Official Thread The Last Guardian

What if the bird-dog-cat eats the kid because he's actually the devil, will you cry then?

The animation of the creature looks awesome, it really does come across as a living thing. Now me personally, I'd rather it just had regular paws instead of those chicken looking feet but that's a minor gripe.

Haven't seen much of it since last E3. We should get a release date this time. Crossing fingers for 2016.

They confirmed 2016 last week sometime, not sure when in 2016 though.

I say there's a 0.0% chance of the full game being released this year. I bet it's waiter a demo level or they make it episodic some how. No way it releases this year as a full game.

I don't think anyone is going to bet their life on TLG coming out but the fact that they are back to talking about it and showing and saying 2016 is a great sign. It would be odd to do that and then announce a 2017 date at E3 and I do expect them to announce the release date there.

I think it might actually happen

It is coming out. It would be embarrassing for Sony if it did not come out this year. IGN have played 45 minutes of it and Edge have seen even more of it.
Uncharted 4 was played in 2015 and originally a 2015 date. I won't believe it until I see a full version of The Last Guardian being played on a home console in 2016. I see there being absolutely no chance of it happening.

I think at this point they know if it is coming out and I would like to think they wouldn't start showing it off like they are if it wasn't coming. Its just going to look so bad if its delayed.

I have full confidence that either Last Guardian will be release in 2016 or it will not. Prove me wrong.

If I were a betting man, I'd bet $5 that Last Guardian releases this year. That's right, 5 whole dollars.

Can't wait until Sony announces Knack 2 to thunderous yawning

Also good to see the "its just a PS3 game" downplaying in full effect for TLG

I guess we should expect death threats if it doesn't.

My prediction: TLG will be a unique, evocative, and beautiful game, whenever it arrives -- late 2016, early 2017, I don't really care (although I understand it's a point of pride/shame for Sony that it be released this year). However, because expectations will be inflated after so long a wait, and there will be so much pent-up anticipation, the game will disappoint a lot of people -- it will not be "worth the wait," it will not be everything they dreamed of while wearing their sweat-soaked Fumito Ueda pajamas.

TLG will live up to Sony zealots expectations, at least the hardcore. But there's no way a near decade old title is going meet the hype and expectations after this long.

People don't understan that Ps3 couldn't hand TLG. Technically it's a Ps4 game through and through.

I think it'll depend on whether the gamers know what to expect, going in, or just get swept up in the hype and buy it without really understanding what they're getting into.

So it'll probably be a mix:
  • Some PS4 owners will love it -- these will be the guys who have played and loved Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. They will know what to expect. They loved the first games; they will love this one.
  • Some PS4 owners will buy the game based on hype, but they will go into it uninformed -- maybe they never played Ico or Shadow of the Colossus. They'll say, "What's the big deal? I don't get it." They will think it is too slow and quiet or something.
  • Some PS4 fanboys will hold it up as a masterpiece, regardless of how good it is, just because it's on the PS4.
  • Some Xbox fanboys will call it a flop/disappointment, regardless of how good it is, just because it's on the PS4.

Agreed for the most part. However, I cant see why Xbox fanboys would say its a disappointment without playing it. But im sure many of them will be watching closely. I'll probably catch a glimpse of it on Twitch myself. Im interested.

Same way PS4 fanboys say QB is a disappointment without playing it. You know how it works.

TLG would have had high expectations without a decade to pile on. I think living up to expectation will be tough. A good game in this case probably gets considered a disappointment.
