As cool as that sounds I feel like it won’t happen, they’d have a competing store, like if GamePass were a thing on other platforms they’d be competing against their respective services like ps+ and Nintendo Online. It’s make more sense for the portable device, but who knows, maybe you’d have to do it through the dev mode, so if something were to go wrong it’d be on you instead.
Yes, but a few things that it would do:

- Ensure that all games come to Xbox if Playstation puts everything on PC. Nintendo first party would probably be the only thing they miss out on.

- The exclusive is still GamePass. There is no competing service to this as of right now on PC (not really).

- All Xbox first party sales still bring in at minimum 70% per sale on Steam/Nintendo/Playstation, or 100% of revenue per sale if they buy through the Xbox ecosystem

- If all Xbox purchases also give you Cloud access instantly, that could be a major differentiator as technology improves

- If you are already ingrained in the Xbox ecosystem, then you probably aren't going to just shift to Steam. If you were already firmly entrenched in Steam then there was a good chance they were going to lose that sale anyway.

Sony might have an issue with that. Cos they already block out PlayStation games on stream to be streamed to an Xbox device.

That's assuming it's only a streaming option. If it's truly a PC at its core with Xbox functionality on top, it could download via Steam and install like a regular PC.

I guess , but aren’t all consoles just pcs with a derivative of either windows or Linux ?
Yes, but you can't just download any Windows app or program on the Xbox. It isn't true Windows. This would have to be a true PC running actual Windows with just some sort of GUI on top to make it feel like a console.

I heard this from a guy as he was placing his order at McDonalds two cars ahead of mine, so this is verified.

The rumor is the next Xbox console is a PC hybrid in the sense that you can access Steam, Xbox, etc. all in one console. If Playstation goes to PC day and date then by default it also goes to Xbox. It's basically an Xbox/Steam Machine. Who knows if there is any truth to it.
Unlikely.

There's a rumour the next Xbox is like picking and choosing different PC parts to put together. So basically they are shifting from console to PC because they see how much more PC players are willing to spend on games these days plus they still have their Xbox loyalists on Gamepass and they are hoping to entice some Steam owners to also get into their ecosystem. With COD day 1 and future Bethesda and Zenimax titles going also on the service day 1, could be an attractive option . Hopefully they don't start raising the prices too high now. We already know they will be but how much is the big question.

They're not Sony, so hopefully they'll listen to their customers.

Yeah like how I know tons of Xbox fans have been voicing out their desire to port out their exclusives /s

MS is a business at the end of the day, they will do what is good for the company. We are all just here along for the ride.

They wouldn't. Playstation would exclude Steam. Why do you think PS5 has no web browser.

Nice, Dried already back to his BS in the XB section…

The beginning of the end of Xbox.
I hate to agree on this, but the writing is on the wall.

Xbox was able to limp on after making all their games release on PC, but this is the true turning point.

There's a potential evil side to MS's strategy I could see being exploited to undermine Sony's first party titles as they release, but it's clear Microsoft doesn't care about the Xbox consoles at this point. Many within Microsoft never did.
