Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart

Curious to see load times differences here on PC on HDD, then a SSD, then same SSD on the PS5. DF, Nxgamer or VGTech, make it happen!
Same, I already preordered the game through cdkeys, even tho I have it on PS5 (I never finished it though)

I just like colorful games and this has it in spades. I was waiting on a substantial sale for the ps5 version cause I like the haptics and adaptive triggers on the dualsense but Sony games this gen seem like Nintendo titles, evergreen in price. I bet the PC version sees a sale after the 1st month. Or I pull an Evo7 and pick it up from cdkeys or gmg.

There's nothing literally illegit about getting games on cdkeys. 0 reason not to unless it cheaper somewhere else. Ratchet was like 43 bucks on cdkeys when I preordered it for PC.

I've been playing Hi Fi rush. An hour here and there. The protagonist hasn't grown on me at all but everything else is great.
Nice. I assumed you hadn’t cuz I don’t recall you posting in the thread. The colors are pretty sweet. So are the colors in Ghost of Tsushima.

"But but it runs on non SSDs, SD cards..."

RIP Xbots 😆

So Insomniac was right about the game running as intended using the SSDs even with people trying to create narratives.

They were testing the HDD with the lowest settings. I can't even begin to imagine how sluggish it is with the highest settings.

Game runs on HDD on PC. LOL Ponies. Lies confirmed.

Good value for $399 Digital Version if you just want all digital library and save a $100

All of which leads us onto one of the more inane discussion points we've seen: the fact that the game runs on slower machines with no SSD when Insomniac claimed that the SSD was essential for the game they'd created. First of all, the difference between the console experience and the 'very low' setting is frankly immense in terms of data transfer. Secondly, the comment was likely made in relation to the other development platform available to them, the PlayStation 4. In the video you'll witness the carnage of what happens when you try to run Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart on a launch PS4 512GB HDD - even the very low setting doesn't work and the game eventually crashes. The point is that to make the game work across as many PCs as possible, Nixxes did what Insomniac did not need to: necessarily, they scaled the game by introducing quality presets and in common with Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered, that includes increasing fidelity for higher-end systems and reducing it where needed.

For example, on a mainstream Ryzen 5 3600 system with an RTX 2070 Super (or go-to system for console comparisons), the main menu runs at sub-60fps. Storage-heavy transfers can cause performance problems that see CPU and GPU under-utilised - even when using a 3.5GB/s NVMe drive.

Right now, the portal transition process does indeed complete more quickly on PlayStation 5 than it does on the most high-end PC around.

Important to note that John used a PC with 8gb of RAM when using the PS4 HDD, and said it was the RAM that was the biggest culprit. When he went with a 7200 RPM HDD on his 12900K PC with....64gb of RAM, his experience was much better.

Yes that's the difference between using minimum spec and recommended / high PC specs.

Rich used the minimum specs and on the lowest settings.

My main video coming on friday is pretty no non-sense. I say it feels unfinished and unpolished within the first few mins there. Sony pushing it out the door too early. Nixxes are very talented and know how to do good things, so many things not right at launch tells me the time table was bad.

Nobody said otherwise. Glad to see it's been confirmed that the game isn't only possible on the PS5 and an SSD.

People just making something out of nothing. Insomniac never said that game was only possible with just the PS5. Insomniac said the PS5's SSD (in relation to PS4) was essential for the gaming experience they intended. Tests show the same 🤷‍♂️
