The leader of Finland denied on Sunday that he’d ever told President Donald Trump that the small Nordic nation relies upon “raking” its forests to prevent wildfires — even though Trump promoted the dubious conservation method during a visit to flame-ravaged California over the weekend.

I really hope Dems don't push for Kamala Harris to be our nominee, for someone who's supposedly thinking about running for President she should be smarter than to say that some people perceive ICE to be like the KKK, that's the kind of stupid crap that will energize the other side. I was pissed when I first heard the talk because I knew anyone who didn't support her was going to be called sexist and racist but this just makes things worse.

Well they are going to be energized no matter what

She is way better than Bernie

She will turn so many people off, watching her ask questions just makes it look like she thinks her time is being wasted. I know that's not what she's trying to convey but that's how many are going to see it. If she's the nominee Trump gets re-elected, yeah some people who like moral victories to go along with losing will feel good about themselves but I want to win and get him out, Bernie would have a much better shot. She is only the nominee if you believe in checking off boxes before viability and I hate that mentality, you don't go in with the idea that it has to be a woman or a person of color and then go from there you go in thinking "who can win" and then choose from that field. BTW a person of color or a woman could win if they had the charisma and the energy to get more than hardcore democrats to vote, she's not that person.

She will be a disaster candidate. Hillary got more votes than she will ever get. Her showing at the kavanaugh hearings fell flat on her face. She acted like she had the goods, but didn't deliver anything. She's great at playing the condescending foil during hearings, but I don't see her as president material. I guess I can see her as possibly as VP material, but I'd pick others over her first.

Jesus Christ, how the hell could they pick Tim Kaine??!!!?!? I'm still boggled at that. I guess it's because Hillary wanted all the spotlight.

This is good. Though I dont think it was all trump the tax cuts for the rich and the attempt to kill the ACA probably got people engaged as well.

Well rejecting her because you think that is the reason she would get votes isn't really anything great either

I still want Biden and honestly I have no idea what she would be like on a national stage as a candidate. I don't necessarily think the midterms results would really make me think she is the perfect choice either although it certainly wouldn't be Bernie based on that same thing. 2016 Bernie was not great. People weirdly want to pretend he ran some perfect campaign but it was rigged and that is why he lost.

The question you need to ask is if Bernie, Biden, and Beto don't run then what? Who is it going to be? Who should it be?

Playing safe at VP is what everyone not named John McCain does. They thought they had it in the bag.

One of them will. No way all three forgo it. I'm still leaning thinking it will be a Biden/Beto ticket.

Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), a freshman representative belonging to the progressive faction of the House delegation, said Monday that she currently backs Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for speaker, since Pelosi is the “most progressive candidate” running.

“Right now, out of the field, I would say that she is the most progressive candidate,” Ocasio-Cortez said on her Instagram Live where she often takes questions from constituents. “All of the rebellion for the speakership are challenges to her right, and so I think it’s important to communicate that.”

“My standard in this is: I’m going to support the most progressive candidate that’s leading the party and right now that is Nancy Pelosi, in terms of running,” she continued. “I would like to see new, younger leadership, but I don’t want new leadership that’s more conservative.”

The ONLY reason she's being floated around by establishment types is because of her gender and ethnicity, it has nothing to do with if she can actually win and do a good job. The line of attack against anyone who doesn't want her will be that they are racist or sexist and that's going to turn off middle of the road voters and we need them to win. Let her build her own reputation first and see if she can bring people in, that ICE is like the KKK (perception) question will haunt her for years and it was almost as stupid as Hillary bragging about putting coal miners out of work.

I like Biden but I do worry he'll be too anti populist and it will end up coming back to bite us, hopefully he doesn't stay too corporate friendly. He's got a way of reaching people though that few politicians have and he'd be MILES better than Trump but at some point we do need new blood in there too and some new ideas, these people that have been in government for decades have been ignoring the big problems for far too long. Hopefully if he does choose someone like Beto that will be enough to bring the anti establishment types in as long as they have their eye on the long game and not just what's happening in 2020.

The other problem is Biden turns 76 tomorrow. If he runs, he'd be the age that Reagan was when he left office. I like him and he still looks good, but damn he's old.

It all comes down to not allowing what happened two years ago happen again. The candidate may not be the best choice for the future, but it has to be the best choice to make sure a democrat wins. There cannot be any more mistakes again.

Trump's in his 70's so the other side really can't use age against him.

Booker would be a better choice than Harris if those other 3 don't run, yeah he's a bit too corporatist but he's also done some pretty amazing things that make his character hard to question. You would have a man who actually ran into a burning people to save people vs a loud mouth who won't even go out into the rain.

Lol you know that won't stop them. They will say crazy things like Trump has the body of a 30 year old.

I'm interested; how is your amerikan economy fairing compared to before trump guy?

Basically the same. Slow but steady growth. Stocks have continued to rise. Unemployment has decreased but the numbers are skewed because its leaving people out of the counts if they haven't had a job in awhile. Wages are stagnant and homelessness is increasing as is the wealth distribution from the top to the rest. But overall it's ok, that's the only reason Trump has any kind of approval. But well see if the tariffs start really hurting us next year.

It should be noted that Trump has been telling the fed to print more money but they won't because that would hurt our economy. So hopefully they hold to not doing that.

The economy has actually been on a very steady and consistent climb since the recession of 2008. If anything, Trump has added a little volatility.
