This is going to be a wait and see approach from MS. Basically seeing how the sales will be like and there probably is more coming down the pipeline otherwise Phil could have just tweeted these four titles out. The fact they are still hiding the title names are confusing af. Makes me think they were not going to announce this until closer to Spring update but it was legit leaked by someone who clearly had internal and inside knowledge of these plans.

My guess is live service games , smaller AA games and multiplatform AAA games from Zenimax and Bethesda who were always benefiting from that extra revenue will continue to be ported to other systems.

Not just sales but engagement. But what if the more that follow are just follow ups or sequels of said ports? It may make more sense to keep said titles updated because of their userbase

He did say that the event was meant to happen later, probably at GDC in San Francisco, the LA one is in June.

As to why he didn’t mention what games and what platforms they’re gonna release on was kinda sus but then he mentioned it’s the devs are gonna make said announcements. My guess is there’s some advertising deals, or the announcement(s) have been scheduled.

Guessing, again, it might be something with Nintendo, maybe first, seeing as their next direct is a partner direct. Which is weird we haven’t seen any rumor/leaks/speculation of a Sony partner direct as well.

Who knows where all four games will appear. All four could be going to the two, or some other ratio, maybe more favoring one over the other. All we know is that two are smaller games and two are community driven games.

What if the former two are not Pentiment and HiFi Rush? What if they’re ori, for ps5, and psychonauts 2 for switch?

I doubt it’ll be their big tent pole titles, especially things like halo or forza. And definitely Sony wouldn’t allow mp only games if the game included sp campaigns, definitely not abk games getting split cos of parity and their uk agreement

Tbh I think Hifi Rush would be a good game for Playstation/Switch for the anime weebs population which both have a ton of considering how many JRPGs are on the PS and the Switch has their own Japanese giant IPs. Look how well Granblue Fantasy Relink, FF7 remake IP is doing thus far for the PS5 and also Stellar Blade, Rise of the Ronin are anticipated titles browsing around the web.

Pentiment is meh, good chill game I suppose but probably more a niche title.

Ori would also be good for the PS as you suggested and Psychonauts 2 also for the Switch. I agree, I don't see the tentpole like Halo , Forza, Gears, Crackdown going anytime soon.

Perhaps they might change their minds for the Elder Scrolls 6 exclusivity, along with Indiana Jones and Blade i.e. 6 months exclusivity or similar then port for that extra revenue. Or just do day and date? But on Gamepass Day 1.
