it in the entertainment center I'd hear something but sitting just a few feet away I hear nothing at all.

That's weird. Mine is almost at arms reach and the only thing I hear is the "wheee" of the disk spinning up if I leave one in there (damn physical media). Although my wife says I'm going deaf so who knows. If I stick my head in back I'm sure I'd hear the fans.

Mine is quiet enough for me not to be bothered at the moment.

I can hear it, but it's pretty damned low. Not quite XBO quiet, but quiet to the point where this is probably the only time you'll see me mentioning it.

I haven't played UC4, Infamous or BF1 on there though, games that people often mention when they hear it get loud.

As for why some people hear have loud ones and others don't; that's just down to build quality. Throughout the years, I've seen many cases where people take apart their PS4's, only to find there wasn't adequate thermal paste applied and replacing it helped overall system noise. That's down to luck of the draw I guess.

I imagine it's widely dependent on where people place them as well. If you have it in a corner or cabinet that's going to project a sound towards you, it's your own fault.

Build quality on all of these types of devices can be a mixed bag.
Thankfully this gen hasn't seen stuff like last gens RROD and the YLOD.

These PSN sales are a f***ing joke for someone looking to buy exclusives. From Black Friday until today, jack s***.. well, Until Dawn, but ehhh. Meh.

No, lol. Never heard a PS4 get loud before. I've been around 3-4 of them. Two of them my own. Maybe the Pro is a different animal with all that horsepower under the hood but the PS4 and especially the PS4 slim are quiet.

I have just recently noticed my PS4 being loud, but that was because nothing else was on. My wife fired it up and it took a moment for me to notice the sound was from the PS4, lol. really loud Humming and s***...

Lol no.

I have a launch ps4 and its loud under a gaming load. My buddys is also loud, i can often times hear his ps4 through his headset in party chat.

Both my OG XB1 and One S are extremely quiet under gaming load.

Never really had interest in a Pro since I'm back to mostly being PC, but with Nioh and Nier coming out soon I'm kind of thinking about the upgrade now. Don't have a 4k TV yet but thinking even getting a solid 1080p/60 out of both games vs lower fps or resolution might be worth it if I can sell my PS4.

Nier is on PC as well.
