Raid Stories

Nice, how long has the raid taken you thus far?

I'm up to lvl 22 now but I'm trying to figure out if this is even worth it. I'm usually lucky if I'm able to play a video game for 5 hours a week.
I can only take a guess as to how much time we have spent thus far. Probably around 11-12 hours, and that's with consulting the internet for help. We are currently on the final boss.

The section after the Templar is reason enough to do the Raid imo. To my knowledge there is no 6 player co op stealth gameplay in existence beside Destiny. It is interesting how the people youre playing with handle the nerve wracking design of this section. This section isn't overly long, thats depending on if you already know where to go. I loved it. I mean its one thing for a single player to succeed at avoid being detected, its a whole other ball game for 6 to be successful.

I'd love to do the raid, but I just don't have the time to fit 12 hours of gaming in in a week unfortunately. Wish they would expand the limit to 2 weeks or a month.

what has been the loot so far.

I heard it has been beaten in 2 hours. I don't think that 12 hour number is going to be represent everyone as we go forward and people figure it out.

No raid stories here until they implement matchmaking :( 3 is easy to get a group for, 6 not so much.

It goes much, much faster once you understand what needs to happen in each section. We didn't know what we had to do in each section. We just played it til we figured it out. You could play as far as you can until you understand each section. Or you could just get a person or two that's finished the raid explain each section to your fireteam.

what has been the loot so far.
So far I have only gotten Ascendant materials. One guy in our group got a set of gauntlets that does bonus damage to the Praetorian.

I heard it has been beaten in 2 hours.
Definitely doable if everyone is high enough level, geared up, and understands the mechanics of each section

Well, I used to go "Party Only" but I'm now softening on that in favor of trying to have better communication outside my playing buddies as it's only usually 2 or 3 of us (remember the good 'ol days of Xbox Live when folks were generally cool and polite?). I'm giving that a go anyway and will party up only when necessary. At one point, I had everybody on mute by default BUT my friends list ...yes, they actually had that option and you had to set it through Xbox.com....it was a permanent party mode! That was the height of the CoD dayz when the d*cks were out in full force. As much as I really like CoD, it is really hard not to party up in that game.....holy hell.

As to Raids, it comes off as if they're only for an exclusive club. How many folks that play Destiny are going to bother getting up to the level requirement (past the cap) and finding 6 "friends" to partner up with to boot? The barrier to entry is pretty high and IMO, should have zero bearing on Destiny's final score from a review perspective. IMO, I think the game should be reviewed on what you can play off he disk from day 1. Next, we'll say we can't rate it until after the 2 DLC packs come out. I think it's a cool concept and I'm not against it per se....I mean rolling out new content like the Raids keeps the excitement for the game high and frankly the more the better without paying....but lower the barrier of entry please. Why not release them with difficulty levels (Normal - Level 15 and up; Hard - Level 20 and up, Insane - Level 25 and up). Does that cheapen the experience? I really want to know what folks think about that.
I agree. Basically if you don't dedicate all your time to the game, you should just stop playing after 20. the idea that your level is based off of random equipment drops is absurd. No matter how skilled I get, it doesn't matter. I don't have the time to even level any more, really. Not unless I get really lucky.
So I Don't get to participate in a big part of the game, and its not like I haven't spent a lot of time on it already. Level 26? Bullls***.

I would love to do a raid, but I still can't get past level 23...my only 2 purple engrams have turned out to be rare and the two pieces of legendary armor I have gotten have turned out to be for other classes. Bungie needs to do something to fix this loot system, I'm coming close to giving up, I don't have the time to grind and grind and grind for hours every day just to have a chance at getting an item that may level me up.

Well it doesn't have to be random. The best way to level up is to rank up rep in the factions/vanguard/crucible. It isn't extremely fast but it can be done at whatever pace you want. Obviously the loot system is extremely flawed but people wanting everything overnight is just making the process slower.

QFT, I just take it easy with the time I have and go pick up bounties still and finish them. I can't dedicate that much time straight to a raid. I was lvl23 for what seems forever also and then bam in a few bounties I get gifts in the mail @ the tower...

Tried the raid on hard. No trouble with getting the door open. But when we got to the confluxes in the second part s*** got real fast. There were no revives allowed, and probably 90% of the baddies were majors(yellow health bar). Ive concluded that it will take a team of 30s to beat it on hard. So until then, its normal difficulty for me.

The team I saw beat it on hard only had one level 30, couple 29's and two 28's. But they used various places where the boss and others couldn't really hit them for the second area.

the conflux part is probably the hardest part.

Finally beat the raid!

Albeit on normal... got Atheon's Epilogue (legendary auto rifle) and heard from the team members who were playing with me that it's a sick gun so I guess I'm happy.

congrats, now you can bang your head on hard.

Was helping some guys with the raid last night, and learned the easy way to kill the Templar. Shouldn't be trouble on hard now.

Also, just beat the Nightfall for this week. We found a place we could get that we could deal a lot of damage without taking much ourselves.

Got through the raid for the third time last night with a complete bunch of strangers found using the Destinylfg page. Finished in a touch over an hour and could have done it faster, all I got was ascendant materials though lol.

Was that the spot under the platform? I solo'd it that way :D

Beat the new nightfall mission yesterday as well as the new weekly and daily mission then finished the night off with beating the vault of glass from start to finish and getting the last piece of raid armor I needed. Hit level 29 and now will be able to hit level thirty since I have all of the correct armor. Got to say it was a productive evening. Lol
