Shadow of the Tomb Raider

I think I’m in the minority but I loved the first way more than the sequel. The island was a more interesting setting, the story was better, and I preferred the linearity of the first game to the scattered semi open world collectathon in the second game.

That is a pretty common opinion, from what I've heard. I loved the first game, but I've had trouble getting invested in the sequel. I need to give it another try sometime.

Really? Hope so! Then it would be more likely the devs made some changes instead of just expanding on the sequel.

Well, I mean, it's a common opinion among the types of people who inhabit Resetera -- I've heard it plenty -- but that doesn't necessarily influence developers. I believe the reviews for the sequel were pretty good and it sold pretty well, so the developers might not want to change anything.

I stopped watching after seeing it wasn't in game footage or gameplay.

Yeah. I was like holy s***, Sony isn't the only company who does all CGI hype trailer things or whatever. Let me know when we get some real gameplay footage.

This is on PS4 and Xbox One at launch right? Don't think Microsoft would want to take another L on it being a timed exclusive.

It's getting a simultaneous release this time.

ROTR was a timed exclusive on Xbox One....

Worst cover box ever.
How is the box art bad. Curious to know.

Personally, I think it looks great. I explain why. It gives enough information to suggest things like location (Mayan), theme (eclipse) which suggest Mayan events of apocalypse, Jungle & lara on top, suggesting climbing & hidding in trees may be a theme. Also the nasty looking knife suggested close combat. All while not in your face obvious.

Good read from Eidos Montreal boss David Anfossi who goes on to talk about budgets, trends and the state of narrative driven games.

I am at work, lunch break, so I type something short, until I get home.

I think many companies failed to see or realise that the average gamer is getting older & have NOT design games for older audience that has far LESS Time. A lot of success of MP games are also due to short duration per session. If I have 30mins, I can pop in and play LOL or Overwatch, but not a single player with checkpoint spread 30mins more apart. I talked with a friend, & he said He like Zelda but hated to checkpoint, & having to restart after a failure to paly the same session over & over again.

People who design Single player games need to be more liberals (less far apart) with their checkpoint /save file. Better, just let us save when we wanted it. I have liek 30mins a night for gaming, & that resist me from playing God of war.

There was a place holder cover art box there when I said that (I was just joking because I knew it was just a fake black cover box that had Tomb Raider just written in white font on the box and nothing else). They have since replaced it with the real cover box.

I see. Thanks for the Info.

This might be the best looking game I have seen so far. I am so excited about getting this game, and so close to my birthday.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider raises the bar.

Recently, Square Enix unveiled Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the conclusion to Lara Croft's origin story. In the game, Lara must master a deadly jungle, overcome terrifying tombs, and persevere through her darkest hour. According to the company, as she races to save the world from a Mayan apocalypse, Lara will ultimately be forged into the Tomb Raider she is destined to be.

Today, extended footage surfaced online. The Xbox One X gameplay showcases a small city packed with indigenous people who appear to be cut off from the rest of the world. As Lara explores the marketplace, she sees numerous civilians tending to various tasks. The first two games in the Tomb Raider reboot were very isolated experiences. Shadow of the Tomb Raider feels much more alive as a result of this.

The environments are also much more interactive this time around. Unlike Rise of the Tomb Raider, you can climb trees and do so much more. The visuals are also better, but should be seen as a refinement over the prequel rather than a significant leap. The textures seem to be the highlight of the upgrade.

Hard to imagine the game looking better. It is already awesome looking (Rise of the Tomb Raider).

Two days early access when you get Digital Deluxe, as well as an outfit and original soundtrack.

Rise of the Tomb Raider Anniversary was 88% on meta. Gonna go with 90 on this one.

Graphically it looks very nice, that running animation is awful though, it reminds me of when one of my nieces was a very little girl and hopped as she ran.
