xbox is back in front on amazon.

I got an e-mail where they said they are giving away Wolfenstein and 2nd Xbox One controller with the Assassin's Creed Bundle so 3 games + extra controller for $349. Good deal.

Only three home consoles have ever reached at least 100 million in lifetime sales - PS1, PS2 and Wii.

The PS4 will be the next one on that very short list.

Well, in five years or so.

I cant be arsed to type out a full response, use your grey material and do your own research. You will understand why the PS2 was an anomaly.
Well I'm glad that settles that. I was worried I would get an explanation.

Holy s*** MS is desperate. The perceived value gap is bigger than anyone thought at this point.

Holy s***, Sony is desperate. They are bundling The Last of US, the PS4 consoles and Playtation TV all for $399. Holy f*** me sideways. That's some f***ed up s***.

Ouch!

Talk about a dead product. PS TV was $100, then $80, now a freebie? Games are usually thrown in as the cost of goods is negligible (cost of pressing a disc). But hardware is typically not. PS TV just came out 3-4 months ago!

Looks like Sony's dream of milking revenue from PS3 streaming is DOA. But one last attempt buy giving it away before PS TV shuts down a year from now.

Other attempts at cash grabs were PSP Go, that PS LCD TV and Sony Move. All DOA.

Who's going to pay $80-100 for PS TV and then another $45 per quarter ($180/yr) to stream PS3 games? Hardly anyone.

The Xbox One still has better value with 3 games and an extra controller. Also $50 cheaper.
Yup.

But based on these deals we can pretty much assume these companies are desperate and are likely to close up shop by year end. Sad.

Here I come PC and Ouya.

Need to maintain that lead in the US I suppose since MS started the price wars first.

Actually, Sony started the price war first by selling PS4 for $100 cheaper than X1's $500 ticket despite PS4 having better specs.

MS is just following suit by selling bundles at a lower price than PS4's bundles.... which now have an $80 piece of hardware thrown in (PS TV). Since X1 has worse specs, it makes sense X1 should be cheaper.

Sony tossing in hardware freebies is unusual and a sign of aggressive marketing to better the value of PS4 bundles as well as give a lifeline to PS TV.

No. PS4 was making a profit since launch. Xbox One also, it's just they included that expensive Kinect in the first sku.

The gap is shrinking!

PS4 Bundle - One pack in game plus PS TV for $399.
XBO Bundle - Three pack in games plus an additional controller for $349.

MS is clearly more desperate. Good for gamers who want to buy an Xbox One. Bad for gamers who spent $499 during the systems first nine months on the market.

OMG! I can see them crying themselves to sleep tonight from fear of the quad!!
LOL.

MS makes about $25 billion profit per year. I think they can absorb any costs associated with high value X1 promotions for extended time periods unlike some companies out there who seem to be in constant scramble mode firesaling everything they have, but the kitchen sink.

With about 12 million X1s out there, MS could have given every person a free $500 system and it would only cost them $6 billion. That's the same amount of profit they make every 3 months.

If these were permanent bundles available at every retailer this might be a worthwhile discussion. Every time some website or store has a weekly deal its going to be a sign of desperation?

LOL. MS isn't the one giving away a piece of hardware that came out 3-4 months ago which was originally $100, then immediately slashed to $80.... now a free toss in.

When was the last time you saw Apple, Google, Roku or any of those media player hubs being free?

But no worries. Sony will make back the money 10-fold by selling PS3 game streams for $45/quarter ($180/yr) to the millions of gamers out there. lol

And if that is too rich, I'm sure they can get a Sony fan to pay $30 for a 30 day rental of Saints Row. A game that can be ouright bought for $10-15.

I think MS can afford to lose more upfront. Its a bit odd to call MS desperate. Losing a few more dollars per console is a joke to them, they are a corporate monster compared to sony. They know they'll make it back on software, and even if they don't, they are still way ahead of sony overall.

MS's bundles seem to have made Sony quiver. Tossing in PS TV for free. But it can be a move that will pay off in the long run assuming any gamer getting that bundle will pay $180/yr to stream PS3 games.

For the same price (with some XB/PS deals), you could get XB Gold, PS+ and Netflix.

Fixed it for you...

Now then cut out the bulls*** MS is wearing a diaper it is all over for them. Dump all your stock tonight before it is too late. Word around the breaking news campfire is Isis has stolen a shipment of Quads to string together in parallel. Only someone like Liam Neeson with a special set of skills or a young Sean Penn/Rob Schneider could save us now.

Sony is the one with all to lose here, every inch MS gains is huge for sony. Sony already admitted the PS brand is their new frontrunner of the company, it has to be now. For MS, Xbox one could completely dominate PS4 and still the console wouldn't be their bread and butter, they are truly a corporate giant unlike sony and they could survive without xbox easily.

Why would that pay off when you don't need the PS TV for that?
